@buttermilk: That's so annoying! Hopefully your comment stops the confusion.

@Ms. RV: I would be the same way! HB is addicting.

I went to the grocery store this morning to stock up on a few things, and while I was there I picked DH up some beer. At the checkout, the lady working there kept staring at me as I put the items on the belt. Then she asked for my ID literally three times. After I gave it to her, she said in a shocked voice, "You passed! You look soooo young!!" For some reason, this really irritated me. I'm almost 28, and she's saying I look 20 or younger! Plus, I had my two year old with me, so I apparently look like a teen mom who is about to pop out another. And if I wanted to drink underage, would I really buy a dark lager beer? I don't even like beer!

Just dropped off my girls at daycare and preschool and I'm headed to the hospital. Ahh!

Ewh, a mom that I don't know asked if I was close to my due date and I told her today is actually the day of my scheduled c-section. "Oh, interesting...babies should not be scheduled! Maybe you should let nature decide." Whatever!

@autumnlove: I would have asked her how close she was to her due date. That would have been really mean (unless she was pregnant) but she kind of deserved it!

@autumnlove: wow. I love how people think they have the right to share there opinions so freely when it comes to all things pregnancy/childbirth/parenting!!

@Autumnlove good luck! Some ppl need to just shut their mouths!

@Lilteacherbee congrats!!! Can't wait to see a pic.

I had my 37w appointment today - 1cm dilated, 80-90% effaced, basically no change from last week. I just sort of have this feeling after all the preterm labor scares I have a few more weeks of being pregnant ahead of me!

@aprild: Omg, piss off of all piss offs. I went to the liquor store with DH a month or so ago and since I'm you know, hugely pregnant, he carried my toddler so that he wouldn't touch anything and I carried our basket. He picked a selection of different tall cans for him and my dad for father's day and when we went to pay, the lady asked for my ID and refused to sell to us if I didn't show it because I carried the basket. So I had to haul my pregnant self across the parking lot (we weren't parked close) in a heat wave. I'm almost 29 and I definitely don't look like a minor. I'm with my 31 year old husband, my 2 year old son and I'm 8 months pregnant.. REALLY?! So I showed it to her and then my husband proceeded to pay while I fumed beside him. She was going to let him buy without asking for HIS ID even though he was the one paying but he was made so he said in a snarky tone "Aren't you going to ask for my ID, since you know, I'M the one BUYING the alcohol?". Some people are asses just because they can be.

@autumnlove: That's so rude!! Babies can come however they need to.. as long as they eventually get the heck out! (YOU HEAR THAT BABY JAZZY?! ). Good luck!!

@lilteacherbee: Yay! On my way over to read now!

@Mrs.RV: I've pretty much checked out to a degree too and I am working until the baby comes (hopefully soon)!! Ditto on HB being addicting - DH has been giving me a (jokingly) hard time about it lately

@MrsADS: congrats on getting to 37 weeks!

So exciting following all of you as initial labor starts! I feel like I still have forever as I won't be 37 weeks until Friday, but I do feel the lightening crotch sometimes and I know he is low. But it just seems so far off... and I am so huge and it is so hot! Whine whine whine.

@getjazzy: cmon on out Baby Jazzy!!!! DS and I walked to the library. Hoping it gets something going for real here!! Unfortunately, it seems he may have given me his cold. Sweet.

@autumnlove: uh, that would have pissed me off so much! She has NO idea what your situation is!!

  18. MrsADS

    nectarine / 2262 posts

@Laurabear you're only a few days behind me. I will whine with you since we most likely have a lot longer left to be pregnant! LOL. I am hot and exhausted all the time, I can't sleep, I have horrible leg cramps, constant contractions and cramping, etc.... I feel your pain!

  19. LauraBear

    cherry / 215 posts

@getjazzy: @MrsADS: thanks!! This last month is tough!!! So braxton hicks contractions are mostly when your stomach/uterus tightens up? I can't really tell sometimes if they are BHs or the baby just being really tense in there... sounds weird, but doesn't always feel like a contraction should. Not that I have really felt one before!

