We told immediately family upon finding out & they were all respectful of NOT sharing, we then made a full announced it at 9 weeks! This was my 2nd pregnancy and I definitely started showing earlier so 9 weeks was about as long as I could get away with hiding it since we see our friends weekly at church! Also, I knew that IF I did miscarry I would want the support of our church family & close friends..... I'm very open with those close to me so "knowing" something like that that they didn't would've been hard for me.

Yes, we told work at like 9 weeks on purpose (which went great!), and facebook at about 10 weeks due to a blabby-mouthed BIL of mine. We had planned to announce publicly on Xmas eve, which would have been 12 weeks, but my lovely BIL thought he'd do it for us >.<

p.s. I'm doing the same week-ish thing as you, lol. I'm over 13 weeks, but the baby measured where I'm *just* 13 weeks. it's weird!

We told people in stages....told close family friends right away (4 weeks) and then between 4 and 12 weeks we told more people as we saw them. At 12 weeks, we went officially "public" on social media.

Just close friends and Familiy right away. Announced to everyone after 12 weeks.

We've told family and they've kind of leaked it to other family members, but surprisingly, none of the other family members have "confronted" us to get confirmation. We've told my BFF and another friend with whom we were traveling with. I declined coffee and wine while on the trip, and the guy of the couple immediately picked up on the clues 2 days into our trip. haha!

We don't plan on publicly announcing it until after our second pre-natal appointment which is in 2 weeks. I'll be 11 weeks then so by week 12 we'll announce.

Yep. Our first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, and very few of our friends knew I was pregnant until a while later. We decided that it would have been worth it to have the support of our friends and family should that happen again. And we figure that every baby should be celebrated, no matter how long they are with us :). So we announced pretty much right away when I was pregnant with LO.

we told our immediate family at 4-5 weeks, and then posted an announcement for friends and extended family on facebook at 8.5 weeks after our dating scan where we heard the heartbeat. our baby was our baby whether we lost her or not, so we wanted everyone to know! we were so proud, and couldn't hold it in.

Absolutely everybody knew by 6-7 weeks. I understand the thought of not telling people because of mc risks, but we talked that over, and decided that the people we wanted to know were the same people who would support us during a miscarriage. Actually, our first pregnancy ended in a mc, and it was great having support from everybody (because they all knew about that one too).

I didn't find out until 10 weeks. Told mom and two close friends the day we found out and then nearly lost the baby two days later. We waited up until I was 13 weeks and especially since I was very visibly showing. There is no safe time...agreed. In man ways I'm glad we waited so people didn't know what I went through, but in some ways I wish more knew so Id had more support.

We told immediate family at about 6 weeks but asked them not to tell anyone. I told my best friend as soon as I found out, as we were both TTC. We told a few other close friends before 12 weeks. At 12 weeks we told a larger group of friends, and allowed our family members to tell people.

I let the "world" know at 20 weeks via Facebook.

Early on, we only told people that we would go to for support if I miscarried. We also wanted to get through the NT scan, as there are some abnormalities (like genetic mutations that result in near immediate death after being born) that we would have terminated the pregnancy for. Waited to announce on Facebook until after the anatomy scan so that we could be sure everything was healthy and developing normally.

Told my mom at 11 weeks and MIL at 13 weeks and didnt make any other public announcement. everyone else just kinda found out if they bumped into me

told immediate fams right away. extended fam and close friends around 9 weeks. i would have waited but it was christmas and a good opportunity. told work around 12 weeks since I needed to leave early. went fully public at 16 weeks when we found out the genders. i was terrified each time, but it all worked out fine.

No. We didn't tell immediate family until LO's heartbeat was confirmed at my first OB appt (at 8 weeks). We didn't tell another soul until 12 weeks.

@highwire: we seem to be telling people in a similar fashion.

DH has told more people than I have. I've told my 3 closest girlfriends + 1 other girlfriend and DH has told almost ALL his friends. We went out with the a few nights ago and one of them was in town (he lives in Hungary) and DH doesn't get to see him for years at a time. He ended up telling them all. I couldn't stop him, he was just so excited.

All our family knew pretty early on.

I told my family right away, partially because I was there for Thanksgiving and had a really good chance of having a miscarriage. I didn't want to try and hide what was going on. I did end up miscarrying that weekend and I was glad I had let my parents know what was going on.

My philosophy is that I'm fine with telling anyone that I would also tell about a MC. And I'm fine with my mom telling certain close members of the family (my brother, aunt and grandma) but if there's a loss, she has to tell them about that too.

We waited. And I'm so glad I did. I found out at my 12 week apt that I had a missed miscarriage. I didn't want to talk to anyone about it, including the little bit of family that did know, and I was so so glad that nobody else knew so I could just sit and grieve by myself.

Obviously we didn't tell anybody when I got pregnant again except family. I didn't even want to tell people at 12 weeks.... but I knew I'd have to tell people eventually so I just did it.

I'm in the wait til later camp.....seems like minority! We didn't tell parents until 13w, everyone else 18-19w.

Will see how showing with #2 goes when we try for another LO.

Not just for safe purposes, but in my opinion when people tell early (or how I would feel if I told early) would be that I seem pregnant for so long. I think the secret time with just DH and I was fun (though, we had two big scares, and this was following a loss.....so not all fun!) so there was some not fun time, but I like the wait from others and the bigger shock value versus shakier early times.

But to each their own, I just didn't want to talk about it forever!

I told my sister a couple days after I found out. Then I saw my mom on her birthday when I was about 6-7 weeks and told her and my family that was there. My dad started texting neighbors so lots of people knew then. Several people at my husband's job had decided I was pregnant bc someone had dreamed it and then they all decided I looked different so we told them at 9 weeks after we had an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat and then I called a few more friends. I don't use fb that often but I put something on there at 20 weeks once we found out we were having a girl.

@autumnlove: me too! Next time I'll wait until atleast 12 weeks, It will be hard to keep my husbands trap shut though
