I've taken half a pack of emergen-c. I didn't want to overdose on vitamins since I'm on Prenatal as well.

I just asked my doctor this today. Well, I specifically asked about Airborne. She said not to take it while pregnant because in addition to Vitamin C, it has a lot of other stuff in in that hasn't been specifically tested. She advised me to take Vitamin C instead- that you can't take too much because you will just pee out the excess.

@MelisMc: Hmm interesting. I would think it has all the same vitamins as a regular vitamin? I'm borderline desperate at this point though!

I didn't think either was really proven to prevent a cold, but zinc has! I don't think its a big deal to take a few Zinc lozenges and its on the safe list. And then the standard rest and hydration to boost my immune system as much as I can

@blackbird: There is zinc in Emergen-C, I believe. I'm trying to hydrate. Were in Europe though so extra rest isn't really an option. Just trying to survive the rest of the without getting worse!

Emergen-c has a lot of vitamins that are already in prenatals, so I suspect it's not good to take because you could get too much. If you can just rest and drink lots of warm fluids, that's safer. Hope you feel better soon!

@Mama Bird: I take a combo of vitamins in lieu of a prenatal which my doctor said is the same thing (it was her suggestion). Just sucks because extra rest isn't an option right now...

I've taken it once or twice. Personally, I think its okay, though I haven't asked a doc.

I took it for a few days in 3rd trimester when I was super sick and couldn't take any meds!

Not sure what else is in emergenC but I don't think it is advisable to take Airborne or echinacea (my typical go to) during pregnancy. Vit C is water soluble & so you pee it out quickly. If you could just take small-med doses of vit c or even juices/fruits/veggies high in C several times a day & stay hydrated, that'd help quite a bit.

@78h2o: That was kinda my thought... I'm not eating "off limits" foods or drinking so if extra vitamins is the worst I'm taking??
@GoGoSnoGirl: Just a bunch of vitamins and minerals really!

@LindsayInNY: for some vitamins & minerals it is possible to take too much, but I don't know which ones off the top of my head. And this is likely more of an issue if done chronically, not just for a few days.

@GoGoSnoGirl: @LindsayInNY: It's A, D, E, and K. They are stored in fat. The others are basically water soluble.
