@Adira: I thought about that too, but I did some reading and didn't think that my motor would go out this fast, esp I wasn't even an avid pumper before I went back to work! I am def not going to try to get my supply back up.. I always had to fight for my supply and after 6 mo I told myself I won't stress out about it anymore, esp since K still doesn't STTN so I just don't have the energy! I've supplemented her since like 6.5-7 mo so I'll probably just keep pumping away even if it's for 1 bottle It's just annoying b/c it's the same amount of work whether it's 1 or 4 bottles!

@snowjewelz: Yeah, I hear you. I commend you for sticking with it when you're not getting much from it! Just view pumping time as a nice little break from work where you can play on your phone or read a book or whatever. Try not to let it get you down.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: It's true, I have a computer in there so I could keep working when it's busy, but if I don't have to, I just catch up on FB and IG

@snowjewelz: Yeah, I can't work in my pumping room, so I bring in a book and read. It's a nice little break in my day.

So M has been so fussy these last few days. I think it's a combination of milestones & teething (still won't pop through!!). He's gotten to where he wants to crawl or walk (with our help, of course) 24/7. In the mornings when DH goes to take a shower, M crawls in to find him & we have to sit there while he showers. LOL

@AngelicOne: Aww, hopefully those teeth pop through soon!
E is all over the place too, he's crawling down the hallway now so we have to shut the doors so he can't get into any trouble. When DH is in the shower/bathroom E will sit outside the door and wait for him, so cute. They play peek-a-boo now.

@snowjewelz: How long are you planning on breastfeeding? I'm hoping to quit pumping before a year I think, but luckily I have a lot of milk stored; but I want to keep bf'ing till a year, so not sure how that will work either.
Props to you for sticking with it! That does have to be sooo hard to stay motivated to do it!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: directly feeding her? For as long as she wants, or as long as I don't dry up.. But pumping wise, I really can't see myself going past a year, if I'm still getting something then! So I really just gotta push on for 4 more months... I guess I am motivated b/c the more I can stretch out a can of formula, the better!

J is so interested in solids lately and is definitely nursing less and less. Still 6x/day but I think the quantity is much less. I am suddenly engorged and was leaking everywhere last night, which hasn't happened in many many months. I want my supply to regulate but I'm working the entire long weekend which means I don't see the kids and I'm EPing during that time. Maybe if he takes much less from bottles than I'm pumping I can cut down on the pumping a little the next time I'm working and see how that goes?
honeydew / 7283 posts
Also - those who only nurse one side at a time - do you always alternate sides even if the other side feels much more full?
J only takes one side at a time but he takes much more milk before his naps than after. So by the end of the day things feel super uneven! (which is why I was leaking last night)
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I always alternate - unless for some reason he takes both sides at a feeding. He usually nurses 5-10 mins and then 3 hours later will do the other side. It's rare that one side feels really full now....except last night he slept until 4:15 after a week of getting up (I had my period too) so I woke up pretty engorged.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: you know, pumping is ridiculously hard work and it's completely fine to throw in the towel on that front! I hate pumping and the days when R is with the nanny he gets 1-2 bottles but I only pump once.....so.....my freezer stash will be gone before I know it and I'll just start having her give him formula during the day instead. Only so much you can do!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MrsF: In that case I would probably try and feed both sides, the 'alternate' side for a few minutes, and then try and get him to take the other 'fuller' side. Of course, that doesn't always work since he might decide he's just done when I try and switch him.

@MrsF: I feed both in the a.m./p.m. but start with the one I left off on at night

@AngelicOne: Awe poor babe, but so cute on the DH shower peek a boo....
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: Kudos to you for pumping !!!
I just couldn't see doing it when I went back...lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: I always alternate even tho no side ever feels remotely engorged lol
@winniebee: Thanks! I've been supplementing for a while now.. She seems to do fine so at least I don't have to worry about the formula part!
@FaithFertility: I don't even know how you can pump as a teacher! At least I'm mostly in the office!

