@ineebee: what a wonderful follow up scan, congrats on great news. I've fallen off the face of this board this week, due to a borderline NT reading myself. Everything was looking great at our scan but the NT was in the high normal range. I don't know why I am worried so much, I'm sure everything is fine, but I've been googling like crazy and it's not helping anything. I'm so glad to hear everything has turned out well for you. I am still waiting for my bloods to come back for my risk assessment.
Hope everyone is feeling well!

@delight: sorry to hear that you've been worried lately. When do you anticipate getting your blood results back? Sending you prayers and positive thoughts that all is well. One day at a time. XO

@delight: Can I ask what your measurement was? And did someone get to talk to you in-depth about it? It's pretty annoying how a higher than normal NT measurement can tell you some information, but also no information at all. I think I'm going to opt out of it at my next pregnancy.

@delight: It sucks to be stressed out during all of this. Hope you get some answers soon.

@Jenn23: Congrats on the girl! That's so exciting!
@delight: Hope everything turns out fine when you get the blood results. At least the measurement was still in the normal range? (I don't know how the measurements work, I've never done the NT scan). Sending positive thoughts!

It's looking like girls at the end of the month, boys at the beginning of the month...wonder if this baby will continue the trend and be a boy?? 11 days...not that I'm counting.

@delight: I'm sorry. Baby A's was a 2.8 but supposedly my first round of blood looks good. My ultrasound tech said that some babies just have extra fluid and it means nothing. If the doctor didn't come in and talk to you about it try not to worry. And stay away from google. I did that and it was always bad. I'll be praying for you!

@delight: I'm sorry that you're worried about this. I went through a similar thing over the last few weeks. My NT measurement was great, but the bloodwork was quite bad (high Down syndrome risk), so I met with a genetic counselor and proceeded to get the Harmony test. It was a two-week wait for the results and I just got the call on Monday that they were normal. I worried and Googled a ton for about 24 hours before I somehow forced myself to step back and put it out of my mind while I waited for the Harmony results. I found it comforting to know that the outcome really was out of my control and that I shouldn't "borrow problems before I have them" as my mom would say. It's tough though. I hope you get more info and good news soon. I will be thinking about you!

@windswept: I'm sorry that you've had to go through this. My friend had her anatomy scan and they found two soft markers so she did the verifi test and just found out her baby is perfectly ok. Thank god for tests like that.

Thanks, everyone!! I'm still surprised it is a girl, since I really felt like it would be another boy! Sorry I have been away, but we sold our townhouse in 15 days, and have just one month to move to the house we picked. It has been pure chaos and stress around here! All good things, but just crazy!!
Hope to be more active here once we move next month and get settled!!
Hope everyone is doing well. So glad to be out of the 1st trimester, but unfortunately just like with my last pregnancy I'm still having nausea and morning dry heaves/vomiting. Hoping it goes away soon!!

@SunshineMcC: thank you so much, I'm sure I am worried for nothing. I don't know when I get my bloods back, but I am pretty sure they compare the ones taken at 12 weeks to the ones taken at 15 weeks. So not for a few weeks.
@ineebee: My number was 2.8 but it was only 12 weeks so considered high. Although, again I am basing that on Dr Google. No one has talked to me at all yet because I don't have a risk factor yet, only that number. I know deep down my number really isn't all that high, but I keep comparing it to my daughter's which was under 1.0mm. If we do have another I don't think I'll do the NT testing.
@Banana330: thank you. I am glad I came here to talk about it, the support here is wonderful.
@NeekieRose: thanks, I am sure everything will come back fine. I am really thinking it's better to just not do the NT test.
@marionberry: thanks for the prayers. A doctor doesn't come in for us because we just go to an X-ray/ultrasound clinic and are seen by ultrasound tech. So now it's just a waiting game for lab results. I know 2.8 really isn't that high and many people have wonderful outcomes with much, much higher numbers. I'm glad everything is turning out well for you!
@windswept: it really blows that all these tests take so long for results. I'm sorry you had to go through that but am so glad you got normal results. I hope all of us April mamas end up having healthy babies. I love the mantra about "not borrowing problems before I have them." I'll keep thinking of that!
@Rockies11: thanks so much. Pregnancy is one big waiting game, but all worth it in the end.
@Jenn23: Congrats on baby girl and sale of your townhouse. Good luck on the move. We did the same thing in August with a quick sale and move. It's tough, but you'll get through it. I'm right there with you with the dry heaves every morning. I usually feel pretty good after, but i hope it's over soon. My little girl was mimicking my heaving noises today and I had to laugh.

Also, Motherhood Maternity has BOGO free on their clearance section online. I got 10 shirts after the promo and bumpbucks for $70! I should be all set with shirts. I ordered a few work pants from Target. I hope they fit! Other than that, I don't really plan to buy much else in terms of maternity clothes.

