@littlek: @whenoceansrise: @MamaG: Sounds good. Unless anyone else chimes in with super strong objections, I will remove the appts.
@MamaG: Ahh, it must be nice to have that official "end" date! So crazy how quickly it's coming up.
@littlek: I know, I gave a little sigh of relief when I hit the 24 week "viability" milestone, but then I told baby boy that he better stay in there to cook for longer yet! Ha. I hope you make it to the end of November. Does your dr. have any specific thoughts? Does he/she think the progesterone will help?
ETA: I'm an idiot and just realized you had already answered that. Ha. Sorry. Can I blame pregnancy brain?? So glad your OB seems to think you'll make it to full term!!!

Awe thanks ladies I need to blog about it one of these days too ha ha!

@littlek: congrats on the big 24 weeks! I look forward to that sign of relief my fingers are crossed for full term for you!

@winniebee: I ate so many Tums last pregnancy - it helped to get the smoothie kind that dissolves quick. I can kind of feel the heartburn after dinner but I just drink a ton of water before bed and it's gone. I will probably be stocking up on Tums soon enough though

@littlek: that's great your OB is projecting that you'll make it full term!

Heartburn is such a funny little thing. I had it from the onset of pregnancy last time and it was horrible. Virtually zero this time around. I had a little last night, but wasn't shocked when I remembered we had spagetti (tomatoes are a trigger for me). As a result, I'm convinced this baby is going to be bald
I also had a really dominant linea nigra last pregnancy and nothing this time.

@MamaG: I had a dark line too and so far nothing this pregnancy! And this baby's heart rate is so much lower than my LO (160/170 versus 140)...I was so convinced this baby was going to be a boy...but nope it's another girl

@littlek: my guess is that progesterone will get you to term too!

I had my first series of appts today at my new OB in maine. The practice is awesome!! Totally organized and state of the art with en suite level 2 ultrasounds. And an LC on staff to help with breastfeeding pre and post birth. My doc seems great. She seems very knowledgable but also more laid back than my last OB. Today I had an orientation then cervical length check via internal ultrasound -- cervix is still nice and long and my low lying placenta has already resolved. Then appt with my OB. She seems to think I will avoid preterm labor this time but is going to do cervical length checks via ultrasound in 2 weeks and then again in 4 weeks. She's also not a fan of bed rest (just modified rest) so if I get to that point it's nice to know I won't be completely restricted. Also because my son was small for gestational age (5 lbs 5 oz) she's going to do another growth scan at 32 weeks. And because the ultrasounds and monitoring can be done in office I don't have any need to go to a. Perinatologist/MFM. I've gained 3 lbs in 2 weeks thanks to my mother in laws cooking. I'm up 10 lbs total and it looks like I will probably gain 30 lbs again which is ok.
All of that is to say that I now basically have appts every 2 weeks so I'm not going to list them out

@winniebee: Sorry you have to deal with the heartburn too! I've started carrying Tums in my purse just in case!
So glad you had an awesome appointment with your new practice!! Yay!!
@theotherstark: Now that we're past most of the fun anatomy scan appointments, I'm okay with you getting rid of the list!
@MamaG: Yay for a scheduled c-section!! And yes! Stay with us even though you'll technically be a November Mama! Xander was born in February, but I stuck around in the March group (my due date group) because I knew those ladies. And now we just have a Spring 2013 group (even though February's not really Spring either...), so I bet this will eventually just be a Winter group or something.
@littlek: Congrats on viability! But yeah, despite the baby now being official viable, it's still nerve-wracking because you really DON'T want them to come this early!!! Fingers crossed you make it a good long time before baby shows up!

Had my appointment today. The midwife didn't say anything about my ridiculous weight gain, so yay! I have the glucose test scheduled for September 19th. I'm really nervous though because last time I was pregnant, they did a 2 hour glucose test, which was easy to pass. This time they are just doing a 1 hour test. I hope I pass it because otherwise I'll have to do the 3 hour one!
I've also been so productive today. Donated all our old computer equipment to Goodwill this morning. Got supplies to drain our old lawnmower of oil/gas so we can bring it to the dump. Cleared out a bunch of boxes/trash from the garage (so now I can actually open BOTH back seat doors for when I have two babies to put in there). Moved a bunch of stuff out of the guest room (Xander's new room soon) into the basement. Moved the ladder into the guest room in prep for painting. I'm getting really excited!!

