I was asked if I had recently had one. And since I did it seemed I was fine.

I declined because I had my annual 3/4 months prior to BFP. Had my next one at 6 weeks pp.

Yes. When I went in for my first prenatal appointment I was due for one. I didn't have any issues!

I had one at my first prenatal appointment also. I wasn't due for one for a few more months, but it's standard to do one at my practice.

BC I had just had one done within the past year I did not need to. Had I not they would have done one at the initial visit.

Yes, I had one at my second appointment; I was slightly overdue. I spotted a little, but only for a few hours afterward. No other issues, and pap was normal.

I had one at my first appointment. It was extremely painful, but I also had a yeast infection on top of everything being more sensitive in that area due to pregnancy.

Getting mine tomorrow, I will be 12 weeks 3 days. And I have had them done with my other two pregnancies

They wanted to at my 2nd appointment (first was just paperwork) but I told them I didn't need it because I wasn't due for one. They weren't thrilled with me, but I wasn't thrilled with them either because I felt it was unnecessary.

I voted no but only because I had one done two months prior to getting pregnant, they decided to skip it. Guess worried about insurance paying the expense.

Yes, at my first appointment at 12 weeks. It had been 2 years since my last one. The doctor used a swab instead of the scraper thing though.

No, but it's because I had had one right before I got pregnant (literally, I had my appt on Thursday, pretty sure I conceived on Monday!) I think otherwise they would have done it at my first appt.
I haven't had to take my pants off for a single appt, actually. The first time will be this week for my 36 week appt and GBS swab.

Yup, but it wasn't until late 2nd trimester and around the time I would have had my normal annual pap smear.

No, but I went in for a pre-conception appointment a month before we conceived and had one done then.

Yep, I wasn't happy about it but they told me it was required by the state...

Nope. I was asked about it when I had my first ob appt in January but I'd just had my regular one in August and since I've had 10 years of normal paps I'm considered safe to only have one biannually.

Yup, it was actually my first ever because I was 21 when I got pregnant.

Yes but I will decline next time. I bled a lot and it freaked me out too much.

Yes for both pregnancies. I was also due for one each time. I had no issues with the pap smear.

Nope, they asked if I was up to date (I was actually due for one right around the time I got pregnant) and they held off until my 6 week postpartum check up. Standard course of action here is to not do them during pregnancy.....but they also don't do any pelvic/internal exams during pregnancy at all either, which I definitely don't mind!

Yes-----My annual fell while I was in my first trimester. I think I was like 6-7w along?
pomegranate / 3113 posts
Nope. When I had my last one done, they did some sort of additional screening and determined I was low risk so they will go 2+ years between Paps for me now. My PCP (who also takes care of the Pap) and my midwives are part of the same university medical system so the midwife just pulled up my record, verified the date and results of my last one, and said there was no need for another. Made me happy!

No beause I had one the month before getting pregnant, and then had one at my 6 week check up.

No because I wasn't due for one until about 20 weeks and they said that would be too far into my pregnancy to do one. So it's likely we'll do one a few weeks postpartum.

I had my annual exam the week before we conceived. When I went in for my 8 week appointment, there was no reason to do it again.

Yup - had one today at my first appointment (at 10 weeks/9 weeks after they did the ultrasound and moved my due date back). I was definitely due for one, but I'm pretty sure it's standard for the first appointment at my dr's office anyways.

Nope, I declined. Your cervical tissue goes through some major changes during pregnancy and these changes lead to a lot of false positives. Further, even if one were to get a positive result, no intervention would be undertaken until post-partum. So, I didn't see the point. I had one at my six week post-partum appointment instead.
In fact, no one put anything near that part of my body until I had a stretch and sweep at 41 weeks. IMO it's just not necessary.
