just curious =) how did you decide? did you have a preference? if you could do it again would you have done it the same or differently? did you ask the office what they'd be doing (like whether they'd be doing an ultrasound) before you guys decided? if they did come, did they come in with you for the whole thing?

He was there for every single one, except the one where he had a meeting but that was just a heartbeat check anyways. The first one was long but he suffered through it.
My OB has a waiting area beyond the main waiting area, for Dad's and children.

Yes! And so glad he did. The first appointment with our first pregnancy was extremely hard. We were told that we were going to miscarry eventually as there wasn't a strong heart rate. I don't know what I would have done if he hadn't been there. Our second pregnancy, we didn't even get to the doctor before I miscarried.
The third pregnancy, I would have went out of my mind if he hadn't been there to keep me calm. Through the entire 3rd pregnancy, he only missed 1 appointment. So glad I had him there for everything! He asked great questions that I might not have thought of!

Nope. He comes with me to the clinic but he stays in the waiting room and studies. He could come if he wanted but neither of us really care either way. I feel like they'd be pretty boring for him anyway. He's also done the appointments before with his ex, so it's not really new and exciting for him. I don't mind. He'll be there for the birth.
He's come to all the u/s though!

Yes, I had asked beforehand what the apt would be like and they said that would take both our medical histories and listen for the heartbeat. I'm glad he came! He has come to every one so far but might skip the next one because it's a routine one just a week before our 20 week ultrasound.

He came for the first few, all the ultrasound appointments, and the last few.
My doctor confirms pregnancies at 6 weeks with an internal ultrasound. We both wanted to be there to see our LO!
He was in the room with me the whole time (exam room, ultrasound room, and doctor's office).

well I voted "nope" but really, my first appt was just a nurse practitioner thing. so he didn't come to that. but the "2nd" appt, or 1st appt with the OB, he did come to. We had a dating ultrasound there.

Our first pregnancy, he did not since it wasn't an appointment with an u/s. That pregnancy ended in a mc so for this one he's gone to the first and wants to go to the second.

He went to both of my first appts. We didn't like the first OB so we went to the other and he was there for each. Though, the first with our current OB he had to leave after the dating sono because of work. He hasn't been back since! There really is just no need for him to be there to watch me pee in a cup and talk to the Dr. for two minutes. He will be there for our next one though because of the 20 week sono.

Nope, Dh was deployed. I took my mom. My first appointment was at 11w4 days. I had an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat. DH would've been there if had been home.

He came to all of my appointments. I had had an early miscarriage a few months before this pregnancy and really wanted him there for support even at the boring ones.

Yep, he came because I was getting an ultrasound and I was super nervous. He only came to a few appointments after that though. He came when we heard the hearbeat for the first time and then when we had an ultrasound.

He came to the first couple of regular appts, and all ultrasounds. I knew the first one we probably wouldn't have an u/s or hear a heartbeat, but I was really nervous they would tell me bad news or something, so pretty much, any time we could get bad news, I wanted him there just in case. Now that I'm further along, he only comes for ultrasounds (which we should have had the last one of last week). But for the first one-- it was really important to me that he be there.

Nope. My first was just blood draw and confirmation of the pregnancy. He only went to the major us appointments as well as the perinatal ogist apps.

My DH came to my first appointment and he came to the 20-week anatomy ultrasound. He was glad he came to both since he got to see the baby. He hasn't come to any of the other appointments though.

He came to one, not the first one though. He also came to two u/s appt's. He didn't come to my last u/s. This is what we agreed on though. He will be there for the birth and that is the important part. We both didn't feel it was necessary for both of us to miss time at work just for all these quick appointments. Now if there were concerns or something wrong then he would come or if I really felt I needed him there. I fill him in on everything after each appointment.

He did not come to the first one, only because they told me it would just be bloodwork and paper filling out...He came to the second one a week later which consisted of the trans-vag ultrasound to find out the due date!

Nope, cause I knew the first appointment was just pregnancy confirmation, blood work, etc. He came to all appointments that had an ultrasound.

I POAS at midnight and made an appt for 11am...he wasn't able to get out of his shift!

Yes, with my first pregnancy he did and I'm so glad because we found out I had a missed miscarriage. I can't imagine being there alone for that.
This time he will be there, too.

No and I'm SO glad he wasn't... I just had my first one today, it was 2 hours long and he wouldn't have had any reason to be there. It was a half hour of paperwork/questions, some random "general" information from the doctor, a boob check and uterus check, and then a ridiculous amount of bloodwork.
He WILL be at the first ultrasound (in 2 weeks!) when I'm 8 weeks, and the first heartbeat. I think people's first appointments differ though, I've heard some people get an U/S and heartbeat done right away (like at 6 weeks which I am right now)--I did call prior to my appointment to see if they'd be doing anything like that and when I found out they weren't, I told him there was no point to show up yet.

He has come to all of my RE appointments and now my OB appointment as well. I tell him that he doesn't need to come if he has other things to do, but I know he'd rather be there and I'd rather have him there. Luckily he doesn't mind coming, even if it's just for a quick appointment.

Nope- it was an easy decision for us. He is a comission sales guy and waiting 1.5hours in the OB waiting room just didn't make sense for us! He didn't come to any of my OB appts, but did come to my USs.

Yes, he was very interested in coming, and I want him to come to all of the ones that he is in town for. I probably should have sent him out when they did my pap though. He didn't know that's what an internal exam was like and was a bit uncomfortable.

He's been to every dr. appointment and ultrasound so far. He helps me remember questions to ask, remembers what the doctor says, etc.

No, but I wish he had. I called before I went in to ask what all they would do, and it was just draw blood and schedule another appointment. But they ended up doing an ultrasound to see how far along I was. So my husband missed that first US. Sad.

He went to every single appt until a few in the second that were just the routine weight, urine test, "how r u feeling," belly measurement ones.

He went to the first appointment and then ultrasounds after that. I didn't care if he went to any of the other appointments.

Mine won't be! He will for the U/S, of course, but I see no reason for him to be there for bloodwork/PAP/etc. And I know his relevant family history.

Yup! Hubby has come to all my appointments so far. I don't anticipate him missing any future ones either. He has me purposely plan them for the late afternoon so that he can come with! =)

Nope. He came to the first ultrasound but first appointment was pretty boring and mostly just confirming the pregnancy and giving me formula samples...

No. He came to one, but his office is the exact opposite direction of my doctor's office. It would have made him miss about 2 hours minimum of work between travel time and the actual appointment. I gave him lots of blow by blow about what happened. Quite honestly, I didn't matter to me if he was there. There were lots of other things that were more important to me that he do during the pregnancy.

The only one he didn't come to was my 3 hour GD test (I had a prenatal visit in the middle of it), but he dropped me off and picked me up. It was important to him to be very involved in the pregnancy and come to all the appointments, especially the first one since we had miscarried a few months prior.

Nope. It was too hard for him to get the time off from work. He was only able to go to a handful of them. I was ok with it. The only one that made me sad was the anatomy scan. He couldn't get the time off work because it was the day before Thanksgiving. He is definitely going for the next pregnancy!

Nope, he rarely goes to my OB appointments. They're usually very quick and scheduled when he is working. He does go to every ultrasound though. I may start scheduling the OB appointments differently once I'm closer to July, so he can be there.
