Oh my gosh you guys, I didn't even think about iron but I bet that's it! I'm always borderline anemic (I'm vegetarian so don't get much iron nutritionally) and Right around this point with lo's pregnancy my ob had me start iron supplements. I have my gd test next week and I'm pretty sure she checks iron levels then.i wonder if I should wait to start or just go ahead and start them again...

Anatomy scan went well. I was a nervous mess during it--starting when the tech said "I just need a few more heart pictures" and then proceeded to take as long looking at her heart as she had looking at the rest of her body parts combined. But the doctor came in and said all looked well so huge relief.
She's measuring at the 30% for her gestational age (which seems to me to be right about what my son was doing during all of my first pregnancy) and her heart rate was 138 beats/minute which I was assured is normal.

@Pumuckl: @WyattnewbabysMama: Yay for good appointments.
@WyattnewbabysMama: Its so hard not to over analyze everything they're looking at! I know I had major anxiety the whole time as well!
DD's hb was 141, so right around yours.

@MrsA: I have a cold too and it is knocking me on my ass! Between toddler wrangling, working and commuting, growing a baby and a travelling DH, I've all but given up today. Lol!

Hi all. I'm glad everyone has had positive appointments. An update on why I've been MIA lately. I'm currently on hospital bed rest. My cervix is not cooperating and I'm in the Trendelenburg position (not fun, but very necessary). We're currently 23 weeks and doing everything possible to keep these girls in as long as possible. We're believing God for the best and taking it one day at a time. I'll still be popping in on here and FB, but taking time to get my mind and body on the same page.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@tbuzz: oh gosh, while glad to hear you and the girls are hanging on I am so sorry to hear you have to be on bed rest! Is the trendelenburg position the one were your feet are higher than your head?
cherry / 103 posts
@Pumuckl: yes. Gravity is supposed to help keep pressure off my cervix. In one week, I went from a 9mm funnel to a 40mm. The only thing holding them in is the cerclage. I haven't been out of bed since Wednesday. I didn't even get to go home after my doctors appointment. Straight from his office and down the hall to my "home" for the next 17 or so weeks (prayerfully).
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@tbuzz: wow, that's a big change in funnel! Hopefully it will decrease for you. Do you have contractions too that they're trying to stop or just the incompetent cervix? Big hugs to you and so many good thoughts for you and the babies!
cherry / 103 posts
@Pumuckl: if there is a silver lining, it's that I'm not having contractions. We're just dealing with the incompetent cervix. Thanks for the positive thoughts.
@nana87: thanks for the positive thoughts.

@tbuzz: How are you doing?!
Good here, 22 weeks; pregnancy is pretty easy on me although rolling over in bed is getting hard already! Got our (used/free) toddler bed this weekend which needs to be sanded and painted. Fabric bought for the quilts so hoping to start those soon. And I think we are 100% decided on Emma for baby girl, just have to figure out her middle name.

I'm doing okay. Still getting over a killer cold, so that hasn't been fun. And I'm really struggling with my body image. I feel like I'm so much bigger this time around than last time. I feel huge and gross and still have 17 weeks to go!
We bought the crib and change table. Need to paint and assemble furniture. I'm starting my laundry list of "to-dos" and it's a by overwhelming, but I think I'll be able to take a good chunk of my sick time before baby comes to get things done.

@tbuzz: Hi tbuzz, how are you doing???
22 wks today. Overall feeling pretty good. I am dog tired this week though. I think I over did it sunday and now I just can't catch back up. We had a bday party and then our family pictures. (for anyone who saw my post on fb I decided to go with contacts ) I am dying see the pictures of DD although the process was so stressful!!! DH made DD cry right in the middle of the session and she "wanted to go home", ugh, men!
I am just dragging butt til the weekend. I stayed up too late last night watching part of the debate This Saturday we are going to Disney on ice, I can't wait to see DD's reaction!!
How is everyone else?
Is it time for a new roll call yet??

I caught a stomach bug from dd early this week that was brutal! I'm swamped at work and losing time from being basically out of commission for 2 days is no good at all. I've also been having a lot of what I'm assuming is RLP lately, and the combo of that + gas pains, either related to the virus or just normal gas pain, was excruciating yesterday afternoon (I had to teach and was wearing a tight dress that def didnt help!) I'm trying to work a normal day today, and I have a training thing today in the afternoon, but am def looking forward to the weekend!
Also I have my GD test tomorrow...dd is home with me on Fridays so I'm going to have to keep her occupied while she tags along with me to the appointment tomorrow, yikes!

