Would you if you were already taking a low dose one of the drugs that can kill listeria?
I have so many dietary restrictions already, I just wanna eat eggs benedict!

Why are you taking a low dose listeria medication? I definitely didn't restrict my foods much and totally ate eggs Benedict.

@travellingbee: for another infection. I googled it, it's not *the drug* used for listeria but can be effective.

My doctor said "no drugs, alcohol or smoking. Limit your deep sea fish, sushi and caffeine. Otherwise you are fine to eat it." So that's what I abided.

@2littlepumpkins: I did have them cook the eggs harder so the yolks weren't really runny. Totally not as good but I was paranoid. And I didn't even think to worry about hollandaise sauce but some places use raw egg in that, don't they?
I'm going to a steakhouse tonight and I am debating how well I need to have my steak cooked.

I've never had Eggs Benedict, so I don't think I'll start now.
Are they runny, is that the issue? I like my yolks just this side of runny, and I'm not going to start eating them hard just 'cause I'm KU (not that I could choke them down anyway).

I'm with @lady baltimore in that I don't normally eat eggs benedict, so I'm not starting now. But I have had eggs with runny yolks at reputable places. I don't risk it somewhere crappy like Waffle House.

I did. It's my favorite food. I also ate mid rare steak and drank an occasional 1/2 glass of wine.
nectarine / 2210 posts
I didn't although it's not something I have that often. Instead every time I went to a restaurant I wanted it because I couldn't have it.

Oh no, any eggs that didn't have a VERY firmly cooked yolk turned my stomach during pregnancy.
But if that's what you are craving, go for it!

Yes, with eggs poached medium. The place we go for brunch often doesn't use raw eggs in their hollandaise.

I didn't in the first trimester in either pregnancy. And I don't think I ever did w ds1, I'm much more lax this time around and have had it a few times in the last month.
pear / 1586 posts
I would and I did! I was fairly lax about food "restrictions" especially at reputable places.

Aw yeah. I eat a ton of runny eggs. I wonder when the last egg recall was, anyways
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
I would have, but runny eggs (eggs in general, really) were one of my major food aversions. I had a med rare prime rib for my bday dinner tonight, though

I eat runny egg all the time, including at home. It's my favorite way to eat eggs.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
Yep! I ate Eggs Benedict (my favourite variety of egg dish) medium rare steaks, sushi etc! I figured I had more of a chance getting listeria from bagged salad and cantaloupe and no one is "banning" those
persimmon / 1364 posts
Not only did I eat them but I had them with lox! My doctor gave me very few restrictions on food.

The day after I got my BFP, I ate a ramen soup for lunch with a half-cooked egg in it. At that point I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to eat that.
I think the risk with eggs isn't so much listeria as salmonella though.

I did with out a second thought.
I just food out the walnuts I are wine pregnant were recalled by trader joes for possible listeria contamination. Really it could be anywhere in processed food.... No one told me not to eat nuts.
pomegranate / 3192 posts
Absolutely! I have eaten eggs benny in both my pregnancies and never thought twice about it!!
apricot / 347 posts
I eat everything while pregnant: runny yolks, sushi, tartar unripened cheese, cold cuts,, a GLASS OF WINE (gasp!!). Wasn't a problem with #1, doubt it will be with #2.