@Boopers: woah. Awesome! I'm in the process of closet cleaning &figuring out what I need

@delight: That's exactly the same measurement I had, and at 12 weeks as well. My ultrasound tech at the maternal fetal medicine clinic (who actually has geneticists and such) said that they don't even get concerned there until a score of 3.5 and I know a lot of bees have said 3.1 is the concern in their office. They showed our scores to the doctor there right after the scan and they didn't foresee any reason to talk to us. My first round of blood draws came back normal but, like you, I don't even do my second until next week and then have another 10 days to wait - so about 2 weeks more. Try to have faith it all means nothing. You've already had a perfectly healthy baby, like me. Most stories that were bad online were for mothers of advanced maternal age. I don't know about you, but I'm only 29. My OB didn't even seem concerned when I told her about the 2.8 thickness. Try to remain positive. I worried a lot too when I got the 2.8 but am trying hard to just move on from it now.

@marionberry: oh that's a good idea, i hope they tell you the sex early!
@Jenn23: congrats on your girl super exciting!
@delight: so sorry you're dealing with the stress. you're in my thoughts... i'm sure everything will be okay. 2.8 is really not a high measurement and it really is only a rough marker, not a diagnosis. i know you know that... just keep reassuring yourself and come here to vent whenever you need to. google is the enemy!
@Boopers: oh thanks. i need to get serious about buying some stuff - i am definitely at the point where my regular pants are way too tight. i desperately need work pants i can wear with boots but i'm struggling to find any!

@Boopers: great...now I just bought more maternity clothes. Thanks for the heads up!
With all the maternity clothes I have ordered (just placed an order at Motherhood Maternity and a package from Target should be delivered tomorrow), I need to tell work so I can start wearing maternity clothes!

@Boopers: ooh, thanks for the tip! Old Navy had 30% off yesterday, so I bought a few things online - hoping that they'll fit!
We had our 16 week appointment yesterday and it went well - we had the second round of blood work for screening purposes and got to hear the heartbeat too - it was 155, nice and strong! I was a little bummed, as assumed we'd get an ultrasound, but my doc said unless there's an issue, there will only be two more - one at 20 weeks, and one at 36 weeks! I'm hoping for no issues, but want to see that guy every chance I can. I'm still having some gall bladder pain (despite eating the blandest foods in the land), but it's manageable for now, so my doctor isn't worried. I was planning on doing some sort of FB announcement, but DH is a bit leery about putting it out there for the world to see, so we may not. Maybe I'll just post a bump picture randomly.
So excited the weekend is almost here!

@SunshineMcC: glad everything went well... sorry you didn't get to see the little guy! 4 more weeks! i jus theard the heartbeat for the first time at my appt on monday and it was so great!

@marionberry: wow that makes me feel so much better that your doctor wasn't concerned at all. I really do hate the waiting game but it is out of my hands and our scores really aren't that high. I'm 32 so not quite advanced maternal age yet! I'm glad you've been able to move on from your initial NT worries and hope I can leave my worry behind soon too.
@loki: haha google is the enemy. Thanks for your support too. And yeah for hearing the heartbeat, so awesome!
@SunshineMcC: yeah for a great appointment! I can't wait for mine next week when I can hear the heartbeat. That's such a wonderful experience! I ended up doing a FB announcement yesterday. I've been worried lately and I think announcing has helped me to celebrate this pregnancy more. Posting a random bump picture is a great way to announce too!

Half the time I'm not 100% that I felt something. & it definitely doesn't happen. Everyday yet.

Day care update: DH is a teacher and there is a home day care that several other teachers at his school have their little ones during the day. He just talked to her and she has one opening for next fall - so we're excited about that - but we'll need to let her know by January! It seems crazy to commit to a day care 4 months before baby is even born, and 9 months before he'll even start! Crazy!
Any recommendations from second time moms on what to ask in an interview, look for, etc. when meeting with her and seeing her home/space? Insurance, safety, policies, etc?
Thanks!

@Mrs. Sunshine: I think I'm starting to feel things more frequently... Atleast I'm telling myself it's baby!
I feel like this week my uterus has really moved into my lower stomach and is actually outside of my pelvis finally. I think this is also helping me actually look pregnant! I've tried to upload to the bump thread but I keep getting errors (I'm only mobile)

Hi there!
I've been lurking for some time now and figured it was time for me to come on out and join the fun. I've been super paranoid and didn't want to jinx anything so here I am posting now that I'm in my second trimester.
Location: Madrid, Spain until December then back to Los Angeles, CA. (Yay for having to find a new ob/gyn at 23 weeks :-/)
EDD: April 25th, 2015
How far along: 14 weeks today.
First child? Yes.
Next doctor appointment: November 13th at 16 weeks for a general check up and hopefully to find out the gender.
Any symptoms so far? I didn't have much in the way of morning sickness. I have had pretty terrible headaches and some light spotting/cramping.
Who have you told? My immediate family and DH's immediate family along with our grandparents. We waited until after the nuchal translucency scan to tell anyone.

@TravelBee: welcome and congrats! I'm happy to see someone due at the end of the month with me! Spain is beautiful, I travelled there with my mom a few years ago. Hope your transition back to the states goes well!
