I started drinking it last night and figured it couldn't hurt. I can't tell if it's really doing anything or if it's just my mind... But it feels like I'm getting stronger Braxton-Hicks. It's not exactly what I had in mind haha
Did it work for you?

Maybe? I didn't use it heavily - one or two cups most days starting at some point in the third trimester. Labor was quick and easy - came out after a few pushes and she was born 4 hours after I realized that I was actually in labor (born 7 hours after I first started feeling off).

Maybe? I had 17 hours of painful labor but got her out in one push for delivery!

I mean, there is no way to know, right? But I drank a lot of it (as iced tea, had baby at the end of a hot July!) and I didn't have any trouble pushing or with labor in general, so I guess it "worked"? It tasted good and refreshing in any case.

I drank it regularly and made an extra string brew to chug before I went to the hospital. I ended up dumping it down the sink before we left because I was scared of my contractions getting stronger! When we arrived at the hospital, I was at a 9.

I drank a lot of RRL tea, but I don't think any amount would've helped us. I had a 3 day labor ending in a c-section. LOL. I liked the tea, though, it just wasn't going to help for our difficulties.

No way to know! But I went into labor at 39 weeks, contractions were crazy strong once they got going, I didn't push for very long, and recovery went well. So it's a definite...maybe
ETA: my husband brought me some RRL tea in the hospital. I'd made some the previous day, not knowing I'd be in labor, and he didn't want it to go to waste! Bless his

LO came early, at 39 weeks, with an 8.5 hour labour and 20 mins of pushing... So probably? I was also taking a homeopathic prebirth oral spray so hard to tell.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
I had a long labor but only pushed for 30 minutes. Not sure that I drank enough of the tea for it to make a difference though. I'm drinking a lot more this time. Going to make iced tea next week!

I think so! I had a very fast transition from 1-8cm before getting an epidural!

I'm not sure because I only took it for my 2nd pregnancy. I think it helped… I drank it along with taking EPO.
An hour after my water broke, I headed to the hospital and was already 7 cm dilated… but again, it was my 2nd pregnancy so it could've been that too! 5 hour labor… 4-5 pushes and the baby was out. No tears.
nectarine / 2591 posts
I think so! But I took the capsules (along with EPO) because I couldn't drink enough tea. I had a 13 hr labour and went from a 5 to a 10 in 2 hours with 45 second contractions.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: lol! Geez I put like 4 epos up there everyday starting at 34 weeks and I don't think it did anything.

@anonysquire: your baby practical fell out - something tells me they might have had something to do with it
clementine / 825 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: maybe? I started drinking it every day at 37 weeks and my water broke at 38+2. My midwife said I was a very effective pusher.
eggplant / 11408 posts
Not to threadjack-but what are RRL tea and EPO supposed to do? Did you decide to use them on your own, or were they recommended by your doctor? Is this something I'm supposed to be thinking about? If it would be easier, I can start another thread. But I'm curious and clueless!
papaya / 10343 posts
This is the first I've heard of this but it sounds sort of awesome! How much are you supposed to drink and starting when? I'm 33 weeks, going to ask my midwife about this (and maybe EPO too??) at my 34 week appointment.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
RRL is a uterus toner, it's not supposed to bring on any contractions. EPO is a cervix softener.
eggplant / 11287 posts
@anonysquire: I certainly think it did!! Your pushing stage was incredibly short, that's then goal of EPO and raspberry leaf. Shorten the third stAge of labor by strengthening your uterus!!!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: @Rainbow Sprinkles: oh duh! Why didn't I put two and two together? Duh!!!
coconut / 8475 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: YES.
It's purpose is not to induce labor, but to shorten the duration of labor because it strengthen the uterine muscle and thus makes the contractions stronger and more effective.
I went to 40_3, BUT, my contractions really never hurt and I honestly didn't feel a whole lot even at 6cm and 100% effaced.
Also, I only pushed for 15mins.

@CupQuakeWalk: Hmmmm Then I'm wondering if I should even bother. My first labor was pretty quick and I only pushed 2 times before she was out.

@birdofafeather: that sounds intense! when did you start drinking it? And how much?
pomegranate / 3314 posts
Bumping! I'm 37 weeks today and started drinking the tea yesterday. I'm kind of obsessed and drinking LOTS, lol.
papaya / 10570 posts
No - but two cervadil pessaries and a membrane sweep did nothing either so I'm probably not a good example!
eggplant / 11716 posts
It made me have contractions every time I drank it! Luckily I didn't start drinking it till 37 weeks....delivered at 39 weeks.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I'm following:) I just started drinking it too. I read a lot of great things about having shorter labors, and mine was 36 hours from cervadil insertion (induction) to birth. So any improvement would be appreciated:)
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@Anagram: It makes me a little crampy! But I don't think it's making me contract, even BH. I don't really get BH, I"ve only felt them a couple of times this pregnancy. So these vague period-like cramps kind of puzzled me but whatevs. Maybe I'll get lucky and go into labor a little early like you:)
nectarine / 2784 posts
I went late but I only had a few hours of active labor and one hour of pushing so maybe? I drank one, sometimes two cups a day in the last two weeks.
pomegranate / 3314 posts
@Anagram: Yeah, it definitely gives me a lot of BH contractions. I kind of like it since it makes me feel like I'm being proactive. I mean, at this stage I know it's a waiting game, but I hate waiting!
clementine / 770 posts
I only pushed for 20 min and went into labour 5 days early. So maybe it helped! Entire labour from water breaking to snuggling baby was 11 hrs. With 6 hours active labour.
I think I had two teas a day starting at 37 weeks.
pomegranate / 3314 posts
@PrincessBaby: I never had BH contractions until really recently, either! My first pregnancy... none.
@Anya: Okay, I'm drinking like four cups a day! I might be a little crazy.
nectarine / 2784 posts
@meredithNYC: the package said to have 3-4 cups a day. I kept boiling the water, leaving it on the stove for a minute to cool and forgetting about it until hours later. Lol pregnancy brain!
