Did anyone else make a Christmas announcement?
Telling our families over Christmas went well on both sides. Both moms teared up and were emotional. My mom jumped up and shouted, while his mom was really quiet and speechless for a minute. My dad was petty quiet too, but he’d just had a medical procedure done that morning and wasn’t feeling well. He told me this morning he's excited. We managed to capture both moments on video

@krispi: We didn't announce no anyone new. My family already knows, but we will announce to the in laws next weekend when we celebrate the holidays with them. DH told his brother recently while they were hanging out so him and SIL definitely know.

We put ultrasound pictures in my mother in law's stocking! We emailed them to other family as well as my best friend. Everyone was super excited!

How is every one doing?
My morning sickness seems to have slowed, didn't vomit yesterday and only vomited twice today! So much better then all day every day like I was.
My current craving is roast pork - had it for dinner at christmas and it's basically all I've eaten since! Dh is making me roast pork for dinner tonight so hopefully that will last me a few days.
I'm defnitiely getting a bump and desperately need to go shopping for maternity clothes, but it's currently summer and I'll give birth in winter so finding stuff that will last will be a challenge. Plus maternity clothes are super expensive here.
9 weeks today! Going to book my 12 week scan sometime this week

@MrsStar: I am starting to feel pretty sick. The last few days have been tough, though no actual vomiting yet. I started unisom/B6 today and I'm hoping I feel better. Glad to hear you are better than you have been!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsStar: @Mrs. Microscope: on Friday I was like hmmm I wonder if I should have MS by now (I had it til about week 32 with LO.) Bc of everything that went on two weeks ago I was nervous! I took another preg test though and it turned positive before I even finishing dipping it haha. And then boom- yestersay and today I have been hit by nausea. Go figure.
U/S tomorrow to check in again since my #'s were good after the bleeding, hope all is perfect!!! Fingers crossed.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsStar: I'm exhausted, but my nausea seems to be slowing down a bit, thank goodness. I still have headaches almost every day I'm in the middle of my 2 week break (well I go in Friday for a teacher workday) and I think being home with my toddler is more exhausting than going to work!
@kjpugs: Good luck with your ultrasound! How far along do you think you are?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@lilteacherbee: according to LMp, 6w1d. I thought I O'd really early though making me 5-6 days ahead. But when I had bleeding the baby wasn't visible on u/s which means LMP should be more correct bc it was really early.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@MrsStar: my nausea is slowing down a little, but I mostly feel like crap all day now. Tart lemon/citrus is my only relief, so DH filled my stocking with lemon jolly ranchers.
Also, holy zits, Batman. My poor chest and back!

My ob appointment got moved.... so I'm waiting till Friday...
@MrsStar: I'm nauseous all the time. I have a feeling my meds aren't really working... but so far I haven't lost as much weight as with DS.
pear / 1809 posts
Sorry I've been MIA lately. Been busy with the holidays and feeling awful with morning sickness. I'm barely eating, and I'm vomiting at least a couple times a day. This morning I was making my son breakfast, so I decided to microwave him a sausage patty. As soon as I touched it and smelled it, I started vomiting! My doctor prescribed zofran for me, but I haven't taken any pills yet. I'm too worried about the possible side effects, and I keep reading how the safety is questionable.
For those of you who are on anti-nausea meds, what are you taking? How did you decide? Do you feel like it's safe to take?

