I haven't had a real meltdown in quite a while, but last night made up for it in a big way. Sorry if this is a bit long!
Back story: I have pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel in both of my hands, which means I have a hard time doing normal things sometimes. It is obnoxious as all get out, and it makes me feel very, very useless. I've also been having really strong BH contractions off and on every 20 minutes-1 hour for the last 48 hours, so DH and I were already on edge to begin with.
So last night, I finally feel like I have the energy to make an actual dinner-chicken fajitas. This was the first real meal I was making in our new kitchen, and I was feeling pretty good about it. Chicken was grilling, veggies, were cut, quinoa made, all was well. I had even emptied the dishwasher and was in the process of reloading it as I was cooking-like I said, I was feeling good, and this was a big deal. I took the chicken out of the pan, cut it into strips, and threw it back into the pan to add some salsa to it, to flavor it. And this is where it all went wrong.
The salsa was unopened, and I've been having a hard time with jars. BUT, I decided-you know what, I'm not going to ask for help, I'm going to beat this sucker-look how well I'm doing already at dinner. I can do this. WRONG.
Whelp, I did get it open, but not in the way I intended. Instead, as the lid popped off, it slipped out of my hands, and flew across the room. Everything, from me, to the floor, to the stove, to the walls, to our brand new white refrigerator, was COVERED in salsa. I screamed, DH came running, and then I started sobbing. Cue meltdown.
Bless his heart, DH was so sweet about it. He helped me clean it up, and he even found another jar of salsa in the fridge, so dinner wasn't ruined. But man oh man, that was a doozy. Hopefully, it's out of my system for a while!
