I was told they would do a swab test for Group B strep at my next appointment which is tomorrow and I assume she may check my cervix as well, I am 36 weeks. I was just wondering did you guys get shaved for your appointments? I honestly cant even see what is going on down there, even with a mirror lol... my husband offered to help me trim but I just dont know if its worth the hassle.

Lol. Yep. I like being clean down there so if I can't get a wax in, I'll shave.. everything!

Last time I shaved was about 36 weeks. Don't think I'll be doing that one again though, just too much work! *tired*

I did! I tried to clean up down there with clippers for my cervical checks. Biggest mistake ever... there was some blood! From now on the doctors are just going to have to deal w/ au naturel!

i tried to trim but it was really scary since i can't see anything down there. so nope, i'm sure they've seen it all.

The new Shick trimmer is awesome. I actually use Gilette Venus Spa for razors (to not to have to use shave gel) but I bought the Shick just for the trimmer. With coupons and stuff you can get it as cheap as $6 and it's battery powered. When I couldn't see anymore down there Rob Sr. lent a hand.

adding... just wanted to say that honestly, unless you are REALLY out of control down there, I wouldn't worry about it-- I always say to myself, the OBGYN sees a LOT worse all the time. I just liked feeling cleaner down there, especially when I can't see what's going on.

I can't see and I never remember to ask my husband to do it, so no. However, when I had my strep B swab at 36 weeks, the doctor did not check my cervix. Then, I skipped my 37 week appointment because I saw the perinatologist twice that week. I went for my 38 week appointment today and he hadn't planned on doing an exam, but I asked for one because I wanted to know if I had progressed at all. Sadly, I have not, but it seemed like I wouldn't have been checked until 39 weeks if I hadn't said anything. I figure the doctor doesn't care if I'm nicely trimmed or not - I'm sure he's seen it all (and honestly, I'm not very hairy anyway).

Oh yeah, I should also add that like Tictactoe, I didn't have a cervical check at 36 weeks either... just the Strep B culture. My 1st cervical check was at the following appt at 37 weeks.
@mrs. tictactoe: I hope everything is ok! For me the perinatologist visits have never been for anything fun... although ours is really nice and always put me at ease.

@skibobrown: My fluid levels were low last Monday when I went for a regular appointment, but by Friday they had increased, so it's ok now. I'll still go back this Friday just to make sure.

Didn't even enter my mind. I took the swab so no one saw my bits anyway. And even if they had, so what!

I think I did my last shave this past weekend (31 weeks). I may check out that Shick trimmer if I don't have the guts to do a wax. I've heard they hurt more when you're pregnant . . .

I'm glad I didnt shave in the end, because when i went for the appointment she told me I was kinda swollen down there and if I had shaved I would have thought it was my fault.

I've been *very carefully* shaving down there blind for quite awhile now.

Uh. No. I trimmed up with a scissors the areas that I could see just so I would feel better but I'm not a super hairy person, so I can't see myself shaving until after the baby comes now. I am sure the doctors see more unshaved ladies than shaved come in for delivery and late appointments since we can't see anything down there!!

I got a bikini wax 10 weeks ago and the hair hasn't grown much, sweet! I am probably going to get another wax before birth though, maybe around 35 weeks.

I've been having my husband maintain that area since I can't see it anymore. He just uses trimmers to clean it up and then shaves my bikini line. We don't shave it down to 12 year old status...it freaks me out.

I've been shaving the whole time. I am normally blind in the shower without my glasses so i'm used to doing it by feel. Might not be perfect, but it's good enough for me. (I don't take it all off...Just the top bottom and sides)

No, actually my clinic sends weekly e-mails with "what's going on this week" and the one at 30 weeks specifically asked us to stop shaving/waxing to prevent any irritation that might lead to infection.

I am 34 weeks and I shave Every. Single. Day. I can't stand not being completely bare down there. So yes, I will be shaved for the appointments!

@cvbee: Lol. I KNOW, right? Actually, I am still trying to trim, because it bugs me otherwise. BUT, I will stop shaving my bikini line until after--no point getting yelled at for something that's difficult to do anyway.
