One of my most frequent pregnancy thoughts is how many more weeks until viability. Maybe it's just because of the extra risk of pre-term labor, but that magical viability marker is all I can think about sometimes! We have 5 1/2 weeks to go. I will breathe a huge sigh of relief when I hit it.
Do/Did you keep a running tab on how long until you hit viability?

I did! And every week after that I'd get excited to tell DH the new percentage chance that the baby would be born with no long term issues. And then I counted down to full term!

There's a chance I was counting the HOURS at certain points : )
And then after I had pre term contractions at 26 weeks my state of mind to changed to counting how long until 36.
Now that I'm 37.5 and they have taken me off all my meds and restrictions apparently this baby has decided it's comfortable in there now!!!

@MamaMoose: That's how my nephew was! My SIL went into labor two or three times and they kept stopping the contractions. They told her at about 36 or 37 weeks they'd let him come whenever and she ended up being induced at 38 weeks for high blood pressure! Once he was allowed to come, he didn't want to anymore!

I did! Being pregnant with twins I have all the goal weeks in my head that I keep track of :).

I did, although that just brings up another scary set of numbers. 23 weeks is viability, but you sure as heck don't want your baby born then. I really breathed a sigh of relief at 28 weeks, knowing that if I delivered that day, my baby would most likely survive and be healthy.

I totally did! and when I hit it and was excited, so many people said I was horrible...which I didn't understand. I wasn't *wishing* her to come then, I was relieved that if anything happened, she'd have a better shot!

Oh definitely! I still look forward and think about every Saturday (my day for moving to the next week) and countdown to the next big milestones. V-Day is definitely my next milestone and I was just thinking about it today.

I was happy once we reached that mark; but it certianly didn't make me breath a sigh of relief. Just seemed like a whole new set of issues to worry about

I did!
I had a pretty scary first trimester (lots of unexplained bleeding and cramping.. docs thought for sure I'd miscarry) so I was counting down the minutes to the end of the first trimester.

definitely! i didn't even announce both pregnancies until 20 weeks. and every week past 24 i was like ok they're much more likely to survive now.....

I didn't count down to viability, but I counted down til 37 weeks. I'm worried baby boy might arrive early since I'm always lifting DD. I get crazy braxton hix contractions every day too.

@sarac: @yoursilverlining: It's definitely not that I will want them to come at 24 weeks (I think 24 weeks is a 50/50 chance of survival), but it will just make me feel better to know that there is a better chance! With everything being high-risk for us, knowing there is a chance at all will still make me feel much better, though I know I'll immediately start focusing on the next goal.

Now counting down the weeks until full term (exactly 2).
I also have never looked so forward to Wednesday's before. That's when I transition into the next week.

Yep! And now I've started counting down to 37 weeks, when they'll be considered full-term and okay to come out!

I didnt know about viability being at 24 weeks. But I kept counting down till I reach 30 weeks. For some reaons I convinced myself that if I made it to 30 weeks everything would be fine from then on and even if the baby came early she would have a higher chance of survival

Although I think 24 weeks will be a big milestone for me, I think everyone's definition of "viability" is different... I'm a NICU nurse, and have taken care of babies as little as 23 weeks (23 weeks is considered "viability" in my city) but I know the outcomes are often not good. So actually I think 23-27 weeks will be super stressful for me, since I know technically they will resuscitate if that is my wish, but it would be a verrrrrry long road ahead.

Yes, I absolutely did.
However, in my town we have the biggest and best known children's hospital with a #1 rated NICU, so 24 is not viability there...they have seen much "younger".
Every.single.day. after 24w was a huge blessing! I got to 40w & 3 days hehe. That was a little further than I would have liked to go in my pregnancy:)
