@MrsF: I meant to respond yesterday! Yes, I feel like by trying to meet moms in many different ways that I'm bound to find a good friend or two in the process! I'm meeting another new mom tomorrow for a walk and lunch!
So sorry for all dealing with crappy weather...it's been so nice in San Diego so I'm out with N and our dogs every day. You're all free to visit!
And those who have baby fever amaze me...I love my baby more than anything, but I am sincerely glad we're almost out of the "4th trimester." I know I want another some day and have thought about how it will be with a second baby, but N's been incredibly fussy as a newborn and now that his personality is coming out and he's sleeping better, I am enjoying him so much more! I did really have a great pregnancy, though, so I won't be sad to be pregnant again someday!

Kara for a change has been better today. Maybe her 6 week growth spurt is finally over since she will be 8 weeks soon?!
She slept a lot more compared to normal, I got worried! She nursed to sleep and I just put her in the pnp, not swaddle.. Let's see how that goes. I figure worse case if she wakes up I'll just nurse her to sleep again since it's "early". I'm hoping all the hoopla at my SILs made her tired. Also she dissed on the car ride so maybe she tire herself out too...?

I have a question for those who use white noise.. Do you put in on really loud at night to drown our noise?
persimmon / 1050 posts
@Adira: I guess so. We are working on a scream his head off& nothing will console him phase. Think it's gonna be a long night.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: I wouldn't say we have it really loud. We currently aren't using white noise for K, but C still sleeps with hers. But it is loud enough that with C's door closed, she doesn't really hear us.

@snowjewelz: I'd say the Dohm (N's white noise machine) is always the same level-it's pretty constant. The living areas of the house are downstairs, and the bedrooms are upstairs, so that helps. However, we tend to try and be quiet anyways....now that he's actually sleeping in his crib, in his room, we don't want anything to screw that up!

@whenoceansrise: Amen! Sleep has become the most precious luxury in the world to me now that I'm a mom!

Just did 4 in the pnp. Not bad! But then she typically only has 2 hr stretch after. Hope everyone is zz?

@theotherstark: Hope your night is going okay!
@snowjewelz: Our white noise is fairly loud, but not so loud that I'd worry about it hurting anyone's ears.
Despite sleeping all day and being sick, Logan just did a 6 hour stretch and I THINK he's falling back asleep now after nursing. He did wake up a couple times, but shushing put him right back asleep.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Still congested, but I sucked it all out and he nursed fine. His wakeups also didn't seem as bad as last night, so hopefully that means he's feeling better.
pomelo / 5298 posts
I skip the MOTN breathing treatment because I really don't think she needs them any longer. Now just to work on her congestion. I'm hopeful the dr sends her back to daycare. But I'm going to be so tired. Been up since 4:00! She woke coughing and then was unsettled. Fed at about 4:40 and by the time she settled again it was just after 5:00. My alarm goes off at 5:30!

@ChiCalGoBee: a walk and lunch sounds like fun! I went to a little baby play date yesterday at another mom's house with 5 babies and moms. We're planning on getting together every month I'm such an introvert when it comes to new people, but I'm really trying in this department. It's made a huge difference over the past two years to go through this with other people. Then we moved six months ago and have to start over again
And i'm with you on the baby fever! i never even had it this time. My daughter was old enough that we just thought "ok, time to have another baby!". The newborn stage is NOT my favorite. It only gets better!

@snowjewelz: glad k has been less fussy! Apparently 6 weeks is supposed to be the peak of fussiness.
We have a dohm in each kid's room. We use it to drown out noise (especially important with a toddler running around) and as a sleep cue.

@snowjewelz: we had a pretty awesome night actually. A bit surprising since we slept most of the day. But we ate around 7 then went to sleep till around 3, then till around 6. Probably close to our best night yet!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Glad most seem to have good sleep! K did another 4 so we only had 1 MOTN feeding! She did wake up once and I brought her into bed with me but she spent a good 6 hrs in the pnp! And I wasn't sleeping, experimenting with white noise and checking the weather lol.

