@loki: @Mrs. Sunshine: @NeekieRose: Thanks ladies! Got a little teary eyed when DH saw the little blob. He asked a million questions about what was what and he was so excited!

@HappyBluebird: aww how far are you now? i'm wonder if i should expect to see a blob or a baby-ish creature at my 9 week ultrasound. my friend had one at 11weeks and it TOTALLY looked like a baby! and was sucking it's thumb.

  4. Mrs. Sunshine

@loki: with my first pregnancy my first ultrasound was at 9 weeks & she totally already looked like a baby! Obviously not a fully developed one but there was no doubt that she looked like a person!

@loki: According to when I ovulated I am 7w6d. The two measurements the Dr got was 7w0d and 7w5d. I go back when I am 11w6d I believe and the Dr said that they will be able to get a much better measurement and will be able to give us some pictures. I bet you will defintely see the heartbeat at 9 weeks!

@loki: here is what mine looked like at 8w5d.

The midwives don't have the greatest ultrasound machine so I didn't think it looked particularly baby like yet.

    @NeekieRose: still cute

thanks guys. can't wait for that first ultrasound, i think it'll ease my mind a lot.

@loki: I think it will ease your mind alot too! I know I feel much better after this morning. Also I don't have the picture but ours looked exactly like @NeekieRose.

    @HappyBluebird: congrats on the heartbeat.

Even with diclectin I'm feeling horrible. I haven't throw up (which I think is the diclectin's help) but I'm still nauseous pretty much all day. It's going to be a long first trimester.

hi ladies! I've been so exhausted the past week, so have been either at work or asleep. I have lots to catch up on, but wanted to give you an update!

We had an u/s on Friday at 7w1d and saw a strong heartbeat - it was 152! We also saw arm and leg buds forming, which was neat. We're going back this week, then onto the every 2-4 week schedule. I told my BFF about the news at lunch today - I wasn't planning on it, but couldn't not tell her! It felt good to talk about it to someone other than DH, but also made me a bit nervous to put it out there! We're telling our parents this weekend and I'm so excited.

Nausea still comes and goes, but I find not letting my stomach get empty helps - also applesauce, wheat thins, jolly ranchers and Jimmy John's sandwiches have all been bland enough too.

Can't wait to read your updates and see how you all are doing! XO

@makemake: congrats and welcome! So sorry to hear that you're feeling so awful - I hope the nausea subsides soon and/or you're able to find some food or things to help soon! Hugs!

@NeekieRose: yay for the heartbeat and everything looking great - SO happy for you! Isn't that HB amazing! We just stared and stared at the screen, it was so wonderful! And don't you dare think about leaving our board! Ha!

@As Time Goes By: congrats! that's a super strong heartbeat - so great! I can totally understand crying - seeing the heartbeat made it so real for me - I've been so nervous and I know I'm not out of the woods yet in terms of worrying, but it was like, "man, there's a baby in there!"

So I stopped eating almost all processed foods about a year ago & I haven't had a baloney sandwich in YEARS but the past two days I have been dying for a baloney sandwich on white with mayo. I didn't really have cravings last time. I wonder what my body is trying to say lol

@ineebee: yay for a great ultrasound - so happy for you!

@lulu22: I hear you on the cheese cravings. I could eat it all day, every day, in every way. I don't have any strange cravings yet, but when I decide on something to eat, I have to have exactly THAT and nothing else sounds good. Poor DH!

@happybluebird: yay for the great appointment! Our measurements were off a bit at first too, and the doc said it was totally normal, depending on who was measuring, etc. (we alternate between our MD and NP).

@loki: sorry you're having a tough day - hopefully tomorrow will be better for you! you should most definitely see a heartbeat at 9 weeks, and also see something that resembles a baby. You're a waiting warrior!

@banana330: so sorry to hear you're feeling awful - does anything help, food-wise? Hopefully the meds will continue to kick in and you'll get some relief soon! I know it sucks, but my doc continues to tell me that nausea is a good thing to have. Hang in there!

@NeekieRose: @HappyBluebird: @Sunshinemcc: congrats on the ultrasounds! so happy to hear everyone's good news!

