@babyjmama: Yes! I. LOVE. THIS! I even read it to him He laughed.
@autumnlove: Yes, it's more for me than for him, he'd be more than happy with little princesses to spoil! I wanted a little boy so badly, and would be perfectly happy with a spunky girl... as long as she can be a tomboy too.
I gotta go with biology on this one, I only carry an X chromosome, he has the deciding X or Y vote. It's unfortunate when the woman gets blamed for baking the "wrong" gender

@highwire: nope. I know gender shouldn't matter and we would be happy with either next but I think my DH is a good girl daddy!

While of course I will love our family however it ends up, I personally would love to have all girls. I had two brothers and it was not fun.

Honestly, I was the one with a preference, I really saw myself as a boy mom, can't explain it!

Not at all. If he really meant a lot to him, maybe ... and I get it cause I really wanted a daughter. But it isn't a big deal to him and he thinks DD is more than enough.

DH really wants a son, and I always remind him that it is his job to make one! But now that he has a daughter, he's commented on having more!

I sort of do actually... and I'm normally about as feminist as they come. DH is the last male in his family with his last name. Considering that our society is still so patriarchal, it is far more likely that his name will get passed on if he has a son (although I know this is changing). For this reason, DH really wants a son. I also really want a son, mostly b/c I want a mama's boy My little girl is a daddy's girl, and she is so independent, she rarely ever wants to snuggle. I'm so jealous of all of my friends with mama's boys. We'll be happy with whatever gender of child we have next, but we will probably try that timing method (shettles) for trying to have a boy.

I feel a lot more pressure to give my parents/grandparents a son than I do DH.. I think he'll be happy either way.
Out of 15 grandchildren on my side of the family, only 2 are boys!!! And I KNOW my dad wants a grandson to spoil.

i want to give DH a son having nothing to do with carrying on his name or anything of that nature. I want him to have a son because as much as he's excited to have a daughter, he would absolutely die for a 'mini-him' for some of his more manly hobbies (like heavy construction). Plus, we've agreed on only having two, and i think he may freak out if we have two daughters (he'll be ecstatic, and he'll deal, but he wants a boy). And, on a selfish note, i want a boy because I want to see what a mini-DH looks like!!

I wanted us to have a son at some point b/c his family has a naming tradition and his brother and SIL didn't do it.
That said, as others have said, gender determination is in the sperm...so it's really the luck of the draw what we end up with.

I feel a little bit of pressure because we are the last ones to carry on his family name. We are team green though right now and since we are about to have our first, we have no preference on sex. However, I would eventually like to have a boy!

No. We are both happy with whatever we get. Although if we do not get a boy, our last name will stop there...but that's ok He does really well with our daughter, and he already mentioned to me he is happy with another girl if that's what baby turns out to be.

@mrs. bird: well, at least that makes you a PRINCESS.... YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted the boy! He's one of two boys so of course he wanted a boy... neither of us knew what to do with a girl. We were both happy when WJ was a boy (we were team green). So when we found out LMW was a girl we were both a little freaked out. Of course now she totally has us wrapped around her little finger.
