Went to my Dr appt at 40w2d...was 3cm and 80% effaced (had been that for a week)... Membranes stripped around 2pm...went into labor at 1am that night.

    Good luck!

ETA: I had them stripped at 39w with no luck - but it was just a mild one - I noticed no discomfort. at my 40w2d appt I told her she could be aggressive with it (was scheduling an induction anyways - so why not) - it was more intense - not pain just pressure - mild spotting afterwards.

@Miss Sarah: so exciting that you're this close to meeting your LO!

I had my membranes swept at 39+6 b/c I was scheduled for induction on my DD but not excited about pitocin. I did have contractions & bloody show that night, but my contractions didn't progress. On my actual DD they got too busy to take me, but LO definitely dropped further b/c I felt like she was pressing on my cervix. By 4am the following morning (so 36hrs after sweep) my water broke. It still took another 23hrs to finally deliver my sweetheart, but perhaps the sweep helped me not need pitocin. Overall, it wasn't that painful & so worth a shot, I say!

@GoGoSnoGirl: Thank you for sharing! I'm definitely excited to try and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, oh well... But it's worth a shot!

@Miss Sarah: Well, I went this morning. He is a big fan of membrane sweeps but he couldn't do one bc I am not dilated at all So I go back in one week! He doesn't want to set up an induction unless I have some dilation so I just have to wait ... Womp womp. Good luck tomorrow!!

Just an update. My membranes were swept this afternoon, about 3.5 hours ago. It wasn't that terrible, definitely not pleasant, but it was short! I'm a little crampy, had a couple of irregular contractions, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

@Miss Sarah: thanks for the update! I am hoping to have this next week at my 40 week if my cervix can get it together and dilate even one cm!!!!! GOOD LUCK!

I just had my membranes swept about 2.5 -3 hours ago. OB used quite a bit of pressure, very very sore/uncomfy. I was already maybe 2-3 cm dilated so hoping it gets things moving. Straight after we left we went for a bit of shopping/walking just to get myself active, and i'm having some light spotting/pink discharge and some mild crampy contractions at the moment. Hope this is it!
