I would totally keep it flexible because you never know what you are going to feel like 2-4 weeks after delivery. Because of complications 2 weeks after delivering my son, even though I gave birth vaginally I was in no shape to go anywhere other than the doctor's office and MAYBE babies r us at 4 weeks. It sounds like you live close to where the wedding will take place, which is great, but I think you should plan to make an appearance at the very most. Who knows-- maybe you'll feel great and the baby will do fine! But I would say let the bride and your family know to expect very little, otherwise they will be all "where were you?" and you don't wanna have to deal with that if your'e not feeling well.

We're in a similar situation - due June 22, good friend's wedding is July 6. Added complication is that the wedding is 2.5 hours away from where we live. My plan right now is to confirm with the bride that she wouldn't mind me bringing the baby, and ask when the drop dead date is that they have to give numbers to the venue, and encourage her to contact me on that date if I haven't let her know yet. If we are feeling up to it, we will attend for the ceremony and small portion of the reception. It's in my parents hometown so we would be able to stay with them. I'll probably wear the baby to encourage people to keep their hands off, sit in the back row so I have an easy escape strategy, etc. Luckily I've been to a wedding at this venue before so I know the layout.

I'm worried about how I will feel but I also don't want the baby to distract in any way from my friend's day - it would be the first time my friends in that area would see the baby and I don't want them paying attention to her instead of paying attention to the bride and groom. If we do attend, I'll probably try and have friends over either the day before or after the wedding to meet the baby, so there's not the distraction of trying to see her at the wedding itself.

I wouldnt. I dont plan to take my baby out to any social events until atleast 3 months. At 2-4 weeks I would still not want everybody touching them and breathing on them, plus they are so soft at that age I wouldnt want anyone to hold them. 3months is when I plan to start going back to church every weekend. Until then I'll miss any events going on.

I wouldn't for all of the reasons listed above.

I *might* only if I knew there was a quieter spot to take her and that she would be covered with a blanket at all times/have a bodyguard to prevent random touching.

we were in the same boat. baby was due september 25th and a wedding to go to october 15. DH was originally suppose to sing in it, but it was 5 hours away and I knew I would't be ready! (I couldn't walk/sit down comfortably for more than a month. We didn't go. I'm glad we didn't because we wouldn't have enjoyed it. I would have been freaking out the whole time about no one touching the baby and I forsure couldn't leave her behind to attend a wedding!

I took my daughter to my BIL engagement party when she was around 6 weeks or so. Both of our parents were there and they were the only ones besides us to hold her. No one else even asked to hold her. It was mainly outdoors so that helped and there was music but it wasn't a rowdy party.

If the wedding is that close to your house though I'd probably prefer to leave her at home and be able to leave if your mom calls.

I think this depends on how close you are the the couple getting married. I've been to a wedding where one bridesmaid brought her 1 week old baby. She still looked pregnant (as most postartum moms do so soon after) and people asked her when the baby was due and she'd point to the baby her hubby was carrying it was baby #3. I also was MOH at my sister's wedding and brought #2 along (to Hawaii) at 4 weeks old. We made it work. No one really asked to carry her. She was all snug in her swaddle and people would look, but she was generally out of the way/limelight. Our ped okay'ed the trip and the outing. If your mom can watch the baby at home, I say go for it!

For me it would depend on the atmosphere of the wedding. I wouldn't hesitate to take a baby to a wedding similar to mine where there weren't a bunch of drunk people, no loud music, etc. If it's going to be rowdy and people will be acting stupid then I wouldn't take a baby (or really any kid for that matter).

I wouldn't want to because I wouldn't want everyone trying to touch or hold the brand new baby. It will be loud for baby & lots of yucky germs plus a total hassle as far as feeding, changes, naps, etc & you won't really be able to enjoy yourselves. You also may still be healing. Good luck! Sorry I don't have much advice except make sure if you agree to go it's very very tentative.

What if your baby is a week late?! Then you'd only be one week pp for the wedding! I think it's too soon- as well as baby being so young, how would you be able for it, straightforward delivery or section or anything?!

for the record i went to a wedding 2 weeks after giving birth to olive in heels! but i left her at home....

Our doctor said not to take LO into public places until 2 months when she gets her shots. That being said, my sister got married when LO was one month old. It was a tiny wedding, 20 people, and I really didn't want to miss my sisters wedding. We went and just kept her away from people as much as we could, and sat off to the side of everyone. She did cry during the ceremony.... but my husband was able to stop her quickly and luckily my sister didn't care and was just glad that we were there.

At that age, I probably wouldn't. Or if I did go, I wouldn't take the baby along and would only stay for a short time.

I personally wouldn't because of germ exposure, stress, my recovery (if it was soon after the birth, it would have been hard after a c-section for me), and the noise level could be a bit much for the baby.

I felt pretty great about 2 days after I had Little Jacks. I would do it as long as people just looked and didn't touch, but with a May baby you are pretty safe! We took our newest baby to a rally at the state capital at Day 5 of life. I wore her the whole time, so no risk of exposures!

I'd be less wondering about bringing the baby (it will be May- not cold and flu season or anything) and more wondering if you'll be up to it.

I did leave my daughter with my mom for an evening out to dinner within the first month, but I was not in any shape for a wedding- I was practically a zombie and still physically recovering.