Just stopping by to say hello to all of you! There are so many "familiar" faces in this group and I hope you all have a great pregnancy and specifically first trimester! Having an August baby was so much fun. Christmas was perfect this year with our little guy. He was grabbing at all the paper and playing with all the relatives!
nectarine / 2086 posts
Hi! Hope everyone had a nice holiday! It was so much fun telling our families on Christmas. I made sure to reiterate how nervous I was since we haven't even had an ultrasound yet but my mom and grandma insisted I was crazy and baby will most likely be fine and I should just stop worrying about it!
I've still been feeling pretty good. 8 weeks tomorrow. Little to no nausea - only sometimes in the morning but it's mild. My other symptoms have been needing to pee in the middle of the night and generally lots more peeing in the evenings. And also I've been waking up with total dry mouth every night for 2 weeks now. First appt is next Tues. I wonder if I'll get to hear the heartbeat.
Oh and my daily cramping has pretty much stopped!
In other news I totally peed on some baking soda this am for a gender test and got no fizz which means girl result. But who knows, I'm not getting my hopes up bc girls are rare on DH's side of the family, although all of my family has a "gut feeling" we are having a girl. Anyone else had luck with these gender tests?
persimmon / 1179 posts
@buttermilk: Oh god, the dry mouth.. So horrid. You're not suffering that one alone. And funny about the baking soda test! I had never heard that. Totally going to try for fun haha.
I was following the thread about ramzi's method and if my ultrasound was transverse then it looks like another boy. That's the only other wives tale I've looked in to though.
kiwi / 641 posts
I am sorry so many of you are dealing with such terrible morning sickness/nausea!! I have had a little nausea here and there but nothing compared to what so many of you seem to be going through-- I was fortunate not to experience any true m/s with DD too so hoping this is the worst of it. I am, however, experiencing the extreme first trimester fatigue. I remember this from last time too. Some days, I seem ok...others are a struggle to make it through the day. And 9pm bedtime is feeling late these days
@buttermilk: I've never heard of the baking soda test before! I may try it for fun. I saw the Ramzi u/s thread this weekend and according to that (assuming my u/s pic was transverse which who knows if it was), we are having a boy. But I won't believe anything until the 20 week scan!
clementine / 911 posts
My nausea still hasn't been too bad, which has surprised me. But heartburn and gas have been through the roof! I made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich yesterday, and I don't know what it was, but I felt fuller and grosser than if I'd eaten 3 Christmas dinners!
I've also been more tired than normal and needing to take more naps.
I made it to 7 weeks yesterday and am hoping to tell my BFF at dinner tonight! Also, only one week left until the first ultrasound!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@getjazzy: it's awful right!? keeping water by the bed has def helped but I was so surprised by that symptom!
@getjazzy: @abmamma: let us know what result you get, some ppl say it's 75% accurate, but I think you're supposed to wait until 10 weeks to do it. It tests your pH balance. More acidic urine tends to favor a boy and less acidic means girl. So if you get a fizzy reaction you can expect a boy. Lol.
@krispi: I've also had some extreme fatigue like twice now. I figured it was just in my head since it isn't all the time, but can it come and go like that?
pomelo / 5132 posts
@buttermilk: I think I did it with DS and it was right. I also knew by our timing with him. My SIL thought she would never have a girl bc her husband's fam has none, but she had a girl!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@buttermilk: @getjazzy: The dry mouth is awful! Twice last week, I woke up with super dry mouth and I had actually been dreaming about being super thirsty.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
I just called and scheduled my NT scan at MFM for 1/20. I already had a regular OB appointment for later that day, so I figured I'd get it all done at once since I already took off work. I'm excited about hopefully knowing that all chromosomes are normal and finding out gender by the beginning of Feb (assuming they offer me the blood test like last time).

Here's my (late) answer to the questions!
EDD: 8/25 based on LMP
Child # 1
Tell us a fun fact about yourself: Ummm... I don't know! LOL
How old are you?: 28
Are you finding out the sex or Team Green? Definitely finding out!
What does this gender chart predict for you http://www.babycenter.com/chinese-gender-predictor?: Girl
What is your gut feeling on the sex?: I have no clue! Literally everyone we know who's had a baby in the past 2-3 years has ALL been boys, so I'm not sure if that makes it more likely to be a boy or maybe it's our turn to have a girl!
When approximately will you find out?: No idea
When's your next appointment?: Friday 1/2 at 6w3d (by LMP) - this is the first u/s at my RE's office. I am nervous. They said my betas looked good but I am thinking maybe they should have been higher, and between beta #2 and #3 they doubled but not as fast as they did between #1 and #2.
My symptoms have been fairly manageable. A little waves of feeling queasy but not awful. Mostly just car sick. And tired. And my boobs hurt but not quite as much as they did.
I told my mom and sis over Christmas and they were SO excited! It was awesome.
I am getting really nervous for my appointment on Friday!
nectarine / 2994 posts
Well I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one dealing with morning sickness! Had a bad day yesterday of it but today seems to be better. It's summer here and the heat is killing me. Finally got some maternity clothes yesterday so will be living in them from now on!
@kjpugs: How was your ultrasound?
