We shared out EDD - nov 9th and joked that we were going to keep her in there 2 extra days so her birthday could be 11/11/11. Well I did end up being 2 days overdue...everyone said LO must have heard me and decided 11/11/11 would be a good day to come out

It was physically difficult those last two days but I didn't feel like people checking in on me was bothersome. Most of my mom friends were just really sympathetic and others are just curious/excited which didn't bother me.

We did, but you could always just say "sometime in X month". that might help keep the questions at bay when it comes time... or it might increase the frequency because people just love to know! I thought it was fun and didn't mind all the "ohh your due date is getting closer, are you worried about delivery" comments.

I always said "mid-January" but plenty of people kept asking for an exact date, along with boy or girl, and names.

It sure is a silly hang up wanting to know the exact day since most babies aren't born on their due date... I've always wondered if people were trying to count back to the conception date

Honestly no one other than my close family even remembered my EDD! So even if I had made it to my due date, I doubt anyone would have wrote me messages about being overdue.

Also, everyone asks that question right away! No way to avoid it I think.

For people who really cared to know I told them. Otherwise I jut say "end of May". Easier that way!

i told people. but it was more of a due date week... seeing the "dates" didn't correspond with the ultrasound and date of conception.

Not really.. There's also a four day difference between the doctor's date based on measurements around six weeks, and what the machine said based on my 12 week ultrasound.. The doctor did say that it would change a little with different appointments, so I just say "mid" my due month.

I can't really see how you can avoid it, either. Mine is a bit woolly cos I've an irregular cycle, and cos its twins it's so much shorter, and I seem to have a final date rather than a due date. I've begun telling people how many weeks we have left, in some small hope the babas are listening and decide to stay put that long!

Yeah, I cant' really see a way to get around this question. That's all anyone wants to know other than the sex. But when I was planning my wedding and people asked when it was I'd just say "June" if they weren't going to be invited. So that might work for the due date question too!

When people asked when I was due I said, "At the very end of July" and if they pressed me further I told them the actual date. No one seemed to really remember or care (except my mom and MIL!).

My mom suggested that I say "end of September" instead of "September 23," so people don't obsess about the date as it gets closer. "End of September" is my standard answer, but if someone asks specifically, I'll say the 23rd. I agree with PP though, people are going to forget.

Even when they knew my due date everyone still got very annoying when I reached full term. I always had to tell people that lo could stay in my belly as long as she wanted to, and I wanted her to stay in there so I knew she was fully cooked!

We haven't told anyone but my Mom and assorted [non-OB] medical people (dentist, chiropractor, etc.) yet. No one's asked yet but my Mom, and we just told her "late February/early March." It's driving her crazy that we won't give her a specific date, but I explained to her that it's just an estimate anyway. "Right, I know that," she said. "Okay, so if it's an estimate with a range attached to it, what's wrong with just giving the range?"

Maybe it's my weird science brain - we're also listing the week we're in as an algebraic equation of "(2 + x) weeks" because my cycle is longer than 28 days by almost a week, and the doctors already didn't listen to me when I told them that at the beginning and then were surprised when the first ultrasound measured several days off of their original EDD, albeit right in line with mine - but to me the range is more accurate an estimate than one date in that range. And I find it annoying already in non-pregnancy related topics how people ask questions in a small talk capacity and don't really pay attention to the answers anyway. So maybe, if it's not an easy answer that they want to hear, they'll remember better or learn not to ask.

I tell the month first, but then I give the date if asked. Last time my babe came two weeks before the EDD so I didn't have to deal with any annoying questions. If I happen to go over this time and it gets annoying I guess I'll just stop answering the phone and e-mails! I don't thin it's a big deal. Most people ask but they don't REALLY care or remember.