  20. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

@LauraBear: I thought the same thing until my belly got all tight during a midwife exam and she said that was def a BH contraction. Never hurts tho!

  21. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

Ya, the tightening is BH. My contractions didn't tighten my whole belly like that. Or maybe it did, but I didn't feel the all over tightening sensation or the numbness you kind of feel all over. Mine were like bad oeriod cramps down low and around my back at first and then they for wayyy more painful but definitely different than the all over tightness of a BH. Sometimes baby stretching brings on BH for me, so it could be s combination of the two.

@getjazzy: I went for a walk and it was easier than last week and resulted in less contractions!

  23. LauraBear

    cherry / 215 posts

@buttermilk: good to know, thanks! Mine don't hurt either at all, which is partly why I'm not sure if they're actual BHs or not. @getjazzy: thanks! I think you are right - when the baby stretches weirdly, my stomach kind of contorts and gets all tight for a while so maybe it is just bringing on a BH!

We're going to a Wilco concert next Tuesday and I'll be 37 and a half weeks - hope he comes out soon after!!!

39 wk checkup today. Everything still perfect! They may do a vaginal exam and membrane sweep if I want next week. And will do monitoring and NST at 41 Wks, but let's hope baby comes before then!!!

@OhCaptain: I went for a walk too and it was like one long BH, my belly was rock solid and I was crampy the whole time. I came home and it went away and then I got tired and napped for nearly 2 hours hahaha. Not sure if that's helpful or not but I figured what the hell, only so much time left to get my epic naps in.

I have a question that doesn't really merit its own thread, so maybe some of the non-FTMs on here would know. I nursed L with the SNS for a good bit of time today (yay!), and afterwards when I pumped I got significantly less milk from that boob than the other (usually they're pretty close to the same). Is it safe to assume that means she actually nursed effectively enough to get milk directly from me in addition to the SNS? I would think so, except she still took a lot from the bottle, so if she got milk from me too she ate a lot this feeding. Though that's possible; she's very erratic in the amounts she takes.

    @Mrs. J: getting close!

  36. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

@Torchwood: It's hard to know for sure, which obviously you've figured out by now haha. It's ether she nursed quite effectively and he breast was pretty empty, or once you switched to pump after, your body inadvertently knew based on the different style of sucking that it was no longer baby. I never was able to pump and empty my breasts even near as efficiently as baby could and it's almost like, my body knew it wasn't the real thing so it was lazy about its output. It's a great sign though that she was at the breast for an extended amount of time. I'm assuming the lactation consultant taught you how to watch for the swallowing motions to see that baby isn't just suckling at the breast right? If she was continuously doing the suck-suck-swallow pattern I would say it sounds like she got a lot of milk straight from the tap

@Mrs. J: Wooooo!! Hope things are starting for you!

  37. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@getjazzy: Well, she drained the SNS, so she was definitely swallowing. There's just no way to know if she was getting any from me. It's so frustrating! But thank you for the input!

So everything was going smoothly today. I went for a walk around the floor and when I came back, DH was complaining about his back hurting around his kidney area. It got worse really fast and he ended up going to the ER, where they found out he has a kidney stone. Seriously?! Lovely timing!

@getjazzy: That would annoy me too! Do they really think pregnant women are going to drink a bunch of alcohol? Maybe there are people like that, but I would like to think they would give us the benefit of the doubt.

@LauraBear: That's what BH contractions feel like for me. They are sometimes a little uncomfortable, but mostly they just feel like my stomach going tight.

@buttermilk: Glad you had a good appointment! Hopefully baby will come soon!

@Mrs. J: Exciting! Come on baby!!

@OhCaptain: I am feeling impatient too! I just want to know when the baby is coming, so I can stop thinking about it all the time. I'm worried whenever I go out in public that my water will break and freak out everyone around me! Not knowing is hard!
