A while ago, while we were living in an apartment building, I came back to my car in the parking lot and found a note on my windshield. Some lady must've been parking her car and accidentally bumped into my car by accident. She left a note with her number telling us where the contact was made. We didn't find any scratches but called her anyway to thank her for leaving the note.

wow that is extremely nice of her and extremely rare. I have found multiple scratches on my car especially from parking at the hospital but never a note.

I did that once and the guy totally screwed me over because I wanted to pay out of pocket and he went through insurance. I didn't like what I got in return for my good deed!

Yes! I bumped a car in a parking garage once and left a note. There wasn't any damage, but the owner was very grateful . . . he was also a cop!

If there was any damage I would leave a note.
I've left notes tattling on other people before.
I've seen people hit others in parking lots and not left notes, so I've left notes with their license plate #'s -
If there was ANY mark even a tiny scuff then yes. It's my fault for damaging someone else's property and my responsibility to make it right.

I actually scraped someone's car once, left a note, the guy agreed that I could pay out of pocket and then he never called me back. I left him at least 1/2 dozen messages before I figured it could drop.

Nowadays - yes. When I was a teenager though I once hit someones parked car and drove away. As dumb as it sounds I actually didn't know how insurance worked so I assumed it would be fine for them to go through their own insurance. By the time I realized what I did it was several years later and I couldnt' even remember where the parking lot was since it was for a job interview that I didn't end up getting.
Karma came back around though because someone recently smacked into my parked car, broke off the side view mirror and drove off without leaving a note.

That is a toughy. My DH (BF @ the time) bumped a neighbor's car once and I insisted that he leave a note. The damage was so minor that we asked if we could just pay cash but the neighbor & his wife were being difficult about it....ended up his car got hit again by someone else and he must've got it fixed through the 2nd party's insurance b/c we never heard from them again. I was left a note once on my car, but when I called the number, it was a bogus #. But, then my DH's car got hit by a lady in a parking lot and she left a note and she paid my DH the amount he got the repair estimated for , so she restored my faith in society - somewhat.
