@aprild: How are you feeling? I wondered if maybe your sickness was the start of labour for you.

My nausea wore off by the afternoon, although I felt a burst of energy, so I did some more organizing and cleaning of the house. DH came home a little early, so I was giving him a long list of chores to do. I'm sure he though that was fun haha. I've had some BH contractions today, but nothing that made me think it was labor. Still waiting for baby to decide he's ready to come out.

@getjazzy: Just posted an update! Thanks for checking in, but it looks like I'm not in labor yet.

The contractions and cramps I was feeling last week have pretty much subsided this week. And I had made zero progress at last week's doctors appointment, so I'm not expecting labor to start anytime soon.

That's frustrating but also good, considering my mom is having knee surgery today. She fell about 2 weeks ago on a puddle of water in the grocery store and tore the tendon that holds her kneecap in place. Her surgery and recovery will be fairly extensive, and she could be out of work almost as long as I am. The timing couldn't be worse, because I know how much she wants to be around to help after the baby comes. She's hoping I'll hold out a couple more weeks so she can recover some, but I'm conflicted about it. I want her to be able to visit, but I'm so tired of being pregnant! Maybe it's a good thing it's not up to me, and we'll just have to wait and see when the little miss decides to show up...

PS. Congrats to all those who've had their babies recently! So exciting! I have a feeling I'll be one of those who goes past the due date.

@getjazzy: to answer about DS1, despite my weird labor, he was not posterior! My body does strange things apparently.

    @lil owl: congrats!!!
@krispi: oh, you never know! My first was ten days late and this guy came on his due date.

@Mrs. J: Very interesting! In any case, I'm sooo glad this delivery went much better!

@krispi: Sorry to hear about your mom. My grandma just had surgery a few days ago, so I was a little nervous about her health. I'm glad I didn't go into labor then, since I know she wants to come visit the new baby and hear all about the birth. You never know when the baby could come though!

@getjazzy: Are you having any labor signs yet? I know you are trying for a VBAC like me. How far past your due date are you going to go? I haven't reached my due date yet (it's Sunday), but I'm getting nervous about going over.

@aprild: I am currently 3 days past due. My OB has me scheduled for a repeat c-section next Wednesday the 12th if baby hasn't made a move by then (I will be 9 days late by then) because she won't induce a vbac unfortunately. I have been trying basically everything I can think of, to get things moving especially the top 3 that are not suppose to be old wives tales (walking, bouncing on a yoga ball and sex) to no avail. I have an appointment today so we'll see if my cervix has changed at all. I kind of feel like I might go in to labour before c-section day, but I will likely cut it very close.

Next week my DH is on holidays Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday he will start his parental leave (unless baby is born before that, then he will start his leave when baby is born) so I'm hoping we can make a trip to the zoo and do some good walking. That's what got my labour started with my first.

What is your plan? Will your practice induce a vbac?

@abmamma: how are you feeling today? I swear I feel like I'm coming down with a cold or something too now. feel very sinusy.

@getjazzy: have you tried using your breast pump for nipple stimulation? I'm thinking I might try it this weekend. Due date is on Tuesday.

@buttermilk: feeling ok- definitely not as bad as I had feared yesterday. Still feel a like I'm fighting something off though and unfortunately I slept like crap again last night which doesn't help.

Had my 39 week appointment today- no change since last week which is mildly disappointing. But staying hopeful - working from home so will spend as much of the day as possible on the yoga ball. She did suggest Benadryl at night to help with sinusy stuff and sleep.

Hope you aren't getting sick too!!

@buttermilk: I haven't but last night I made a plan to! I want to sterilize it first so I can keep any colostrum that I might collect. I just made myself a note to do that when I get home from the OB so I can try. If she says I'm not dilated at all, I might cry lol.

I think I may have just lost part of my mucus plug?! It wasn't bloody or anything though. Just looked like... well... thick snot. LOL! It didn't seem like a huge amount so I can't imagine that is the whole thing. I am trying not to get my hopes up because I know it can be weeks sometimes between losing the plug and going into labor, but it seems like a good sign!!

@getjazzy: I hope you go into labor soon! My practice won't induce for a VBAC, and they won't let me go more than a couple days over my due date, so I'll probably have a c-section by Tuesday if baby doesn't come before then.

@MrsADS: I think that is a good sign! Maybe baby will come soon!

@MrsADS: Crossing my fingers for you! Definitely a step in the right direction!

@aprild: I feel like I might be joining you.

Just got back from the OB for my "40 week" appointment. BP and everything looks good. NO DILATION. NOTHING. Bah!!! 3 days late already.. this baby is not planning on coming out anytime soon.

