@aprild: I'm having the opposite problem!! It took me a half hour yesterday to convince OH he should go to the gun club today so I can have some me time. He is afraid I'll have the baby in the span of two hours. Surely there's a happy medium!!
pear / 1809 posts
@Ms. RV: Yes, I agree that there should be a happy medium! I just started a poll asking people when their labor started. I'm hoping to show DH that it's not always the middle of the night.
pear / 1930 posts
@aprild: I just looked at your poll's results so far. Eek. 4am-8am is in the lead. The line I used to get OH away was "but I might not even realize I'm in labor when it starts." Maybe that would work with your DH to say just because it starts in the middle of the night doesn't mean you will realize it in the middle of the night!

Aaaaand apparently it's not too late in the game to develop new symptoms. I've been getting carpal tunnel bad in my hands this week, but didn't realize that's what it was until today! Anyone else?
pear / 1809 posts
@Ms. RV: That's a good idea. And even if that is the most common time for labor to start, that doesn't mean that everyone is the same. There are still a lot of people who start during the day!
@buttermilk: Sorry to hear that. I haven't had any new symptoms, but some of my old ones are getting worse. My feet used to be slightly swollen, but now they are almost twice their normal size!

@mrsjyw: @Mrs. J: @buttermilk: Eeeek! Logistically, we're ready (I think?!), but emotionally, I'm kinda a mess haha. I've been super sentimental with my toddler lately and I'm just hoping and praying that the transition isn't too rough on him. He's a pretty easy going kid, so I hope it goes well.
Otherwise, I'm excited!! My pre-op appointment is tomorrow morning and I think I may freak out a bit after that . I've had several major surgeries since I was a kid for some tummy issues, but I still get a little nervous. The worst part that I remember from last time is that I hated being numb! It totally freaked me out, especially when he was so stuck that they were shaking me. Hoping for an easier time in that sense!

@autumnlove: I bet. Have they decided definitely on Tuesday? I know it's scary, but I'm sure everything will be fine it sounds like
your doctors are on top of things.

Well I woke up with (so sorry) diarrhea at 6 am this morning, and it's actually the second day in a row I've had it. Hoping that's a sign things are moving along!

@buttermilk: I don't think there is such a thing as TMI when you are talking to a bunch of pregnant ladies about to give birth!
I just took my first dose of cytotec. My midwife told me to take it a few hours before my 9am appointment. Because of my VBACS status it's a super small dose, like a quarter of a pill, and the pill was really small. We will see what it does! I had contractions all day yesterday, sometimes timeable and sometimes sporadic. So I know my
Body is doing something...I just don't know what.

@OhCaptain: Isn't that the truth? I find myself saying "what are you doing in there, baby?!" and "what are you doing, body?" multiple times every day at this point.. Good luck!
.@buttermilk: Agreed. No such thing as TMI!

@OhCaptain: @FliegepilzHut: thanks girls! Excited for things to get going for you!
I actually feel awesome today! Have been so sluggish but idk, I just woke up feeling so excited and like baby is going to come soon, and hey even if I'm wrong - she is still gonna come soon!!!

Aaaand I just ripped a giant hole in my maternity leggings. The end is near ladies!

@lilteacherbee: Good luck with your c-section! I totally get being nervous before a major surgery, but I'm sure you're in good hands.
@OhCaptain: Keep us updated. Hopefully things start moving along!
@buttermilk: The babies could come any day! It is exciting!!

I felt like death last night—overheated, nauseous, bad heartburn etc. then I had some small contractions, which I thought might turn into something overnight, but nope!!
pear / 1809 posts
@Mrs. J: Sorry to hear you had a rough night! Every time I get BH contractions or start feeling off, I wonder if I'm going into labor, but it looks like baby is staying put for now. It's frustrating, I know!

My BIL lives about 3 hours away and his birthday is actually the same day as my due date (this Sunday). My in-laws usually drive up to spend the day with him, but they are my go-to babysitters for my son, so they are on-call for when I go into labor. I found out that my FIL will go celebrate with my BIL, but my MIL will stay home. I feel bad about her missing out on her son's birthday, but if I do go into labor, 3 hours is a long drive for them to make. I really don't want to bring my son to the hospital with us.

Today is my due date! My toddler had me up a lot last night so hubs let me sleep in this morning and then woke me up with breakfast in bed! Had been a relaxing morning.
We had family over last night for dinner and even though I was dreading it, it turned out to be really fun and my house didn't end up as much of a disaster that I thought it would.
Definitely ready for baby to come but I don't feel like she's on her way any time all that soon.

