I think I'm a glutton for punishment because I've been tracking my measurements and weight on a spreadsheet.

Yup. I probably shouldn't because it feeds into all the other body image issues that I have, but I do.

Nope! The only time I step on the scale is at the dr's, and I never look!
pineapple / 12566 posts
Nope. We don't own a scale so I only let myself be weighed at the doctor's office. However, now that I'm almost 4 weeks PP, I'm curious to see where I am, but I don't fret over it.

Nope ! Now is not the time to worry about numbers on a scale. I just eat healthy (for the most past lol) and exercise 3x/week. My baby wants me to gain weight

Yes, but only because I had nurses calling every few weeks for my blood sugar logs and weight because of my GD.

Nope. I wouldn't let my doctor tell me. I knew it would just stress me out and who needs that? Pregnancy is stressful enough.
nectarine / 2973 posts
Yep! It really did nothing but stress me out. And I gained most of my weight in my second trimester so I was convinced that I was on track to gain 40 lbs. buttttt my weight gain slowed way down and I gained 23 lbs overall.

@BabyBoecksMom: Kind of. I have a little yellow card I have to bring to each midwife appointment ... I weigh myself when I get there & have to record it. So, I know my weight gain, but I really try not to fixate or dwell on it.

I don't even own a scale, and never asked my weight at the doctors office.
I ate what I wanted and gained 28 pounds.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I've already gained 25 lbs and have 13 weeks to go

My doc was really hardcore and made me cry about it. In retrospect I was glad because I had a 6 pound baby and not a lot of weight to lose. She was really hardcore though! (No hair dye, no deli, no caffeine. ..it worked for me because I am kind of a perfectionist *not that it's fun!*) I don't own a scale but she had me count calories and weigh-in was the first thing we did. She had me cut carbs and I exercised regularly.

For some reason, I never get weighed at my appointments! I have a yellow card I need to bring to every appointment (my care is shared between the midwifery group practice at my birth centre and my GP), which has a spot for tracking weight - but since my 12 week u/s, no one has weighed me!! Its been a bit of a shock, as most ladies I know who have been pregnant have had doctors pretty obsessed with limiting weight gain. But I am much happier with it this way. They always comment on my perfect blood pressure and my compact bump, so I guess they aren't concerned? I'm pretty sure I've gained at least 20-25lbs, but I'm trying not to focus on it, and not being weighed helps a lot!

Nope. I only know my weight at the dr and it doesn't concern me during pregnancy.
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
@Greentea: Wow! That sounds really hard-core! I don't think I would have been able to handle that, even though I'm into eating right and exercising. I mean, I understand why she was like that, but geez!

No! Lol the only time I step on a scale is at my doctors office. That is heartbreaking enough.
pomelo / 5678 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: hahaha! yeah. It was the first thing discussed when I met with the nurse... then halfway through pg the doc told me I was gaining too much and I asked what I should do then went home and cried. Then did it. She definitely was not a warm friend type doc!

I haven't weighed myself since I got pregnant. DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!!! Lol
honeydew / 7916 posts
I've been weighing myself at home a few times a week and now I'm sort of glad because I hate the number, but I get weighed at so many different doctors' offices and their scales are really far off from each other. So my home scale gives me a baseline to keep me from freaking out.
clementine / 984 posts
Only at my appointments. The scale read-out is right at eye level, and the OB always makes sure to talk about gain between visits and total. I'm not letting it get to me, because he never says it's an issue, but I've gained 32lbs in 32 weeks. Eek!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Sort of? I weigh myself every morning and know when I've had big changes but I'm not logging it everyday. But I can tell you what I weigh every day.
papaya / 10343 posts
Yep, I weigh myself most days. I was concerned when I got pregnant because I was already overweight and was really scared of gaining a ton more. But so far it hasn't stressed me out because so far I've just naturally wanted to eat less and as of my 20 week appt I was still -5. I gained a few lbs over the holidays but I expect that is more cookies than baby and will prob even out now that I'm back to eating normally. (Doc only wants me to gain net 10 so being down at 20 weeks is actually great for my personal situation, although I know it isn't for ppl who start at a healthy weight).

I track myself on the scale every week or so but that's it. After not gaining anything the first 20 weeks I finally started to put some on the past seven weeks and now I kinda want to hold back on checking it so much so I don't freak myself out.
honeydew / 7917 posts
For the longest time I never tracked my weight, but now we have a digital scale and it's too easy to step on it out of curiosity. I prefer to judge my weight by how clothes fit on me.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
I didn't go that far but I definitely kept track! I didn't start to gain until about 1/2 way through & by the end I'd gained about 40 pounds!
