I usually only rub if it's itchy or put my hand on it if she's kicking--I love to feel movement!

I would agree that it's instinctive. But I do try and just rest my hands on my belly instead of rubbing it. Of course, I'm rubbing it if it's itchy or there's movement going on.

i started to rub/rest my hands on my belly a lot more after i "popped". i love it, especially when the baby is moving. i try not to do it in front of other people because i feel a little self-conscious, but that's just a personal thing.

Yes! DH asked me the other night why do I do it, does it do anything for her? I said I didn't think so, I just like too.

I do! I find that I did it in the beginning because I wanted people to know I was pregnant, even when I wasn't showing, lol. Now, I do it all the time.....when I'm walking, when he's kicking, when I'm sitting quietly.

Yes and I feel annoying lol but I can't help it. DH always assumes there's something wrong! The thing is now, I don't have that many places left to put my hands... since the belly is just so large and in charge.

LOL! I don't rub my belly but I will put my hand on it when I feel her move. I think this is a good reminder though to try and not to rub it too often! I had a co-worker before who would always rub her belly (not pregnant) and she started gaining some weight and because I think she already had this bad habit of rubbing her belly, everyone kept asking if she was preggers! I definitely don't want to get asked that once LO arrives! haha

I don't! It weirds me out to do it...like i'm drawing attention to it. I put my hand on my stomach if she's flopping around in there, at home, though. I just started to feel it from the outside last night, so that's a new thing for me.
