@FaithFertility: I'm sorry the nap wasn't longer
Yay for carrots though! Sounds like she's a champ with solids!

Tried some dairy this weekend (sort of inadvertently - a salad had some butter in it and a soup had yogurt and I had no idea. So then I said whatever and had chocolate. I had previously had a little in baked goods over the past week). Fail. Ryan had colossal fountain spit ups today. Like when he was 2m old. It's never gotten much better but today was absolutely buckets. Sigh. Off dairy again. I hope tomorrow is better because he literally spit up half his bed time bottle and he never spits up from the bottle. On that note my husband thinks I should just switch to bottles anyways. Now I'm suddenly feeling attached to BF though.

@winniebee: *sigh* I'm so bummed for you When you say bottles are you thinking of formula or EP?
If it's any consolation, J's spit up has never improved. I'm still drenched every single day. Mrs. Stroller's blog post this week made me worry that he's probably intolerant to something I haven't even thought of.

@winniebee: bummer! I'm so sorry.
We seem to be seeing some improvement (maybe?) in spit up with our medicine. For whatever reason we see the most spit up after her first bottle of the day. And it seems really mucousy. She always seem to wake congested.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: @MamaG: we still get drenched but it's usually smaller amounts multiple times after each feeding. He literally was barfing everything up yesterday :(. We do need a new dosage to Zantac if we are going to stay on it. I was hoping we could wean and basically if he stays happy in not going to up the dose at this point.
@MrsF: oh I know! I'm sure there's a bunch Ryan reacts to but mamas gotta eat. I'm pretty sure he reacts to most beans. My husband is suggesting formula since most benefits to bf are in the first 6m. I definitely would not EP. No time! But I'm sticking with Bf a while longer. I will probably clean up my diet and then try something overt in a month or two.

@winniebee: gahhh I'm sorry his spit up is not being better, I think it is good that you keep trying to introduce dairy back!
Stinky about the diet, but I'm sure your used to it!!!
@MrsF: @MamaG: I'm sorry about the spit up for you gals too! No bueno!!!!

This little bugger has faught naps for 2 days like a bear
We went pool hopping yesterday My mom's for a bit then MIL she had 1 30min nap from like 2-6
Because I strolled her around the block
But..... that resulted in 11.5 hrs straight last night
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: If/when you go formula route what formula do you use?
My friends babe has awful spit up and was looking for a formula @MamaG: @MrsF: ????

