I have no self-control so we paid for an u/s at 16w and found out then.

We're team greeners! Most everything I've found on gender disappointment included finding out the sex mid pregnancy (with most cases dissipating upon birth) so I wanted to avoid that possibility as much as possible.

Elective ultrasound

I wanted to feel SURE about the results so I wanted to be there to find out at the ultrasound and ask them to show me how they knew, etc. But we did want to surprise family, so we did a gender reveal shower. Best of both worlds!

We found out at 13 weeks through the maternit21 test, but we would have found out at the anatomy scan anyway. We're way too impatient!!

I wanted to be team green but DH wasn't convinced so at the gender scan we had the technician write it down and put it in an envelope. Later on when studying the picture DH showed me the male parts. We were so convinced that we were fooling ourselves (hello, penis & balls!) that we opened our envelope at Thanksgiving with family. It said girl! It was fun to share with DH's family. My mom pooped all over it on Skype.

We were team green, but at one of my appointments the Dr handed me a copy of my records to take to another clinic and it was written on there. DH still wanted to be surprised, so I kept it secret from EVERYBODY for two months.

We had the ultrasound tech write it down and we opened it alone after the appointment. It was really nice.

@Sapphiresun: I think I remember your HB post about that! I remember the part about seeing it on the medical record... You saw the female sign or something... So you had a girl, if I recall correctly? And your SO was able to be surprised at birth? Wow!!

For #1, we asked to find out at the anatomy scan... Tech wasn't too sure, so we got an elective U/S at around 24 weeks to confirm. It was exciting and I'll never forget that day.

For #2, I wanted to be Team Green, and DH didn't, so I decided it would be okay for him to find out and not tell me (or anyone else, for that matter!). Tech was great about it and handed DH the envelope. I saw him open it up and I was soon tempted to look, but I didn't... He kept it a secret for the next 20 weeks. I found out at birth and it was amazing!

Next time, we might do the bakery thing. I think it's cute and I'll come up with any excuse to throw a party and have some cake

We couldn't wait and had the US tech tell us right away

We planned on doing a gender reveal party with family by opening up a gift that had either a girl or boy outfit inside. We wouldn't have known either. But that fell through. We just decided to find out via U/S. I'm glad we did. It was a special moment for just me and my husband.

We had the tech seal it in an envelope and we opened it while out to dinner that night. I was SO certain it was a girl but he was indeed a boy! I'm glad we found out ahead on time because it gave me some time to process that it was a boy. I'm opt sure of we will find out this time or not.

We had our ultrasound tech put the results in a sealed envelope. We were going to wrap it up and put it under the christmas tree, but we got about 3 miles down the road, pulled into a wal-mart parking lot and opened the envelope. We bought her some purple and green receiving blankets Then, we didn't tell a SOUL and waited until Christmas morning to tell our families (most over skype). They were pissed when we told them we had known for almost 3 weeks, but we liked having it be our little secret.

I voted other, because for each of my pregnancies we did it differently:
LO#1 we were team green all the way. She is a girl!
LO#2 I found out early, at a 16 week scan to make sure my SCH was going away. At our 20 week scan, DH got to see that it was a boy (I told him earlier of course)
LO#3 DH couldn't come to the 20 week scan, but I couldn't wait. So I found out with a friend who came, then made brownies for DH with "It's a Boy" written in blue m&m's. We also had a gender reveal party, and that is how DD found out (and ultimately got really upset) that she was going to have another brother.

We found out during the 20 week ultrasound--I personally loved it. It was the total cliche "dark room, watching the baby on the screen, holding my husbands hand as the tech announced the sex" moment!

Team green!! BUT, if we weren't, we'd totally do a private envelope ... then a party to reveal to family & friends. I love the idea of finding out with just us two ... I think this is why we're so excited to wait until the birth. It'll be just us two (plus our midwives), and it seems really special.