Hey mamas, I am at my post partum Drs appt. What are you breastfeeeding mamas doing for birth control? The Dr asst said I could only do the mini pill, but I want an IUD....
anyway, The only time I get on HB is when I'm away from my little guy, which isn't often. Hope everything is good with your babies!!! growing up too fast

@magnolia: we decided on condoms it took us 3 yes after bc pills to have G so I'm not doing that again!
persimmon / 1168 posts
@FaithFertility: wow! I had a bad experience with birth control pills so I all about non hormonal options, not that I am ready to have sex yet but we will be using using condom s until I get the IUD. Dr said I can get either hormonal or non hormonal.

@snowjewelz: so jealous! I've been trying to get Micah to sleep anywhere but with me but he isn't having it! Poor DH admitted yesterday that he misses cuddle time with me.

@magnolia: I got the mirena IUD placed at my 6 week appointment. I,ve had it once before and have no complaints!

@magnolia: I got the mini pill but haven't started taking it yet.

@MrsF: Hey did you know Duncan Hines brownies are dairy free? SCORE!!!!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Our sleep is still quite bad. I will get a 3 hour stretch, then lately it's 2 hour....then after that it's 1.5 and then up for an hour or more every night dealing with spit up, then poop, then more spit up, then wide awake. Then get another 1.5 hour stretch before big bro wakes up. He still nurses every 2h during the day and it seems like if he goes longer spit up is even worse. I was doing no dairy before but wasn't "all in" but then I cheated on Friday and spit up went from manageable to colossal. So I'm going to be strict about it for awhile and see if it helps spit up and sleep. I really thought that by 7w (tomorrow) by now we'd be on to better night sleep......
I do use white noise and it's loud. This is the one we have and love it. http://www.amazon.com/myBaby-Soundspa-Lullaby-Machine-Projector/dp/B008KG5R6I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1422297762&sr=8-3&keywords=homedics+soundspa

@winniebee: ooh! Thanks for the tip! I made the ones from MSPI mama and they were... strange
I'm so sorry that sleep is still such a challenge I hope you get some great improvement with the dairy-free diet!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: every baby is so different! K's cousin is 2 weeks older and STTN.. I really don't see that happening! I actually don't mind one MOTN feeding to help with supply!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: you co sleep too right? How does he fall asleep right now? I think pnp works once K is super passed out from side laying nursing. Step 1 is she stops sucking, eyes closed. Then she either unlatch or I pull off. Then I wait another few min to make sure she is passed out. The I just lift her up and put her on the pnp right next to me. This works bc besides the moving part she tech sleeps by herself on our bed so it's not that different? I still gotta keep doing it to see if it sticks tho! Also she came out of a growth spurt so maybe that helped too.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@magnolia: I'm undecided, prob condom, pull out and later on once AF comes back maybe I'll track O to prevent?
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: yeah he nurses himself to sleep then I rock him upright for another 30 minutes because of his reflux. We don't nurse in bed because of the spitting up. He can be totally asleep and if I lay him in his RnP or his crib he wakes up and fusses until I bring him to bed with me. He doesn't really like his PnP so I use that as a changing table in our bedroom
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: Ahh the reflux Do you have a rnp that has an incline? But after he's fallen asleep he's still sleeping on you upright the whole night? Or eventually you can put him lying down on your bed? I think co-sleeping for now is totally fine anyway as long as you can sleep.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: yeah the rnp has an incline and he does sleep either on me or I use my arm to prop up his head when he sleeps next to me. It's just not comfortable for me!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I know.. Thats why I ultimately started trying to put her somewhere. I thought it's easier to cosleep and it kinda is, but I try not to move, then my arm falls asleep, I can't sleep cause I'm in an awkward position ,etc... I'd say keep trying! I often try something and give up when it doesn't work the first few times but I think sometimes they're changing too and you never know what a week or a few days might do!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Wow K had been sleeping allllll daaaayyyy.. I guess after the fussiness comes the sleeping part of the growth spurt. Not complaining! Since she loves sleeping so much today I put her in her pnp tonight and used our monitor for the first time. I hope she will still sleep tonight even tho she already slept for like 10 hrs total!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: same! I think he's been awake 3 of the last 12 hrs
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@magnolia: I'm on the mini pill until I decide between Mirena and Paragard.
@winniebee: Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear about your crappy sleep situation. I really hope he starts doing longer stretches for you soon. Your nights sound brutal.