@faithfertility: 11.5hrs straight? that's awesome! we have a nap fighter over here lately too. Wonder Week 26 is when they start figuring out distance and often leads to the initial stages of separation anxiety -- E was 26 weeks on Saturday, and like clockwork started fussing at most of her naps Friday afternoon! She'd be fine if I was in the room (and clearly exhausted), but hollered as soon as I turned to walk away. Like @winniebee: I just let her fuss for 5-10 minutes (not usually all-out screaming, just protests) when I know she is dry/fed, and she has put herself to sleep.
@winnibee: nice impulsive plan on the showering while R put himself down it is nice to not have to listen to it, especially when you know it won't last too long! and bummer on the dairy!! i'd definitely consider doing some/all formula if i were you, but that's because i'm not sure i could survive on a restricted diet like you have been doing. major props! isn't it funny how bf can seem like such a chore, but you then get sentimental over weaning? i bf K for 13 months, including pumping at work. despite staying home with E (and so it being easier, in theory), i think about weaning her a LOT more. but then worry i'd miss our snuggles...and what if we don't have a third?
@banddmommy: D is seriously adorable.
i've pretty much just started giving E whatever food we are eating. she had had egg, so she had (and LOVED) french toast -- no syrup! -- this weekend. it was the perfect texture to grab and soggy but firm enough to gum on, i think! i also gave her a chunk of short rib to suck on at dinner on sunday, and she cried when i had to take it away to go home
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: That might be it, she is insane these days with naps she will be so tired she rubs her eye red!
I have left her too but she just will not fall asleep
Ughhh this too shall pass!!!!
Yes, down at 7:30 woke at 7....I was shoked!!!!!
pear / 1961 posts
@faithfertility: well, i think i'd go for some crappy naps if it meant sleeping thru the night! you'll just have to take lots of stroller walks you've got one stubborn little girl on your hands between naps & bottles! haha
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: Ha, short rib! DH let K gum a ribeye bone this weekend. I was not in the room, I'm not sure I would have supported the idea. But he and my sister claim she cried when he took it away. I'm too uptight to do BLW, we are still on single purees, but I was looking at doing some combos this weekend. She needs some pears/prunes but a whole container is TOO much!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: I hadn't read Mrs Stroller's post previously but went and read it now. Very enlightening. Thanks for mentioning it so I could be more aware.
pomelo / 5298 posts
Our latest struggle - burps. She just doesn't want to do it. Then I get frustrated, give up, walk away - and spit up happens. Ugh! Spit up! I'm over it. The good news is the long weekend was mostly pleasant and we got a lot of giggles out of the lip biting kid. I really thought that tooth would have come through already (although, I didn't check for it this morning!).
pear / 1961 posts
@mamag: E kinda made the choice for us -- she has almost zero interest in anything from a spoon. i'd probably do more purees if she would take it because she is a big gagger. i don't remember K gagging nearly as much, although I'm probably just forgetting and/or she got a lot of solids at daycare when I wasn't around.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: ughhh teeth, can you see a bud? G has the same white little lump since her 4 month check up.....
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: glad that spit up has improved in your house! What medication is she on?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: yeah - I can't imagine EPing, particularly with a toddler in the mix. I really kind of love nursing him too ( something I absolutely never thought I would say). What would you put him on if you switched?
@FaithFertility: amazing night!
@FaithFertility: have fun at the fountain park! Our old house had a great splash pad nearby. I really miss it!
@KayKay: glad solids are going well! BLW is kind of hilarious. J spent all of dinner yesterday "eating" a huge chunk of romaine lettuce.
@MamaG: yeah - mrs stroller is hardcore! I'm not sure I could restrict my diet that much...
pomelo / 5660 posts
@KayKay: thanks :). I'm the same way with solids. I just give her whatever.
I don't know how you guys limit your diet. I am weak, I could not handle not eating dairy.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@FaithFertility: fun! We are heading to splash pad once D wakes up from her nap.
pear / 1961 posts
I'm so jealous of you guys getting to do fun things outside! May weather in Colorado is notoriously crappy -- I wish we would've planned a fun vacation or something. Most days are cool-ish with sporadic rain/hail/graupel so you can't really count on doing anything outside. But it looks like it might finally break next weekend.
DH is going to a conference later this week, so I get to solo parent Weds til Saturday. I'm out of practice!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: I'm jealous of the weather too. I'm in Texas with a pool in my backyard, we should have been in it already. But rain, rain, rain! When this monsoon season decides to move along we will all be whining about the ridiculous heat. I suspect we are going to move from mild and raining to on fire hot. All my family/friends from Wisconsin were posting swimming and boating pictures all weekend. Hello! I'm in the South, I'm supposed to be doing those things. At least C got to go puddle (mud) jumping this weekend. She had a blast.
eggplant / 11861 posts
Of course the drive to splash park knocked her out.....lol we are just chatting in the car....lol