@getjazzy: @aprild: I'm with you ladies, attempting a VBAC. I'm currently 5 days over due. I also can't have an induction, just a foley or if I'm far enough along she will "nick my bag of waters." I was contracting last night (with low back pain) and I felt like I was having contractions until about 3 am. I went to bed at midnight and woke up every 50-60 mins until three. And then they just stopped. I've had like 6 contractions total today, and I feel great! Went for a walk, still felt great. I don't want to feel great I want to go into labor! Baby was in good position yesterday, no idea about now.

@MrsADS: exciting!! I have some snottier looking discharge lately but nothing substantial. FX for you!

@abmamma: glad you're doing ok. I'm holding steady as well, don't feel any worse than this morning so hopefully I can fend it off.

@buttermilk: I either boil in a pot of water or use medela steam sterlizing bags (super convenient).

@MrsADS: so exciting!! keep us updated!

I am having some increasing pain/stress in my crotch and my BHs are getting more frequent. I think he is definitely engaged - it just hurts to walk more now and I have the waddle Still think I'm a couple weeks off, though!

  26. krispi

    clementine / 911 posts

@aprild: Thanks! They found a few more torn ligaments that they had to put back together when they were doing the surgery and that didn't show up on the x-ray, so I hope that doesn't prolong her recovery. She's home and resting now, so we'll just have to see how things go from here.

I've noticed a lot more pressure lower in my pelvis over the last 2 days. It definitely feels like she's working her way down in there. Hopefully that's a good sign that things are getting ready, although I don't know if that means it will be any sooner rather than later. Still minimal contractions, no mucus plug or anything like that.

Today is my last day coming into the office though! I'll be working from home until she gets here, possibly up to 2 weeks, but it's nice not having to worry about commuting, walking around this huge building (which has gotten a LOT harder this week), or wearing real pants. Seriously, since my belly dropped, the seams in my maternity pants dig into my stomach and it hurts so bad by the end of the day...

If any of you get to labor in a tub, DO IT! I wanted to last time, but it didn't happen. This time–absolutely loved it!!!!!

@MrsADS: yay!! Hope this starts good labor vibes!
@getjazzy: I'm kind of happy they never checked me until my 40 week appt yday! I hated hearing how not dilated I was with DS1

@abmamma: Did you try Benadryl? I had an unexplained rash very early in the third tri and was told to try it. Fetal movement slowed down/got weak for like 16 hours after it. I was too scared to take it again and I only took a half dose.

I felt a ton of cramp/contractions today. Enough that I stopped counting. I was walking to my desk today and had to slow down a lot because it was so uncomfortable. And of course I had to be walking through a very well-populated part of the factory. Quite a few people staring They don't happen so much at home, which is making me reconsider my decision to stop working tomorrow. I guess I'll just be doing several laps around my housing plan every day!

@getjazzy: No dilation is a bummer! But you never know what could happen. I've heard of people going from nothing to full on labor in a day.

@OhCaptain: I hope you get your VBAC! These babies need to hurry up and come soon!

@krispi: I only have a couple pairs of pants and shorts that I find comfortable at this point. I feel you on the band digging into the belly! I need something loose and stretchy, otherwise I feel way too restricted.

@Mrs. J: I labored in the tub with my first. Since I labored naturally, it was one of the most comfortable positions for me, plus the warm water was soothing. I don't think I'll get to do it this time around, since I need to be continually monitored for my VBAC.

@Ms. RV: I think walking/being active definitely helps things progress! Taking walks is a good idea.

My grandmother and her husband want to be in town for the birth, which is nice of them, but it's also stressing me out a little. They already booked a hotel room for Sat, Sun and Mon night, and they said they may extend their stay if necessary. Now I feel like the clock is on, and everyone is just waiting for me to go into labor. It doesn't help that I get multiple text messages a day from family/friends asking me if I'm experiencing labor symptoms yet.

I've also had lots of Braxton hicks this evening. No pain but omg so tight. I went to a new bar opening with DH and was so HANGRY I stopped at five guys on the way home and just wolfed that shit down lol.

Do you guys think she has dropped? She looks so low to me. I don't have a lot of crotch pressure, but I can't imagine there is much more room for her to drop!

Ooh my friend told me about this other due date calculator that tells you your probability of going into spontaneous labor on/by certain dates. It seems most women will def go by 41 Wks. Lots of info here so may be best viewed on a computer.

@buttermilk: I have had this open in a tab on my phone for month. They also have one for probability of miscarriage that I had open until 12 weeks. Graphs and probabilities can be so reassuring for nerds like me.
