I have been so awful at them! I have taken maybe 5 my entire pregnancy? Someone told me I would really regret it, but I just wasn't super invested in taking a shot of it every week. Maybe I'll regret it afterward.

I did not, and I do regret it. I took maybe 6-7 pics my whole pregnancy, I wished I had more, espeically whole body pics.
Something I'm really looking forward to with my next.

We took some, not every week, though. Enough to see the progression, which is the point, right?
pineapple / 12802 posts
I have been. Just phone pics since my DSLR is not working right now *cries*
They're nothing fancy, just in my bathroom at work ! LOL but I like looking back at them every once in a while.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
Yep - but not every week. Just enough (beginning, middle, and end) so that I can show LO what I looked like.
pear / 1664 posts
Nope. There are pics here and there of me at different stages but I did not document it. I don't regret it either (at least not yet). I have gained a ton of weight, I look like crap, I feel like crap, I do not need to be worried about weekly pics, that's for sure!! We also didn't do a maternity session. I was told I'll regret that, too, but honestly, what would i do with those photos? I sure as heck won't be hanging them up anywhere in my house.

I did them weekly and I'm glad I have them. I loved my bump!
I wish I had more candid shots (as opposed to neck to thighs mirror shots) of both me and me and DH together with my bump.
papaya / 10473 posts
@LazyLightning: hahaha! I feel the same way about maternity pictures. I have a couple of coworkers who harrass me about doing them on a daily basis, but I do not need professional photographic evidence of the bags under my eyes, my newly acquired thunder thighs, and my three chins. I feel like a manatee. Nothing glowy or lovely about that!
I feel ok that I have taken pics at weeks 5, 9/10, 14, 20, 25-ish, and most of my 30s, but wonder if I should've taken them every week instead!
coconut / 8681 posts
I took pics throughout last time and I'm glad that I have them but after like 18 weeks they're all mirror self shots. I wish I'd melt having DH take them! With this pregnancy I'm hoping to get better ones.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@FutureMrsMcK: Oh I hear you on the candid's. I went out this weekend and there were a few pics taken and I REALLY tried to get my belleh out there. LOL. We'll see if it worked once they get posted on FB! haha
coconut / 8498 posts
I took only a few. I kind of regret not taking more, but then I think, "I probably won't care about this when I'm 80."
pear / 1664 posts
@grizz: you're doing better than I am!
I have 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 or so, 16, 22ish, 29 (baby shower), and 31 or so (easter), and I think that's it so far. I'm at 34 now so I should probably take one at some point. They're all just random mirror shots, not even in the same mirror.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
We took them pretty frequently at the beginning, but then slowed down to one every month lately. I wish there were more candid shots of me though! I keep shoving my phone at DH and telling him to take pics of me doing things haha.

@LazyLightning: I feel the same way about maternity sessions - definitely not displaying those!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I took them every week and then got maternity photos done, I'm so glad I did.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
I've been taking them sort of kind of regularly-- I was aiming for every 2-4 weeks at least, and I've managed that so far. it's enough to see progression at least. I'm trying to get better about it towards the end though since I think things will change a little faster. I'm also really happy with my pregnant body- it sounds dumb, but since my belly is the area I have always been self conscious about, I feel really good about the way things have been going. It's just genetic luck so I'm celebrating it while I can-- since i have a feeling it's also going to be where it's hardest to lose later!
I don't need maternity pics though. I'd like a couple of me and DH but nothing professional. Hopefully a friend will just take a few with my DSLR, maybe the weekend of my shower when I'll be almost 35 weeks.

