I have an 8x12 raised bed and a couple of containers planted. I only plant things we eat and then try something fun/new. This year is peppers (jalepeno, fish, bell, cubanero, and sweet banana) 2 varieties of carrot, 3 varieties of bush beans, cow peas, zucchini and something called a ground cherry, which is my fun item. I also have strawberries, blackberries sand grapes going.

And I grew cukes a couple of years ago, but my husband accidentally killed them before they were ready to harvest. They were wonky looking, though, and I haven't attempted them again. I have terrible luck with anything in the cuke/melon family.

We are planning to start planting our first this weekend, so also commenting to follow!

DH built me 2 raised beds for our roof deck last year for my birthday. I grew a lot of herbs last year and tried my hand at cukes (fail), tomatoes (some yes some no), strawberries (one berry then the plant died)

Hoping for tomatoes, radishes, arugula or lettuce, and strawberries this year.

We have one but it's DH's domain. I think this year his summer crop includes kale, fava beans, snap peas, tomatoes, strawberries, squashes (summer and winter), beets, and probably some other things.

Once we move we totally plan on doing this! We really miss having our own fresh veggies!

We grow a huge garden each year and preserve the excess. We have over 5000 square foot of garden and 3 raised beds too. I love garden season!

We start our cukes from seeds but do so right in the garden soil after last frost. I've never started them inside.

I would like to do a small garden this year. Even if it's just tomatoes & herbs.

@babycanuck: We're similar - no yard or ground but we use pots and start most things from seeds inside. No experience with cucumber, though! We bought some seeds this year but haven't planted them yet. Peppers and tomatoes and lettuces and herbs are already transplanted outside! We have the hardest time with broccoli and are trying a new variety this year, which is just now sprouting. Such a fun time of year

Last year I did carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce and swiss chard. Planted beans but they didn't come up.

This year I'm going to do the same except skip the Swiss chard and try corn. I LOVE fresh veggies!

Yep! We've been gardening since we first moved into a house. Keeping it easy this year because of baby: carrots, peas, tomatoes, lettuce. We also have 2 fruit trees (plum & cherry), a kiwi bush, and grapes.

I got them at Lowe's. They're Burpee's "Microgreens Rainbow Blend". I've got them in pots, so we aren't producing a ton (just enough to top off a salad, really), but it has been fun for my son to water them and watch them grow. We've been using a spray bottle to water them because they're sort of delicate and my son can go to town with the bottle and still not flood them. They need to be watered twice a day if you've got them in full sun, or else they'll wilt.

ETA: I'm thinking about doing them in flatter, planter-style pots next time. They don't have deep roots and the round terra cotta pots I'm using require a lot of extra potting soil to fill them up. Our first batch was fun, but I sort of felt like we were reenacting that last scene in Wall*E where the humans are all like "Hey, kids! This is agriculture!"...while ooohing and aaahing over one little sprout.

I've got tomatoes and some flowers started in the basement right now. They are going to be rediculous by the time i get to bring them outside - I didn't expecy spring to be so late! I'm also going to plant potatoes, onion, peas, cukes, cauliflower, broccoli, jalapenos, green peppers and carrots. Can't wait!

@babycanuck: I've never started cukes, myself, but my mom has. I think they are pretty easy, but they are delicate. If you harden them off too fast, they will die.

This year, we're growing from seed:

giant pumpkins (2nd try, failed last year)

Indoors, I'm also growing peashoots from a box of dried peas for soup and experimenting on growing sweet potato leaves from grocery bought sweet potatoes.

Outdoors, we're experimenting on growing sunchokes from ones we bought at a farmer's market last autumn. Though they haven't come up yet. I've also gathered stray strawberries and placed them in the southend for a more serious strawberry harvest.

We bought another blueberry bush since we read they do best with a different varieties planted nearby. It'll be our 2nd year with those, so our bushes are still really small.

Hopefully our green gage plum tree fruits this year. Even if it's just one plum, we'll be happy!

As for my failed attempts: the peppers are on their 2nd attempt for this season. I thought they'd be happy by the window, but they withered I finally got them to sprout again and put them away from direct sunlight for now.

It'll also be my 2nd attempt to grow giant pumpkins. It was a total failure last year. We started too early and was too lazy to harden them off before putting them outside (they looked so healthy), but they didn't make it. I haven't sowed the seeds yet, but I'll do it soon.

We have a couple raised beds, and we are doing basil, cilantro, mint, cucumbers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, green beans, okra, and strawberries. I'm going to try to grow a few greens, like spinach, in the shade of some of my bigger plants but my hopes aren't super high since its hot here