@MamaG: same. we're in arkansas and i'm sick of this rain! i like the heat

I'm so behind! Time to respond in reverse order!
@FaithFertility: Oh my gosh, sooooo adorable!! Glad she loved it! I really need to bring my boys to a splash pad sometime!
@KayKay: We haven't done a ton of outside stuff besides go for walks. This week the weather is warm though, so we'll probably get to do fun outdoor stuff soon!
@MamaG: So annoying about the refusing to burp and then spitting up.
@FaithFertility: 11.5 hours at night!! AWESOME! Probably a fluke though?
@winniebee: Ugh, so sorry you still can't have dairy. You are AMAZING for restricting your diet in order to continue breastfeeding. I'm in awe of you and other moms who do that!
@BandDmommy: With regards to baby-proofing, we've only done what we did for Xander (so cabinet locks, gates on the stairs, fragile items out of the way, etc. But Xander's toys are all over the place. We're just cautious with Logan. Most of Xander's stuff is in his room or the office, so that helps too. His toys that are in the living room are his Megabloks and some hardwood toys and stuffed animals that I feel safe having Logan "play" with. Also love that pic of B with his little bowtie!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not, but Logan finally took some good naps this weekend. Both Sunday and Monday, he took 3 longer naps. I'm hoping this is the transition to three solid naps instead of the 4-5 catnaps he was taking! Night sleep continues to be good, although I often have to nurse him to sleep for the night (although last night I didn't, success!!). He usually has his last feed of the night between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m., and then eats again around 5:30 a.m., so I'm very lucky in the sleep department. He's 6 months on Friday, so we'll be starting solids then I think! Planning on doing rice cereal just like I did last time and that way I can get daycare to do it.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: He is doing great! I am totally behind too since work is kicking my butt!
@FaithFertility: Great sleep!!
@winniebee: I am so sorry
I was gonna wait till 6 mo but she hits all the ready signs/milestones so we started last week with carrots and then apple. She loved both! She will only self feed, so we have been using a silicone feeder and she is sooo happy! And DH really enjoys making the good for her (now he says I can't say I'm her only food source lol).
I am get everyone seems to be getting great sleep! Her naps weren't that great this weekend since schedule was all over the place. I did have her first successful nap in the ergo! I should've tried sooner!
She still wakes twice but I am already thankful that she isn't waking up and staying up haha so I'll just let her be.

Way behind as well after the 3 day weekend!
Sorry to all those with rainy days! We had rain all day Sunday but got two nice days this weekend.
@FaithFertility: So cute! We have nothing like this nearby but I'm sure E would love it! I need to invest in some swim diapers soon!
@Adira: Yay for good naps and night sleep! Do whatever works, nursing to sleep or not!
Still having issues with E taking bottles. He's done 1 to 1-1/2 bottles (5-8 oz) at his 8 hours of daycare all last week. I've been nursing at 7 (normally I would pump) and then I nurse as soon as he gets home and can't do any CIO at night since I'm afraid he's hungry! So far I'm the only one thats gotten him to take a whole bottle and I had to hold him as if I was nursing... I suggested that to my daycare lady today, so fingers crossed it works, but kinda doubt it.
Otherwise I wonder if he's just doing his longer stretches during the day instead of at night like he should be? So instead of the 5+ hours between bottles at night, he does it during the day and I only get 3 hrs max stretches at night. How do I switch that back if he won't take a whole bottle. Ugh.
I told daycare to give him cereal at lunch so at least he gets something; hopefully this is just a phase.
6 months old today!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: @MrsF: I would probably put him on nutramigen since I know it helps with reflux as well as dairy intolerance. But what I will probably do is really test it put with a piece of pizza or something first. He's been with my mom today and we are back to normal spit up!
I've gotten pretty used to the no dairy but I want to eat whatever the hell I want on my 35th bday in 2 mos!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: What requirement does D's swim class has regarding swim diaper? I finally signed K up for swim class and the girl said to put a normal diaper INSIDE the swim diaper.. But wouldn't it still get wet and blow up?! I don't want to call back to ask and sound dumb lol!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: How about you pump pump pump and then just skip that one (or two) nursing sessions?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: It could be a phase... K has been eating well and then not off and off for the last few weeks too. The weird sleeping sure is weird though! So he's taking 5 hr naps?!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: I'm sure it was due to her crap naps... but maybe not...lol
I nurse G to bed nightly it just works......
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: oh no, his sleeping his normal. He does 5+ hours between bottles during the day when he should be doing that at night and letting me sleep!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: Ohhh he would love it I am sure! We splash in the sink at home...lol
Sory about the bottle.....and his eating maybe he is full enough? G seems to go 4+ if she got in a good session
