I feel like during pregnancy google is terrible tool of self torture!! I had my first NP appointment today at 5 weeks and had a routine pap and pelvic exam. The nurse told me I would likely have some spotting which is totally normal. As expected, I did have some pink discharge so I decided to google how long I should expect this to last. What did a find?? Lots of stories of people who miscarried after pap smears and all these warnings that I shouldn't have let the NP do it. AHHHHHH. The bleeding has already stopped so I'm pretty calmed down at this point, but I really think I need to just stop googling things all together.

Ugh, google is terrrrible! I googled a lot in the beginning (because I didn't have many symptoms). I started googling a lot after I went into preterm labor....then stopped....because while there were so many great stories, the few not so great ones were driving me crazy.

when I have an urge to google, I come here and search for/post my question instead! then, you get much more supportive comments then the www.
you gotta think - statistic-wise, let's say 1 in 10 women get "x" during pregnancy (miscarriage, hemorrhoids, whatever!). Well all those women might go to the same board to commiserate (let's say a random the bump site or w/e). Then, it looks like there are a million people with that issue! When in reality, SO many more women have NOT had that complication, they just don't write about it.
hope that made sense. that's how I have to justify not googling. LOL.

I kind of want my husband to block google (and all search engines) on our computer until we have this kid. It would decrease my stress level.

I think Sorrycharlie has some great points! I know how hard it is to stay away from google though, but I realized during the first trimester that you can find answers that go both the "it's normal" and "panic!" ways of each situation if you keep looking! I didn't bleed after the pap while pregnant but I've definitely bled after one before, it's normal!!!
