@MamaBehr: I really like the t-shirt idea, super cute. Another idea would be lining up each person's shoes and taking a picture of that. I'll try to come up with more ideas, but my brain is foggy right now, lol.

I love the t-shirt idea. We will tell friends and the rest/extended family probably after my 11 week NT scan, but I think hold off on Facebook longer... Maybe until 20 weeks when we know the gender?

My FB picture I want to do where DH and I each hold one of our dog's front paws up and she will be wearing a shirt that says "Future Big Sister". She is currently our baby!!

@MamaBehr: we had some spotting at eight and nine weeks that they attributed to the Pap smear they did in the office. We heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks and nine and a half weeks. They could not find it when I went to the E R at ten weeks with heavy bleeding.

@mrsh- new to the board. I'm 9.5 wks along. I've had 2mc in the past. Was curious...was the heartbeat on the u/s normal and did the fetus measure right? I experienced the same situation, a loss at 10wks, but the hr was low and it was measuring about a week an a half small. This time I had an u/s @. 8 weeks and I'm measuring right on and hr is fast and strong. Gives me a little more hope.

I was planning to wait till 12 weeks and do something cute. Then yesterday (9w2d) I suddenly HAD to tell everyone! It was suddenly driving me insane. Also, I realized that I, personally, would rather people be aware if I miscarry just so we don't get any "when are you having kids" type comments too soon.

Since I decided to tell abruptly, I didn't have a chance to do anything too cute. I wound up calling the people who needed a call, then I found a site that does those pregnancy tickers and posted one to FB.

As a side note, I don't have anyone on FB other than close friends and family. If I was the type to have a bunch of casual friends on there I probably would have waited longer on there at least.

Is the first trimester dragging or what?! I'm at 9w 5d and am so anxious to shout it from the mountain tops, but the superstitious side of me and my DH is keeping us from doing so. The next appointment will be at about 11 w 1d. I think we'll be announcing on the 4 th of July.

It cannot come fast enough.

We waited until about 12 weeks to announce via social media with baby 1, but with baby 2 it's a little harder to hide, since I popped immediately. So, friends and fam that see us already know, and we'll probably announce on FB with a photo of DD wearing a "big sis" tee, sometime after the first U/S at around 8 weeks. For me, personally, and I know it's a touchy and heart-wrenching subject, I'd want the support of friends and family if something did, God forbid, happen, so I don't mind people knowing before 12 weeks. Truthfully, I'm a big control freak and know that there are so many unknowns in an entire pregnancy (and in parenthood for that matter), not just the first 12 weeks, that I just have to let go and try to enjoy it.

We announced on Facebook today. It's so much fun letting everyone know!

We are celebrating my dad's birthday in two weeks, when I will be exactly 11w0d. We sort of wanted to wait another couple weeks for NT results, but we decided to just tell our parents then since we will be together anyway. Fx that won't be a mistake. We are going to invite my MIL too, though we have to figure out how to tell her that her boyfriend isn't welcome this time. (My husband's father passed away three years ago. The boyfriend is perfectly nice but relatively new. We would rather just share the news with her first since we don't know him too well yet.)

This weekend I printed a scan of our first ultrasound. Above the image it says, "TEMPORARY PHOTO". Below it says "Official version e.t.a. February 23, 2014. I put it into a picture frame and wrapped it up to be my dad's birthday present.

I think I might tip off my sister when we have dinner tonight, though. I think she feels a little fragmented from my parents for various reasons -- just personality differences, not conflicts per se but lack of connection -- and I would rather give her a chance to react on her own first. I am confident that I can trust her not to spill the beans. She is my only sibling, and my husband is an only child, so there's no issue of favoritism.