@Adira: You want to come do my house next? We seriously need to rid ourselves of everything that recently was moved/accumulated in our guest room. I keep telling DH that I really don't care where the stuff goes, I just want it out of my house.
A basement would be a perfect solution for all of this stuff. Alas, no such thing here!

I made my short list of things we need/want today. I've officially resolved myself to not buying any clothes. I know my mom and sister will buy them (even if I ask they don't), so I'll just let them handle it.
I will let them get all things fabric (0-3m clothes, burp cloths, bibs, sheets, swaddles, wash cloths). I'm sure it will be more fun for them than the things like diaper genie and car seat adapter for our stroller.
Anyone care to share their favorite swing? I'm leaning toward snugapuppy but am open to suggestions. C had the 4moms momaroo and hated it. We sold it as quickly as we could.

@Adira: nice!!
@MamaG: definitely stick around
I went shopping today. Bought few hair clips. Going back tomorrow to boutique to find coming home outfit and Christmas outfits for B & D. I'll probably get some more bows as well.

@MamaG: we have the snugabunny swing and I liked it. My LO slept it in great early on but quickly moved to all naps in her crib so we didn't use it a ton. But I would set her in there for parts of her awake time and she was happy to watch the little mobile. It does have kind of a large footprint but I think a lot of swings do.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: I think I'm only being this productive because Hubs said we needed to do some serious cleaning before we bothered with painting Xander's new room and I REALLY want to paint the room, haha!! You should look into donating stuff to Goodwill! It was so easy to donate there - I just drove up to their donation drive through and someone wheeled a cart out to my car and I just transferred from my car to the cart and left. It was awesome!
We have the snugabunny swing. We only have it because my SIL handed it down to us - I'm not sure I would've spent the money on it myself. That being said, it was a LIFESAVER in the beginning! Xander did his LONGEST stretches in the swing and it was the only way I was able to get some sleep (we'd put Xander in the swing and I'd go to sleep while Hubs stayed up with him and then he'd come get me when he needed to nurse). But he probably only really used it for 2-3 months. I think we stopped using it by 3 months (though that could be because we got lucky and Xander started sleeping longer stretches by 10 weeks and I didn't feel we needed it anymore).
Oh, also what @sandy: said was true for us too. We could often put Xander in the swing and even if he didn't sleep, he was content to just hang in there, watch the mobile, or look around while it would swing back and forth. It truly was awesome! Just not sure I would've personally spent the money on it since we only used it for such a short period of time!

@MamaG: my son lived in his snugabunny swing for 4 months. Love that thing!

@littlek: they aren't done in the northeast and second time showers usually aren't either so we won't be doing anything.

I normally just wind up reading this thread, and pretty much never post my own updates, but I figured it's about time. So I just wanted to add to the updates that we're officially team green!

Hi ladies, hope you have had a ice weekend. We are still sorting out our house so we can put it up for sale next week. Been a productive but boring weekend. I have also become a little obsessed with cloth nappies. I now have about 20 with more on the way. I know I need a lot but I have had to hide them from oh as he will kill me! It's addictive though I swear!
I'm really suffering for leg cramps. I keep waking in the night with excruciating pain and having to jump out of bed to walk it off. It's very annoying. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow which is exciting.
Anyone bought anything exciting recently. I still have not bought anything baby related except cloth diapers! Need to get on that!
persimmon / 1050 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: Lol at least baby girl will lots of cute diapers to wear.
Haven't bought anything exciting recently, but we did start working on a baby registry yesterday. We had to give up (got tired from running errands all day) and we have a few thing to research before we add them to the list.

@Mrs.Lilac: boooo to leg cramps....I noticed me feet ate a little swollen today I think its Florida heat and well being preggo, but I'm def going to baby myself since I'm back to work tomorrow and on my feet all day (teacher)
