DH and I were just talking about announcing the pregnancy on Facebook - we're sort of on the fence about it but it might just be easier to let all our friends and extended family find out at once.
Did (or will) you announce your pregnancy on facebook? If you did, share how you let everyone know! Does anyone have any funny, creative or cute ideas?

We announced on FB at 12 weeks just after our first scan. Mostly because it's the best way for me to keep up with all my friends back home. That said, we did tell my parents by phone a few weeks before and sent an email to family members letting them know just prior.
I just posted a picture from the scan with the caption "Hey everybody- Look what <tag of husband's name> and I made!"

I think we'll come up with a cute announcement photo (maybe the two of us alongside the road next to a "bump ahead" sign), and post it on facebook around the 2nd trimester mark, after we've told everyone close to us.

I think we will tell on fb at the 12 week mark. (should be right around Christmas/New Years time) I think I am just going to change my profile picture to a bun in an oven and see how long it takes for people to figure out.

My husband did because that's how he communicates with his extended family. Also he has a lot more close-ish friends that are spread all over the world (part of Navy life) and that's the best way to spread the word. I have far fewer, but much closer friends and I told them all individually.
I do post my ultrasound pictures on Facebook though!

When we found out at 13 weeks that we were expecting identical twins, we were so floored that we posted the sonogram picture. Hubby actually posted it before I did -- so that pushed me to post it as well.

we're not expecting yet, but i think that i'll be telling our parents and close friends and relatives first (and more personally), and then breaking the news in the 2nd trimester to the "world" via facebook

I'm going to at maybe 15 or 16 weeks. I had a cute graphic made by someone on etsy and I will make it my profile pic. <http://www.etsy.com/transaction/60465954>

I'm still planning on doing the whole hamburger in the oven to let my husband know we are pregnant (get it... bun in the oven). I plan on taking a picture of it and when I'm at 12 weeks or so, I will post that pic on FB.
Oh, we both use FB a lot to communicate with friends and family back east.

I did, once we went in for our 12 week scan, we posted a pic of the baby on each of our profiles. Not that creative, but it gets the point across. Prior to that we told our immediate families and very close friends in person.

No to facebook. My SO is anti facebook. And I don't need every body and their dog to know.
When we get our BFP, I am going to get a frame that says best grandpa/grandma/grandparents for each of our parents and put a little note that says insert picture here and the due date. I am going to mail them to our parents. I won't give it to them until the 3rd trimester. I thought they would like that. I want to put a note on it that says please call before opening, so I can be on the phone with them when they open it.

I never announced it on facebook and requested those that I did tell not to post anything about it. My personal feeling was that somethings are too personal and pregnancy was one of those things. The people that I felt it was important to tell heard it from me directly.

we will probably wait until the gender scan, and share it all at once. I definitely don't want to put it on there in the first trimester.

@sorrycharlie: I agree, I won't be sharing anything until at least 12 weeks (which makes me angry since MIL posted our ultrasound photo on her facebook and I'm only 9 weeks)
Lately, there's been quite a few of my pregnant facebook friends who have shared the same day they got the positive test. I don't get it.

@heatherloveskenny: oh my gosh! I'd be so mad. I've noticed the same thing with people posting it as soon as the get the test.
actually this summer, my cousin announced his g/f of a month (!) was pregnant. it was all over their facebooks. I said to my aunt that I couldn't believe they were telling everyone already (at 4 weeks)..and at 7/8 weeks, she miscarried. people still write on her wall, "how's the baby!" and she has to say that she miscarried. agh. I just want to avoid that whole thing if possible.

I'm a pretty private person so I don't think I'll be posting any sort of announcement. I may post a picture but that's doubtful.
@sorrycharlie and @heatherlovesskenny: I know what you mean, my SIL started posting baby bump pics every week starting at 5 weeks, when there wasn't even a bump!

I'll definitely wait a while before I post anything on Facebook. We're telling my parents at 12 weeks and I'm going to have to sit my mom down and tell her not to write anything, as well. She gets a little over-excited sometimes. I want to wait until we have our gender scan before we say anything publicly. I have blocked people from writing on my wall, so no one can post congrats to me when they do find out.

The hubs is sort of anti-facebook, so I doubt that I will post any official announcement. When we tell our family & friends around 12-15 weeks, I'll probably ask them not to post about it.

FB makes things so complicated!!! I think we will eventually post it, but we plan on telling our immediate family around 11-12 weeks. And then we'll tell extended family after that, and then work & friends.
FB makes it hard, because as soon as you tell friends, then they tell other friends who might reach out on FB. But I am friends with work people on FB so I need to make sure they don't find out that way...
So complicated! I may end up disabling my wall between 12-14 weeks when we plan on sharing the news. I probably won't officially announce it until we know the sex.

We posted about Moose on Facebook, which made it weird when Moose died so late in my pregnancy. With Wombat, we didn't post anything online until after she was born.

I probably won't announce on Facebook... more of not hide it. We'll tell our family and friends and then after that, I won't try to hide it and if something baby-related comes up, I won't refrain from posting it. But I probably won't do a "Hey, we're expecting!" post.

My husband is anti-facebook and I haven't asked him how he feels about a post about it. If I do post something, it would be in a few weeks, after I tell folks at work and everyone we plan to tell IRL. Maybe a Happy Thanksgiving post and that we have a lot to be thankful for, including Baby Winnie on the way.

DH is anti-facebook. I've been trying to edit my friends list down and also have strict privacy settings of my wall/photos/etc. I probably will not post anything until the second trimester if at all for friends that are in far away places!
Elsewise, my close friends/family will have my blog to follow and e-mail chains.

Sort of related, but why do some parents make FB profiles for their yet-to-be-born children?
It's a bit weird to be sent a FB friend request from your friend's fetus with the U/S picture as their profile photo.

I'll prob post something at 12 weeks-- hubs wants to tell our friends NOW but I'm super paranoid and don't want to until the 12 week mark, either. I don't think he can wait, so we'll tell friends after my first pre-natal appt (around 8 weeks). I'm only 4 weeks now and he's dying to tell people!
We told our immediate families right away (the day after we got our BFP). I figured that if something went wrong, I wouldn't mind their support, but I don't want all of our friends to know/bring it up.

My husbands family is from Peru. He has some family members here who we are close with and will receive our announcement Christmas card, but a couple weeks after that we will post it on FB to let them know. They mostly communicate through FB due to costs and things.

I moved 1400 miles away from my family and friends to be with DH, so I keep up with a lot of my people via FB. We're almost 13w now, and trying to figure out how we want to announce on FB. We'll prolly have done it by the end of the week. I've told all my close friends and family on the phone or in person already.

We contacted family and close friends and let them know personally. I think FB is a great way to keep family updated as long as you use their privacy settings. We posted pics and updates on facebook as the pregnancy progressed but made sure it was only viewable to a family and close friends.

We told close family members at 10 weeks. But we posted it on Facebook after the NT scan. I was 13 weeks, so i thought it was pretty safe to tell our friends. I posted an ultrasound pic and the following (minus our names):