@Mrs. Sunshine: I'm glad its not just me that's getting cravings for processed food! I'm so surprised by it because like you I've had a very natural diet for long time... but not anymore! Basically I just want carbs and fat, both of which most processed foods offer nicely! Mayonnaise is pretty much the best thing ever to me right now.

Hi ladies - I have been away at a family thing over the weekend - exhausting. We drove in early this morning from where we were holidaying to get to our second ultrasound appointment. Baby measured at 5w6d and going from ovulation date, the most in our calculations that baby could be is 6w1d, so it seemed accurate. We say gestation sac, yolk sac, and a tiny little baby with a little heartbeat, so even though the appt ran an hour behind with a very horribly full bladder, it was a great day. I feel like we can be officially excited now! And I have started to have morning sickness officially this weekend, which involved me running around the condo where we were staying with my BIL and MIL waking everyone up, throwing up into various sinks, looking frantically all over for my pills, lol. Keepin' it classy.

Also, I am always so hungry, which I was decidedly not the last pregnancy. I could eat 10 lbs of food every meal. I was asking my husband whether he thought me getting a second slice of cake yesterday was excessive, and he was like "well you're eating for three now so you probably should". It hadn't occurred to me that I am breastfeeding and pregnant, so yeah that would probably explain why I am so darn hungry.

    hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts

@Rockies11: yes! I'm breastfeeding & pregnant & am eating nearly twice as much as DH! I plan on breastfeeding this LO as well....I feel like I'll never know what a normal portion size is again! lol

@lulu22: the mayo calls to me daily!

  22. Rockies11

@Mrs. Sunshine: On Friday I ate like, 4 platefuls of spaghetti, and I was like painfully full but still hungry. And I was like "there is not enough food in this life to fill me up, there just isn't". I was choking down apples and cheese my whole last pregnancy, and still gained a million pounds, and now I would eat any carb in the world, and haven't gained anything. And with LO#1 who still breastfeeds all the time, I feel like there's a distinct possibility that eating for four could be in my future, lol.

  23. Mrs. Sunshine

    hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts

@Rockies11: this isn't directly related to pregnancy but have you noticed a change in your LO'S stool since becoming pregnant? My LO is having much looser stool & as diarrhea is a symptom of mine I'm wondering if the hormones are affecting her a little too

  24. Rockies11

    persimmon / 1363 posts

@Mrs. Sunshine: Mine's the opposite - which makes sense for her. She's prone to constipation, and has been more constipated than usual since I got pregnant. She's only going about once every three days. I wouldn't be surprised if it had an impact! I also think my supply is a bit lower too, because she's changing sides a lot more rapidly than she used to.

I love seeing the ultrasounds! Glad everyone's seeing good news. And telling people is seriously exciting. Now that we've told our immediate families I sometimes have to catch myself when I subconsciously assume other people know as well. This is a long time to keep a secret this big. I'm counting the days until we plan to tell close friends.

  26. Mrs. Sunshine

@Rockies11: my LO only takes one side but I've noticed that more often than not she's been wanting to nurse at night now too so maybe mine has dropped a little too

You guys, there are already people posting on the May 2015 thread. I figured we were bound to get a few more April mamas before the May due dates started to pop up!

@HappyBluebird: yeah that's so awesome you got to see the little bean!

@loki: I'm attaching my 9w scan from my DD. I think it's half blob/half baby but you can see little arm budS!

@Banana330: awwww hope you feel better soon. Maybe it won't last the whole first trimester!

@SunshineMcC: I told my BFF too, as soon as I found out. We are going to tell family Thanksgiving (Canada) weekend.

@Rockies11: wow that's great you could see the HB so early!
I'm super hungry too but also breastfeeding. I'm down two morning and night nursing though and might drop it soon, I haven't decided yet.

@PawPrints: I saw the May thread up and running. The April thread got quiet, there is no one due at the end of the month with me I don't think

So I had my DDs 1 year appointment today and confirmed my pregnancy (with an HPT) but the doctor didn't order blood tests. He did send me for a dating scan but when I tried to book one the earliest I could get was Sept 30. That's so far awAy!!! I might as well not even have it and wait a week to do the NT scan instead. Last time I had scans at 7 & 9 weeks so I don't like having to wait another month. I find the first trimester really drags. I'm sure you all feel the same way

    @PawPrints: I noticed that too!!!