@snowjewelz: They would get me coverage for the sessions other than my 45min planning period, but since G was older I said heck I want that time to get stuff done so I am not leaving work at 6 everyday

Ughhhh I feel like an awful mother!
G woke raspy and had a cough but it went away , well fast forward to afternoon nap she woke hot, took temp 100.5 and has this wet cough
Currently sleeping again on me!
Ughhhhh I should have taken her in today, but she was happy as can be all day?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: there's nothing they can or would do for a cold anyways! She will be ok! 100.5 is just the threshold to be considered a fever. Give her some Tylenol and rotate with Advil if needed.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Thanks it was 101 before bed so gave Tylenol and she slept fine, still is raspy and has a cough but no fever yet today!
She is definitely also teething she chews on EVERYTHING and is way more fussy, I rocked her for her nap and she never lets me rock her in the rocking chair.... kind of nice
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: poor baby girl! Extra snuggles today!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Ryan's sleep has been awful the past few nights. Up multiple times. He still doesn't have any teeth. Brother has a cold so maybe that's it?
On another note 9m of exclusively BF is paying off. I am constantly logging out and am a few lbs under pregnancy weight even with ginormous boobs. I'm scared of what will happen when I stop LOL.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: ohhh no I think 90% of G's thing is teeth we were at my moms today from 11-3:30 was having a blast no nap and passed out in car on way home, of she isn't doing anything she then chews and gets fussy!
Hope R is feeling OK!!!
Yay on weight
I haven't been on a scale but pp pants from work are loose.....so that makes me happy!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: I hope G is feeling better! Poor babe
@winniebee: I hope tonight's sleep is better... and ditto on the eating and weight loss - definite perk! (I think the dairy-free diet definitely helped in the beginning for me though). J is starting to slow down his intake though, I better slow mine down too!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: Thanks, she is such a happy girl I can tell teeth are bothering her, but she is happy as can be if entertained

G seems to be have her alarm clock set to 6:30 on the dot! Honestly not bad at all..she went to bed kind of late last night at 8:30 and still with out fail heard "dadada" at exactly 6:30

We quit our reflux meds this weekend and all seems well in the world. K seems to be feeling better as well. Her voice isn't back to normal, but improving.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: ugh BF has not helped with weight loss for me! I don't even eat that much, I carry her/wear her and walk a lot and my weight has been the same for months!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: nice! We've been off for a month. Ryan rarely spits up now and it's soooo nice!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I'm going to try and night wean. Ryan will be 9 mos on Wednesday and he can go all night without eating. He does it sporadically and frankly he eats more than my 3 year old. The past 3 nights he has woken 3x a night. Once I can stomach. Twice is not cool. Three times is bull shit. He's not visibly sick and even if he's getting teeth....we have 18 more months of teething. He usually does not cry before bed and tonight he randomly cried for 20 mins. I did go in and shhh him finally but he went to sleep on his own.
Every time I threaten to sleep train he sttn....
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: oh yeah 6:30 is the latest Ryan will ever sleep. He almost always wakes at 515 and sometimes goes to sleep for another hour.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: Good luck! I don't know how you ladies that are still feeding in the night are surviving. I couldn't do it!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Best of luck 3x is hard
I am sure he will do just fine!!!
I still nurse G to sleep many nights , I just can't stop
eggplant / 11861 posts
Gahhjh last night was a mess took almost 30mins to get her to go to bed, and she woke from 3-4 and just couldn't go back down!
Definitely a combo of new milestones/teething
She now sits up and stands in crib so I think it is harder for her to figure out how to wind back down!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Haha. Sigh, I don't want to sleep train but K's sleep has been so bad lately. She doesn't even nurse back to sleep most of the time! I keep saying I need to make a change, but I can never do it!
@FaithFertility: I feel like all the babies are a mess lately! Between teething and milestones (and I think there is a 9 mo regression?!), I don't even know what's going on anymore!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Haha I have to post this on FB/IG later, but K started say "baby", haha! I have no idea whether she just strings two sounds together and it literally just sounds like baby, or b/c we say baby all the time so she's copying us... She won't stop saying it, it's so funny! And she makes sooo many other weird sounds too, like she's really talking!
And she always chuckles like an old man, esp when other people are having an actual conversations. All our friends notice it too and think it's so funny and now they call her old man Kara!
She said "daddy" this weekend too, but not enough times to know if she really knows what she's saying. I had been trying hard to get her to say "daddy" since now everything is "mama"... "mama!!" "maaamaaa!" whenever she wants me (which is pretty much all the time)
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: Bummer! New milestones are hard. K was up last night as well for awhile. I let her play in her crib until she's decided it's time to sleep and no one is coming to get her. When she's just babbling it is easier to ignore her than when she's crying.
