@MrsADS: so glad baby is okay! Take care of yourself!

@Mrs. J: I'm a microbiologist, and I just wanted to say it's way too early to know if the strep will stick around until the end. Get tested again right before birth. As for right now, just be vigilant in hygiene and reduce the sugar in your diet. I bet it will clear up in the next 25-30 weeks!

@MrsADS: Glad everything looks good! Don't be afraid to stay in and rest if you need it.

My appointment today went well! Everything is measuring right on target according to my LMP. I'm 8w1d today, and the baby is half an inch. We were able to see the heart beating at 178 bmp. She said they don't like to use the doppler until 12 weeks, so we didn't get to hear it today, but seeing it was still pretty amazing. My husband was pretty quiet, soaking it all in. Unfortunately, we both had to head back to work after the appointment, but we will probably go out to dinner tonight to celebrate.

@Mrs. Microscope: I thought it was early, but then I read this : "GBS can also cause bladder infections, with or without symptoms. Your provider should do a urine culture for GBS and other bacteria (this is not the standard prenatal urine “dipstick” check) at the first prenatal visit. GBS in your urine means that you may be heavily colonized which puts your baby at greater risk. (2) If your urine tests positive, your provider should consider you as “GBS colonized” for this pregnancy so that you receive IV antibiotics for GBS when labor starts/your water breaks."

I go next week Tuesday, so I'll see what the midwife says.

@krispi: congrats on your great u/s! must be very reassuring.

@mrsads: so glad you have a positive update too!

my first prenatal appointment is tomorrow afternoon (finally)! I'll be 9 weeks and not sure what to expect in terms of trying to see or hear a heartbeat since it's my first visit. But any reassurance will be welcome. I haven't peed on anything in weeks! Lol.

I had my early glucose tolerance test today and I'm waiting for the results!

@Mrs. J: its always best to listen to your midwife! She is in change for a reason. She will come up with a plan for you. Fingers still crossed it clears up before August!

@autumnlove: fingers crossed for good results!

@krispi: what a cute little gummy bear!

@buttermilk: can't wait for your update!

@autumnlove: Hope you pass the test! They're testing me at my next appointment I think. Is it bad that I'm pretty much assuming I have it again, but not really following the diet until they tell me? Haha almost nothing sounds good except carbs, so there's that.

@krispi: Cute little bean!! Glad it went well!

@lilteacherbee: I'm doing that too! I just figure I'll never stick to the diet unless I know for sure I have it, so I might as well enjoy what are probably my last few days of freedom!.

I got to hear the baby's heartbeat this morning! Long story short, I have access to fetal dopplers and ultrasound at my work and I had a doppler in the office this morning so I tried and there it was 171 bpm! I could hear my placenta on the left too, so according to Ramzi theory that leans girl but I still think it's another boy.

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@getjazzy: That's so exciting! I'm hoping we hear it next week at our appt. I will be a day shy of 11 weeks.

Omg y'all, this morning was awful. DS woke up at 4, I got him back to sleep but I still had to get up early because of the snow, so I felt terrible. This is embarrassing, but I know you'll get it--I peed my pants from the force while heaving/gagging/throwing up in the bathroom, so I had to change my work clothes! I think I'm feeling worse this week instead of better. 10 weeks tomorrow--where's my relief?

  23. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@Mrs. J: ugh, I'm sorry! Hope you get some relief soon.

At the lab for the blood draw for my screening. Just finished up with talking to the genetics counselor. Turns out, the lab is getting rid of the $25 cap on the screening TOMORROW. So glad I'm getting in under the wire! I'm not technically high risk, despite my history (since there's no evidence that any of it was caused by genetic problems), so insurance wouldn't have covered it. But we're good, so we'll know the sex in 8-10 days, and hopefully have some peace of mind that all is well!

I failed the one hour tolerance in a big way so I have GD for sure. The nurse said there was no need for a 3 hour test and she will set me up with a GD counselor. Kinda bummed because my levels were normal at my physical earlier this year but I guess pregnancy changes things!

    @getjazzy: That is awesome!
@Mrs. J: Hugs, hope your day improves!

    @Torchwood: 8-10 days, so exciting!

Hi ladies - looks like I'm joining you on the August board! I might be pushed back into September once I have the dating ultrasound, but the online calculator says August 28th, so that's what I'm going with for now

EDD: August 28, but subject to change
    First child: Yes!
First doctor appointment: Dating ultrasound on Jan 14, in-take appt on Jan 15
Any symptoms so far: sore breasts, nausea, puking, etc.
Who have you told: Just DH and my BFF (and HB, of course)

How are you guys hiding your nausea at work? I'm having such a hard time trying to keep up with this facade of being just fine!

  29. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@Mrs. J: Ugh, J and N must've been planning that because he was up at 4am, too. I'm draggggging today. Hope you start feeling better!

@Torchwood: So exciting!!! My blood draw is 2 weeks from today and I can't wait! Looks like you'll be the first August mama to know or ! Do you have a preference either way?

  30. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@raspberries: Welcome and congrats!! I have to continuously munch on snacks at work to keep my nausea away. It's definitely gotten better now that I'm at 9.5 weeks. It was the worst at 6-8 weeks.

  31. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@lilteacherbee: Not really? DH and I both think it's a boy, but I think that's a knee jerk reaction to having lost a girl. And I've always wanted a girl, so that'd be nice, but it would also be nice for this pregnancy to be as different as possible from the last. So... I'll be happy either way, but for different reasons?

  32. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@raspberries: welcome and congrats! I am having a hard time hiding it, but I have a stash of lemon jolly ranchers and snacks to help. My nausea seems to be getting worse, and I am ten weeks tomorrow, so I don't know what to do.

@lilteacherbee: @Mrs. J: Thanks, ladies. I don't think it'd be so hard if I didn't have to walk past the receptionist and make small talk with her on my way to the bathroom - I feel like she must have noticed how many times I've been going by now. Maybe it's time to start hiding some of those peanut butter filled pretzels in my desk.

And jolly ranchers! I forgot about those, but that's such a good idea!

I feel so sick and tired and I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired. DS is teething... again...one of two broke threw last night and he pretty much non stop (almost) dry nursed the whole night. I did not sleep at all. And I love DS so much and I love that he's such an active baby but... whenever I bend over: I throw up, when I lift something/DS: I throw up... I tried to clean the bathroom... guess what: I threw up because I can't stand the smell of cleaning agents.... I'm taking the max dosage of whatever is available in my country (about 7 different things) the only other option I have is the hospital. My ob would give me IV fluids, but they wouldn't contain anything else then I'm already taking.... ugh. I don't know how I did this the last time. This time I “only” lost 5lbs (last time I had lost 25 by 9 weeks and LO was starting to measure behind....)
