@Ms.Badger: @smocks: @MrsBrewer: Oh man! I got a huge kick out of all the WI talk/pronunciations. I lived in CO for a while and was working with a client, who I had talked to quite a bit in person, but this time we were talking over the phone. In the middle of the conversation he interrupted, "I didn't realize you were from WI!" Apparently I have an even "thicker" accent over the phone.

There is a great quiz that nails all the US regional accents perfectly (at least in my case )

@.twist.: It drives me nuts. I hear it all the time. Not sure if it is a regional but it sounds so freaking awkward.

This thread is hilarious, and with nearly every single one, I'm thinking, "I'm so glad I'm not the only one annoyed by this!"

I thought of another one, pronouncing realtor as "real-lit-tor."

@BadgerMom: I'm not American, but I ended up in "the Midland" with 83%! hahaha (I don't even know where that would place me? Montana? Wyoming?

I just got out of a meeting and the person presenting kept on saying "eck-cetra." It's et cetera. So irritating!!

How about amberlamps instead of ambulance? I heard someone seriously use the word in conversation the other day.

Oh gosh, my mom does so many of these types of things and it drives me NUTS, such as...

-Rhyming words (usually names) that are not supposed to rhyme- "Oprey Winfrey," "Marther Luther King, Jr". Also, "Dolly Partner"

    - CHOOSE-day instead of Tuesday

    - HeighTH instead of Height

    -Amalance instead of ambulance
