No one in my family ever offered to throw a bridal shower for me, so I didn't have a family one! Of course I got gifts at the wedding from them, but it always bummed me out that they didn't ask if I wanted a shower. I'm wondering now if anyone is going to offer to throw a baby shower - I would certainly never ask! DH's aunts have already asked to throw me a shower.

Yes. My aunts all threw a baby shower together, and my mom held one at her house for her friends/my friends.

My mom is co-hosting with my best friend. I'm only doing one shower. But I'm not expecting any of my family to attend, other than my mom, since they live out of the area. I'll still invite them though.

No, DH said it was because it was too soon after our wedding and I agree though still

Yep, my mom is throwing mine. My DH's family didn't throw one for either wedding or baby though

Not really..... My mom had an open house once the baby arrived and she invited a lot of our neighbors (her friends) to come meet the baby. They are like family to us since most of our family family (aunts/uncles) all live out of state.

Nope, but my two BFFs did though. In our culture, we don't really do baby showers. We do 1-month celebrations instead.

Not a thing on my side and I didn't live locally. If I did I think my SIL would have for family & friends.
My MIL threw me one for DH's side and my really good friend and mom/SIL co hosted.
@Alivoo01: I am still bummed I let my mom convince me not to do one. She scared me that it would be wedding banquet like.

MIL threw me one for her side of the family.
friends threw us one for my side and friends and we footed the restaurant bill because we didnt want to burden our friends.

Yep, my aunt and cousin are throwing one for me for my side of the family. My husband's aunts did one for his side.

Yes, my MIL threw one locally for her side of the family. Friends are throwing me on in my hometown, but my aunt also offered.

in my mom's circle family doesn't throw showers. my mom's friends threw my main shower which was in the area where I grew up. I had a very small shower at work and that was it, and was plenty.
for our wedding the same friends of my mom's threw one shower, and a friend of my MIL threw another.

My family did not throw me a bridal shower, but DH's family did. I think it will play out the same way for a baby shower.

My MIL hosted one that was for friends and co workers (super fun, but not enough food!). My sister and mom threw a family one, and it was too much stress. I wanted one shower for everyone, but my family refused to work/share with my very easygoing MIL.

I had two bridal showers, one hosted by my aunt in another city for that side of my family that lived closer to her and one hosted by my BFF for friends and other local family members. We did something similar for baby showers, but it was more like my mom and friends hosted the local one.

My DH did - I think my mom told him he wasn't suppose to, so it was technically hosted by my mom and his mom....after he planned it and invited everyone

I had to cancel mine because pre term labor meant I wasn't allowed to fly home for it. But my mom was going to host (for my family, my in laws, and my friends).

My mum and aunts always throw my showers. My family loves to have parties and get together(s), so pretty much any reason is time to party.

Nope, I only had one shower (thank goodness!) and my MIL hosted it with some of my girlfriends. My mom came to it and provided some goodies, but she wasn't involved in the planning. I had two showers for my wedding and it was more trouble than having just one with everyone!

Nope, not wedding or baby, its really not my family's kind of thing. My IL's did for both, I'd have preferred not to, but it's the norm for them so I graciously accepted and had fun.