@LazyLightning: lol, i felt the same way!
i have a few candids throughout the pregnancy, and we stopped to take a picture of me before leaving for the hospital. that one made it into the baby book.
bananas / 9357 posts
I took one almost weekly! So glad I did. I didn't have professional ones done and I don't regret that at all. I think next one, I'll try to do monthly shots since it was hard keeping up with the weekly ones.
papaya / 10570 posts
I have taken a fair few but they're not weekly be any means. We don't have a full length mirror at home and DH is a terrible photographer so the only time I get a shot is if I stay in a hotel for work and can use the full length mirror in the room! I've got 3, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22 and 25 weeks so far. I love looking at them for comparison!
cherry / 233 posts
I did well from about week 12 to 17, then missed a couple weeks, took another one, then missed 3 more weeks... I think I'm going to give up on the weeklies.
However, I really want to get some good candids now that I'm looking more pregnant! I also have a photographer friend so I might ask how much she'd charge to do a maternity session--I don't need a ton of pics but I'd like a few nice shots that include DH.
honeydew / 7917 posts
I only took about 6 bump pictures, which was enough to see the progression of my belly. It was difficult to coordinate with DH to take the photos, and I was lazy.

Yes but honestly I hate every minute of it. I need to find a way to make this easier for baby #2 in a few years. I just (literally minutes ago) did mine. I think if DH and I had the same schedule it might be easier- and just do it on a weekend or something. But he works PM and I work 8-5 from home. I never shower until night because our bathroom and bedroom are kind of connected (doorway but no closing door) so he sometimes wakes up. So I have to wait til he's up, shower, put on makeup (stuff I normally do almost never) make sure I remembered to update my shirt (It's a 40-# "calendar" that I cross off weekly, I forgot today so I was blow-drying it and taking pictures while it was still wet!) then have him take the picture before he walks out the door around 12:30 (so he's always in a rush) then HOPE I have a good picture, so I can then PHOTOSHOP it to post that night on the blog. THERE IS NOTHING FUN ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW! But at 15 weeks I'm not showing much, maybe it will be more fun when I am!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
I didn't start taking weekly bump pics until I was about 10 weeks along. I wish I had documented weeks 6-9 even though there wasn't a bump.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
i took them every week, but they were just phone camera in mirror shots, nothing special! now that i have a dslr with the next pregnancy i want to take some fancy tripod pics
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
I do! I take one of myself every week in the mirror, and my DH takes one of me every other week. In the bi-weekly ones I wear the same outfit each time and I use an iphone app to label them.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
I took at least one a week! My mom and MIL would ask for one a lot and I wanted to make sure I had a lot. I do agree with others though that I wish there were more candid pregnancy photos of me with DH.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I take them every few weeks when my mom wants to see one!
grapefruit / 4923 posts
i took about three. while it would be nice to have more, i'm okay without them. the ones i do have are from the end of my pregnancy, which is the time i wanted to remember most because of the big belly!
watermelon / 14467 posts
I've been taking them weekly/bi-weekly in the mirror. Just iPhone pics. I thought I would be more invested in them, but I'm not a big picture taker anyway.
pomelo / 5820 posts
I started taking them at 9 weeks. Wish I took a before shot! I try to take them once a week, but lately it's been every other week. I have scheduling problems with my DH... I get a shower after work and he gets home after me. So, once he's home, I'm usually not camera ready! (He takes all my pictures for me).
pomegranate / 3032 posts
I've been trying to take them about every 4 weeks. So 4, 8, 12 and this week will be 16. I think I'm going to have a coworker take a couple in our photo shoot room at 20 weeks to do a facebook gender poll and at 26 weeks i'll be MoH at my cousins wedding so i'm sure there will be lots of pictures taken
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
I did every other week, but next time I'd like to do weekly.

i took two the entire time i was pregnant with #1...i don't regret it. so far i've taken 1 while pregnant with #2.

i did weekly ones. it is fun to look back and see the progression! i thought i was so big in the beginning... ha!
papaya / 10473 posts
@birdofafeather: Me too! I took one at 5 weeks in the Target fitting rooms because I was convinced I was already showing and that people would find out before we were ready to tell. I came across it the other day and cracked up laughing... Definitely NO belly there!
nectarine / 2771 posts
I took them monthly and that was more than enough documentation for me!
pear / 1787 posts
I'm 12 weeks today and I took one photo at 6 weeks but I haven't taken any since! I just keep forgetting; even though I'm not showing yet I still want to document it.
