DH thought that every baby gets a baby shower. I told him that it's not really common! Sometimes if it's the different gender, then maybe for some clothes?
I'm definitely not expecting one for our second baby. But maybe we'll host a super casual open house Sip N See after the baby is a month.
Did someone throw you a sprinkle for your second baby? Is it common in your family/region?

A friend wanetd to throw me one, but DH was adamantly against it. We had planned on a sip and see, but things just got super busy, that we never ended up having one

No sprinkle or shower. My friend offered to throw me a sprinkle but I don't think they are common around here and I didn't want to seem gift grabby since my LOs are close in age.

We did a casual "sip and see" open house for my friends second. It was nice because they were Team Green and their second was a boy (after first being a girl) and we were able to just do small gifts like boys clothes and toys.

A friend of mine threw me a surprise tea party shower with just a few girlfriends. It was so lovely to be able to celebrate my second pregnancy. Since it was a girl that time, I got so many adorable little outfits. So nice after being team green and having a boy the first time!

Spanish people have a shower per baby - I guess they think of it as showering the baby and not the mom. I told my mom I didn't need another - the kids will only be 20 months apart. Though my SIL said if it's a girl, then she already claims the sprinkle. I think it's a nice gesture to have a little something for each baby. Of course it doesn't need to be a full blown shower.

My mom and mil threw me a sprinkle. It was very small, just my close friends, and they said no gifts necessary. It was fun just to celebrate a new baby with my closest friends. My mom said every baby needs to be celebrated

@creativemomma15: @Mamasig: I totally agree!!! I think each baby should be celebrated. But it's not common here, I think. So I don't think my MIL will throw me one. She can be very traditional.
It would be nice to have even a small lunch, no gifts, to celebrate the new baby.

Full blown showers are common among people I know even whenn the baby is close in age or the same gender.

We will probably have a combined 2nd birthday party and a sprinkle combined since dd #2 will be about a month old when M turns 2

I'm not planning anything. People can come see the baby if they want. I'd rather them bring food than baby stuff at that point, though.

No sprinkle but I wish I had one. I didn't want any gifts. I just wanted to celebrate the baby's upcoming arrival. My in-laws didn't throw him a 30 day party either. I feel horrible that no one wants to celebrate his birth. He definitely doesn't get as much attention as DS1.

I don't think I will. I had a huge shower for my first, and kiddos will likely be close in age (LO is 22 months and we're probably gonna start TTC soon).

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: My in-law's hosted for DS1's party, even though we didn't want one at the time. My parents contributed with a whole roast pig. I just assumed that my in-laws would want to do the same with DS2.

I only have a few friends with more than one kid and none had sprinkles or second showers, that I'm aware of (I'm also not so close to them that I would have made the closest circle of friends cut).
I like the idea of a get together to celebrate the next baby, but without the big gifts aspect of it. One of my closest friends is having her second this month and I'm planning to send her a few girl things, since her first was a boy. She's Jewish so I'm waiting until baby is born to send it.

Where I live people tend to have showers for each child. I didn't really want a shower for my first so we will not do that for any other children. I do like the idea of celebrating all babies though, so maybe a luncheon or something though.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @yin: I'm still a little bummed we didn't throw M a 30 day party. My mom said since my brother wasn't going to for my nephew (born a few days before) I shouldn't either. But then my SIL ended up being pressure into one. Now I wish I would've just done it. But then I didn't want to shell out a few grand either for a big lavish 12 course dinner for everyone.
