We are team green so no gender reveal party for us. I think if we did find out we would think of a cute way to tell our immediate family but not do the whole party thing.

Nope! We found out the gender and then called everyone It just seemed excessive (to us, other people I know love the parties) to have a whole party about it. We did go out shopping immediately to celebrate, though!

Nope! Figured we had thrown enough parties (had just gotten married the year before so there was all of our wedding parties on top of baby showers)

Yup! Our first shower is going to be a surprise gender reveal party. Only my two best friends who are throwing the shower know this is the plan, but even they don't know the gender - only DH and I do. We are going to have a board where everyone writes their guess, then since DH adn I already know we are going to have my parents cut the gender reveal cake towards the end and give out prizes to everyone who guessed it right.

We're doing it for a couple of reasons, first and foremost because I do not want to get all clothes for our shower adn I think if people know the gender ahead of time they will be more likely to bypass our registry adn go buy us a pile of clothes adn second we want to make the announcement really special and memorable isntead of just telling people as they ask (which they do constantly every day).

DH really wants to find out next time so if we do we'll have a sprinkle/gender reveal party. I hate gender specific items so having the reveal & doing something small like bringing a book for the kiddos library or freezer meals suites my liking much better (we'll decide & put on the invite which one when the time comes)!

Plus I love throwing parties so I'm always looking for an excuse to get crafty! I actually already have a secret board for this! lol

I won't be having one, but we are taking reveal pictures beforehand so we have one to post/email.

@grizz: That is very lucky! Everyone will know for our second shower, but at that shower most of the attendees will probably get us clothes anyway so I don't think it will make much of a difference.

@kjpugs: This was why we chose to be team green with P! When I was pregnant with G everyone knew & I got tooooons of boy clothes, many not even season/size appropriate. And like @Modern Daisy: people are crazy about you not telling them or not knowing! Like it's their own child you're withholding information about! lol

@grizz: I got some of the funniest looks when we told people we were team green and then looks of anger & being appalled when we wouldn't share our name choices! Seriously, strangers, people that would never even see me again... talk about crazy!

@runsyellowlites: I know, they do actually get a little angry when we say we don't know. I don't know if it's because they don't believe us or if the disappointment of not finding out is so horrible that it sends them into a downward spin lol!

@grizz: Yup, I remember you posting about this issue before! I totally agree with you about the reasons for not sharing the name and we definitely are not doing this until it is on the birth certificate. People ask and we just say that we're still thinking about it but there are not front runners. Meanwhile we've already decided both the first and middle name But yeah, they do get weird and confused once we say it hasn't been decided - it's like they were looking forward to bashing the name we chose and are disappointed that they won't get the chance!

If I ever had a gender reveal party I would want to make it a conbo baby shower. The theme would bd Old Wives Tales. I love shower games, so I would act out all of the tales and see the accuracy at the end. This of course is just a dream since we likely will not have a pre-baby shower anyway.

We are team green, so the gender will be announced after the baby is born! I wouldn't be comfortable having a gender reveal party-- seems like too much of a fuss for something that really only matters to DH and me (that's how I would feel, not necessarily how others would feel!). And I wouldn't want to lie to people about not knowing for sure. One, I'm a terrible liar and would definitely give it away by accident, but two, I'd feel so guilty keeping it from people. I even feel guilty for not sharing our potential names.

If we had family close by and were going to a family dinner or something, I might do something then, but that isn't our situation.

@Modern Daisy I want to do exactly what you're doing! How does the timing work? I assume you find out the gender approximately around 20 weeks, when is your shower?

@runsyellowlites: This is true, we were team green and though my MIL/FIL were very supportive about it my dad and stepmother seemed to take it personally--like I was keeping it a secret from them just to annoy them--my stepmom in particular seemed to believe that I actually knew but was just not telling her.

If we end up having another LO and if we decide to find out the gender that time I'd like to throw a small gender reveal party and request a book and/or freezer meal.

I did, it was fun, I loved seeing our families reactions. WE will do somethign like it again!

I didn't but I had a blast at my BIL and SIL's party!

@daniellemybelle: play hot potato with a covered rattke and the loser/ winner gets to open the bag/ box to reveal a pink or blue rattle

We did gender reveal cupcakes with our parents, but it wasn't really a party. I kind of want to have one with the next baby since we won't be having a shower, but I doubt my husband will go for it.