@getjazzy: happy due date!!
Had my last growth scan this morning! baby is measuring in the 50th percentile for everything and they are estimating his weight at 7lbs 8oz (which almost a full pound big than my daughters birth weight - on her due date!). I celebrated with a doughnut on my way to work

Well, I'm still only a one! But, my midwife did a non stress test and baby looks and sounds great, and has plenty of fluid. We aren't going to be doing any more induction stuff other than a 1/4 pill of cytotec every other day. Baby is low but not engaged. I was pretty relieved to hear that she didn't feel like we needed to jump right into a foley bulb to try to induce. So, I WONT necessarily have a baby this week like I initially thought and that's fine with me. My body just likes to Cook babies longer I guess!

so my midwife sent me to my ob this morning, my ob sent me to the hospital, the hospital sent me to the "bigger" Hospital in the next city and now I'm waiting... No one is telling me anything. Just that they don't want to risk anything so they sent me to the next one... Ugh.

@lil owl: That's really unsettling. They haven't given you any reason at all? Are you having any labor signs at all? At least it seems like you are in a good place for anything that could be happening, even if you don't know what it is.

I had an amazing 39 week appointment today. Well, compared to last week's appointment and the failed cervix exam. I don't think I disclosed this before, but I have a condition which makes my pelvic muscles sometimes involuntarily spasm shut with insertion. This didn't happen last week, but had let the OB know that I have it. She had given me the line "well do you think it'll happen when you're in labor?" without really caring about it. Today's OB was sooo much better. She said that there was no need to do an internal exam, that they only do it as a baseline to see how fast I've progressed if I were to show up in labor tomorrow. As far as when I'm in labor and in the hospital, she said that women with my condition can usually be 100% compliant with the checks during labor (just nature taking over) and because the cervix is closer, the exam isn't as far reaching and less likely to cause spasms. Worst case, she explained, they'll tell I'm in labor just by contractions and put in an epidural and do exams that way. She was so empathetic and the complete opposite of what I had last week.
My fundal is only 37cm, so measuring slightly behind, but possibly due to the baby dropping? Does that sound right to anyone else?
I totally celebrated with a frosted lemonade from CFA on my way home

@lilteacherbee: Will be thinking about you tomorrow! If I make it to my c-section date, I have to be at the hospital at the same time for my 7:30 procedure! As my OB says, better than the 1pm call time because you have to stop eating at midnight regardless haha.
@OhCaptain: So glad you had a good appointment!!
@lil owl: That's awful of them to be keeping you in the dark like that! Will keep you guys in my thoughts! I hope they give you some more information soon.
@Ms. RV: Hurray for a fantastic appointment and what sounds like a great OB too!! Honestly, my internal exam have only ever led to disappointment anyway so I say you're better off without! Glad to know they are prepared with how they can best treat you when labour does begin though, that must have been reassuring to hear.
Coming to the end of due date and no action going on. We went for a walk this morning, been guzzling RRL tea and sexy time with the hubs doesn't seem to be making much of a difference but there's not harm in trying I suppose, besides how hilariously awkward it is haha. I figure he won't get any for minimum 6 weeks so maybe it's not such a bad thing that he gets some extra now. Planning on doing some yoga when LO goes to bed (today would have been my class day if it weren't a holiday here) and then some bouncing on my birth ball. My fortune after chinese food yesterday was "A positive life-changing even will take place very soon". I'm hoping the very soon part is literal haha.

@Ms. RV I am a couple weeks behind you (will be 37w tomorrow). I was measuring on track at my 35 week appt. At my 36w appointment last week, I was measuring about 32 cm!! I was a little freaked out but my OB said it's almost certainly from the baby dropping. That being said, it was enough of a difference that I got a growth ultrasound, which turned out to be normal. I feel like my belly is bigger than ever, definitely not smaller - but I'll be curious to see what it is tomorrow at my next appointment!

@getjazzy: Happy due date!
@lilteacherbee: So exciting!
So it begins... My blood pressures have started running high over the last 48hours...but ONLY if I'm up moving around. I was seen by my OB (to recheck bp) and got a vigorous (though not painful) cervical check (3cm, 80%) today...which unfortunately resulted in the unintended rupture of my membranes. So now we're headed to the hospital...likely to get induced/augmented if regular contractions don't start on their own through the evening. Wish us luck!
