I didn't go before this with my current pregnancy, but we saw the HB and didn't need a TV u/s at 8w. With DD we went a little earlier, maybe 7w5d and also didn't need a TV.

I saw with my son and this pregnancy at 6 weeks 5 days and 6 weeks 6 days. Didn't try earlier though. My sons they did a TV to get a better look, but this time they didn't.

I was 7 weeks something this time and it was picked up on an abdominal US. Last pregnancy, I had my scan at 7 weeks and she had to use a TV to find it.

With this pregnancy I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks but I don't remember if it was abdominal or transvaginal - I've always had both until 12 weeks.

It depends on a lot of factors, but you can typically see a heartbeat at 7wks transabdominally.

I went to a specialist and they were able to see baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks 3 days. However, their machines are AMAZING!! At my regular OB appointments, he did vaginal ultrasounds until I hit 10 weeks, because his machines are crappy (as he puts it). Even at 10 weeks the picture was quite grainy and it took us both a bit to find the heartbeat.

I saw DD's heartbeat at 8 weeks (but that was also my first appointment so who knows how early I could have seen it).

Saw it flickering away at 6 weeks. Do you have an u/s coming up?
Eta: sorry I misread op, I saw it at 6 weeks with a vag

Usually abdominal is later and I get transvaginal US early on. I've seen HB very early with transvaginal US, late 5 weeks/early 6 weeks.

@BandDmommy: I never had a transvag one. All tummy for me. Just depends on the doctor's office.

DH just corrected me...
With DD1 - appointment at 7w1d...had to have TV for HB
With DD2 - appointment at 9w - strong HB easily externally...

@Applesandbananas: if your bladder is full, how gassy you are at the time of the scan, the position of your uterus ( like if it's tilted backwards or forwards).
