I'm not pregnant but when I talked to my ob/gyn about exercise while pregnant I mentioned spin. She just said to be careful with bikes because balance may be off. Other than that she had no qualms about it.

I had heard that you should avoid it after the baby is no longer protected by your pelvis (like, basically once you are showing). But I never actually asked my midwife about it. It sounds very uncomfortable though, to be honest, but I can't remember what it would have been like at 24 weeks.

DH won't let me, but I do have a bad record of bike accidents...

I would do it as long as it felt ok. I have a girlfriend who biked, while in labor, to the birth center to deliver her daughter. I'm not that hardcore, but I'll keep doing it next pregnancy as long as it feels fine.

I got on an exercise bike for a few minutes one day early 3rd trimester waiting for DH to finish up at the gym. It felt really wrong. But everyone carries differently.

I think as long as you're comfortable, it should be okay. It would not be a good idea for me because I'm a terrible bike rider.

With my 1st, I rode my bike (daily bike commute in NYC) until about 24 weeks. I still felt very comfortable, but I was afraid of a potential accident since the streets are crazy. I did a few little neighborhood rides, but probably only until about 6 months.

Now with #2 on the way (18w) I still bike, but not as often since I don't need to commute everyday. But we now live in an amazingly bike friendly city with bike lanes everywhere, so we'll see how long I can make it. I did recently speak to a woman who was still biking at 36 weeks, with her toddler in the baby seat!

Nay unless you were a very frequent bike rider before. My doctor told me to stay on my exercise bike but not get on an outdoor bike just as a precaution

I skipped it because I was worried about falling and even when I'm not pregnant it always hurts my butt!

My OB advised against riding anything that you had to climb onto (bike, horse, motorcycle) since your center of balance changes.

I rode up until 40 weeks! I had a cruiser too, so it wasn't like I was doing anything intense. It felt great and as long as your balance is fine, you should be good. Just be more cautious
