Another gem from my dad.

My mom told me that when I would scream really loud she would close the door and go take a shower so she didn't have to hear me and feel bad!!!!

My dad says you don't need a monitor, because you need to be sure and never check on them every little time they make a noise. This from someone who (along with my stepmom, obviously), sleep trained my little sister from less than a week old. Yeah, I think I'll not be listening to his advice.

Ha. My dad scoffs at my sister over things like 'sleep training' or 'transitioning to one nap'. He would say things like, We never had to *transition* to one nap, you just started taking on.
My mom (SAHM while he worked long hours) overheard him and shot that down very quickly

My parents, who let my Sister cry, from birth, in a different room to us whilst we ate dinner each night told me not to let LO cry for too long when we were sleep training when she was a few months old. er, double standards?

oh man! i also think older parents have distorted views on what they did! FIL said SIL was a great sleeper because she slept from 10-6 every day.... it made me think no one was getting enough sleep! but they had twins 2 years later (DH!) and they said they pretty much don't remember their first couple years.
