@MrsStar: We've been discussing names ever since we got the BFP because LO was named as soon as we found out he was a boy. I wanted to find a name that I love just as much. I *think* we've decided on a boy name and a girl name!

Aaand pregnancy brain has kicked in. Left my purse at the IL's. I never leave my purse anywhere. Thankfully BIL works very near our house and he hadn't left yet when they found it, so he's bringing it. FIL lives about an hour away so it would have been super annoying to have to go get it.

Hi moms So excited to join the August 2015 mamas!! Congrats to everyone!
Location: The South
EDD: August 23rd, 2015
How far along: 6 weeks
First child? I have a 2 year old little boy, had a miscarriage in the Spring, so this is my 3rd little one:)
First doctor appointment: I went in on Monday and saw a tiny little heart beat and it warmed my heart so!
Any symptoms so far? Yes!!! The smells are like super powered. I am going to the store today to get all unscented stuff b/c i can't stomach any scents (lotion, dish soap, shampoo, etc!) Any brand recommendations? Also, nausea has kicked in full swing. So much for cooking the next several weeks!
Who have you told? Just my hubby

Wow, this thread took off yesterday!
I told my best friend at dinner Monday night, and it went well. She was super happy for us and even teared up a bit.
I'm jealous that so many of you are making plans or already having genetic testing done. I won't find out about any test plans until my appointment on the 12th. I'm hoping we can do one of the early tests because of my age though.
I've been super hungry lately! I didn't think that would kick in until later. I'm still really tired but not too nauseous.
Does anyone have fun plans for tonight? We're staying in and relaxing. I thought about having some friends over but just haven't felt that up to it. Most of our friends must be doing the same thing, because we haven't gotten any invites either.

@mommygrace: I use seventh generation laundry detergent because it's one of the few more "natural" brands that does an unscented. DH doesn't like his clothes to have a smell. They have unscented dish soap and things too.
So in addition to leaking, pretty sure my boobs have gone up a cup size in about 3 days. They've been getting steadily bigger since I got pregnant (which is totally normal for me), but holy crap they're just huge all of a sudden! I mostly wear cookie bras cause they're so comfortable, and I might have to pull out my "full size" ones a lot sooner than expected!

@krispi: We're totally not go out and party on New Years people. I think since we've been together (ten years) we've done something maybe twice? But he is coming home from work early, so we'll be able to hang out more at least!

Also, has anyone else noticed odd changes in taste? I know that's normal, but mine is that nothing tastes like it has enough salt, which seems like a weird one.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Torchwood: I weaned a few weeks ago, so I feel like my boobs have gotten way smaller, but I don't want to buy new bras because I know they're just going to get bigger again!
@mommygrace: Welcome and congrats!!

@Torchwood: sweet things don't really taste good, but I'm not a sugar fiend so I'm not missing out. Cravings have been intense! Today its chicken tikka masala!

@Mrs. Microscope: I've been wanting all spicy things! I think I'm over spicing when I cook, but thankfully DH likes things spicy.

We told our nanny today and she didn't quit! Woohoo, LOL
We have FOUR pregnant relatives (two of u sister in laws, a half sister, and a sister) all due in July so we have been talking about names. Most of them aren't going to share before birth so we want to discuss a plan since we don't want to have a name picked then have a family member use it a month before we planned to! So far it seems like that won't be an issue though- fingers crossed!

I had some light brown spotting last night but none today. I POAS and it was "still" a positive. The first trimester makes me so nervous.
@mommygrace: welcome and congrats!!
@kjpugs: yay for your nanny and pregnant family and friends!
@Torchwood: I'm craving spicy!
@lilteacherbee: I went from a C to small A during my last pregnancy!
@krispi: we are just staying in tonight! I'm glad your friend was excited!

@autumnlove: boo to spotting! Take it easy!
DH is taking me out to dinner as opposed to ordering in! Nothing fancy, just our local ramen noodle bar, but its still going to be fun!

Happy New Year August mamas!!
We have our first u/s tomorrow with the RE, I am excited but nervous. I am feeling like crap, the nausea is getting progressively worse everyday. 6w2d today. I am trying not to think about going back to work on Monday, I don't know how I can do it feeling like this.
Anyone have any m/s tips or tricks?? I seem to feel better once I eat protein - I ate a scrambled egg, PB toast and applesauce for lunch and felt SO much better... well, for about 45 minutes, and then I had to lay down for like 2 hours because I felt so rotten and awful. So I don't know what to do!
I also feel bad because the stuff I can eat is such crap - a few bites of Kraft mac & cheese, saltines, etc.! I haven't had a vegetable in days!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
I think I saw some others were taking Zofran? I took 1 pill a day and then every other day through 32 weeks with my first. This time my m/s seems worse if possible. I dunno if it's the dissolvable zofran vs pills like last time, but it's 6 hours between doses and I took some at 3 and have felt miserable since 4 or 5. Ugh!
Also, someone in a huge mommy group I'm in on FB posted that her doctor won't prescribe zofran bc it's not safe in the first tri. WUT? I can't even process and have no idea what to do.
@MrsADS: you aren't alone! I told DH I needed to focus on calcium and protein. All I can think about today is Buffalo Wild Wings haha. But it's 30 minutes away
persimmon / 1179 posts
@MrsADS: Do whatever it takes to get by, saltines, Mac n cheese.. Whatever! For me personally, eating several snacks instead of a few meals made me feel better. Never let me get too hungry, which is when I feel the nausea. I also find sour things help in a pinch so maybe get some sour candy to carry around a pop one when you're feeling ill. Hope your ultrasound goes well!

@MrsADS: eat whatever makes you feel better! Sours lemon has been my savior—my stocking was filled with lemon jolly ranchers.

@lilteacherbee: I was just thinking about this! Yay!
Eta: I just noticed that no one is due on my birthday! (8/17) I'm glad I'm due earlier—my mom's bday is 8/19 and our birthdays are so close because I was born 6.5 weeks early!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Mrs. Microscope: Yessss! I'm excited!!
@Mrs. J: My sister's birthday is the 18th and if I'm remembering correctly, your sister's is the same as mine, year and all (9/8)! Weird! I'm about 95% sure I'm scheduling a RCS, so baby will be here sometime in the first week of August.

So, my ob was sick, again today.... but her dad was there. I must have looked very confused because he explained to me right away that he's not just my ob's dad he's also an ob so he knows what he's doing. He's a real doctor.... etc.
He changed my due date to August 6 and told me he has never seen such an active little bean before. And that he looks like DH... But also like a gummy bear with a giant head.... hmm...

My u/s went great! Everything looks great. Due date remains 8/25. We heard the heartbeat and saw it, 117 bpm. Just unbelievable

Is anyone, especially second time (or more) mamas, feeling like they're already showing? I walked by a mirror today and was like dang. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and I look like I did at 12-13 weeks last time. I'm only 5' with a short torso, so I thought it was obvious fairly early on with #1. I have a feeling people are going to start suspecting soon.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@lilteacherbee: I do but I think mostly it's just residual chunk from having my daughter. At least now I can "own" it instead of being embarassed!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@lilteacherbee: Yep! I feel like it's so obvious, though it's not much. Definitely showing more than I was at this point (almost 9 weeks) last time! And my boobs are way bigger already then they were last time!
nectarine / 2262 posts
@KJPugs I highly recommend it! Usually if I'm feeling sick (non-preg), I like Sprite or ginger ale, but for some reason really sweet stuff like soda is turning my stomach. So I mix half gatorade, half water so it's kind of sweet-salty and it tastes gooood.