@Mrs. Sunshine: We tried to avoid processed food as much as possible also, and now all I want is everything processed!

Today was the first day of school with my first grade babies. I moved down a grade level this year and oh my goodness I am BEAT. This is the first year I've felt this tired on day 1 and oh man baby isn't helping! To make matters better, I hardly want to eat. I've eaten dill pickle chips and one bite of stuffed shells with bolognese for dinner. Nutritious

@neekierose: I spent the weekend relaxing. After watching the movie divergent I bought the second and third books in the series and read them. It was so nice to not be so busy.

Im jealous of all of you getting to tell family. I'm not saying a word until our ultrasound next tues. The waiting is killing me. I'm praying time flies.

I'm attaching my 9 week ultrasound from my last pregnancy. We called him our little gummy bear after that. Our 6w4d ultrasound looked like a worm on a circle.

  32. SunshineMcC

@delight: is the NT scan part of the genetic screening? Our doc told us to start thinking about if we want to do screening and/or testing, and I'm super overwhelmed by all of it. Did you of that with your first one (if you don't mind me asking )?

@pawprints: whoa, I thought there would be more of us too!

@marionberry: did you like the 2nd and 3rd books? The 3rd was my least fave, and I felt the same way about the hunger games books!

@rockies11: yay for a great appt. so glad you're feeling excited. I get more excited as time goes on and am feeling myself relax a bit, which is so nice!

  33. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@SunshineMcC: yes the NT scan is part of the IPS (Integrated Prenatal Screening) testing they do in first trimester. That ultrasound is done between 11&13 weeks and looks for markers for Downs Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. You also have a blood test a few weeks later. We did It with DD and will do it again. It was an awesome appointment because around 12 weeks the baby really looks like a baby and you can see it really bouncing around.

  34. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Rockies11: @delight: @Mrs. Sunshine: so much hungrier this time! I barely ate anything in the first trimester last time, this time the hunger will come out of nowhere with a vengeance. I, too, am attributing it to "eating for three." Sounds like your guys' supplies haven't taken too much of a hit. Mine has been pretty much decimated, went from pumping an average of 12 oz per day pre pregnancy to less than 3 oz a day last week! Good thing I have a decent freezer stash.

  35. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@delight: I'm conflicted on the NT scan. We did not get it last time, but I had a cyst on my ovary so we had ultrasounds every 4 weeks or so to monitor that. Which meant we got to see the baby a lot. This time around it is unlikely that we will get another ultrasound until the 20 week anatomy scan. The ultrasound tech was able to tell us the gender at a 13 week ultrasound, so I was thinking that if we did the NT scan we might be able to find out the gender sooner....

DH is against that because we would not terminate so he doesn't want a false positive where we are worried for no reason or to get any bad news in general, he'd rather just wait for the 20 week scan.

  36. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@SunshineMcC: I hated the ending of the third book and thought both were a bit slow at times but I liked reading them.
@neekierose: we're in the same predicament about the testing. We didn't do it last time but would love an extra ultrasound. I just know after all I've been through so far with this pregnancy I probably can't handle being told there's an issue, even if it turns out to be a false positive. So I'm torn.

  37. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@marionberry: we probably won't end up doing it. I mean plenty of other women wait until 20 weeks to see the baby again...I could alway learn to be more patient...hah

@NeekieRose: oh wow, that's a big deal! How old is your LO?

  40. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Mrs. Sunshine: She will be 10 months on Friday. I have just under 300 oz in the freezer still and she is only drinking 6-9 oz per day at daycare. I already got the okay from her pediatrician that I can introduce WCM before a year. Once I get down to about 150 oz in the freezer, I am going to start mixing WCM into her breastmilk bottles. We are so close to the year mark, it doesn't make sense to me to transition to formula to just transition to WCM a few weeks later.

My only real concern is that she is still getting enough while nursing. I know nursing is much more efficient than the pump. She is also eating 3 full meal and 2-3 snacks a day so she definitely isn't hungry.

The worst part is pumping for 20 minutes and seeing .75 oz total output. Ugh.