OH! and I forgot the best part! dh finally felt this little girl kicking last night! We joked that she was getting riled up by the debate too, lol

I'm doing well. We had a birthday party for our 4 year old last weekend which was lots of fun, and the baby has been moving a lot, which is reassuring. The 24-week ultrasound (I get them every month because of low papp-A) looked good. I feel like I have suddenly gotten really big though - is anyone else feeling that way? Like my bump should be 30 weeks or something! Maybe I need to cut back on the cookies...

What have you bought for new baby? A couple outfits and fabric for her quilt

Anyone planning a shower/sprinkle? Maybe a Huggies for chuggies party for dh this time.
What will your maternity leave look like? How long? Will you go back to work? Are you a SAHM? I get the base 6/8 weeks on STD. Will most likely try to take 7.
Any cravings? Late night runs to the store?? Not anymore, I did have cravings for fried chicken and mashed potatoes, mcdonalds, cheese fries. All so good for me.
Thanksgiving plans? Not sure yet, we usually get together with my dad's side and DHs family, and we have DS's bday that weekend too.
What are you asking for for Christmas? Clothes, sweats for maternity leave, baby girl clothes Frying pans and new towels.
Finally, BUMP DATE... post your bump pic. From Wednesday..

@Beehive: YES to feeling suddenly huge. There must be a 24 week growth spurt or something because I am giant and I feel like it came out of nowhere. The worst thing about this being baby #2 is that I feel very aware of how far there still is to go. Where is it even gonna go?!?
nectarine / 2054 posts
How far along are you now? 24 weeks 5 days
Next appt? Monday, monthly checkup at the OB
Symptoms? How ya feeling? Feeling good at the moment, I think I'm in the 2nd trimester sweet spot
What have you bought for new baby? Nothing yet, but we're working on clearing out and organizing DS's toys and clothes - a great excuse to get organized
Has anyone given you gifts/etc for new baby yet? Anyone planning a shower/sprinkle? No, we're not going to have one I don't think
What will your maternity leave look like? How long? Will you go back to work? Are you a SAHM? I'll have 6 months leave and then go back to work, either 4 days a week or full time with one day working from home (which I do now)
Any cravings? Late night runs to the store?? Not really, but I am a bit hungrier than usual I think
Thanksgiving plans? Still deciding whether to have a quiet Thanksgiving at home just the three of us, or visit relatives a train ride away
What are you asking for for Christmas? I think DH and I will get each other a new television (ours is kind of small)
ETA I don't have any bump photos, sadly! I feel like my bump looks bigger or smaller depending on the time of the day...

Yay, roll call!
Next appt? Nov 1.... also for my one hour glucose test.
Symptoms? How ya feeling? Super exhausted. Heartburn but not as bad as with DD1 fortunately! I'm also having some hip pain, especially in my left hip. I had this last time too
What have you bought for new baby? Crib, change table and nursery bedding. Also bought our double stroller. Nothing else yet!
Has anyone given you gifts/etc for new baby yet? Anyone planning a shower/sprinkle? Nope, nothing yet. No plans for a shower or sprinkle, but I'm sure close family will bring gifts after she's born.
What will your maternity leave look like? How long? Will you go back to work? Are you a SAHM? Well, I lie in canada so I get the standard 1 year mat leave. I also have a pretty significant sick bank and I think I'm going to see if I can get written off work a few weeks early. I'm already feeling done. Lol. DH and I have also talked about me taking an additional year off unpaid (I'm lucky that I can keep my job and take a LOA). Our daycare costs are astronomical and it makes a bit more sense for me to stay home for another year until DD1 is almost in school. Going to play it by ear!
Any cravings? Late night runs to the store?? Not really. I had a lot of cravings last time, this time not so much. Just food and lots of it.
Thanksgiving plans? We already had Thanksgiving
What are you asking for for Christmas? Costco gift cards so I can buy a deep freeze. Lol. And maybe an instant pot?
Finally, BUMP DATE... I don't have one! I'm so bad about taking bump photos this time around!

I think I may have my first ever stretch mark already! I didn't get any with DS and its so early yet! I'm going to start slathering on the lotion!

Can we talk monitors?
DD is almost 3 and I still use her monitor and I plan to continue to use it.. yeah I know.. weird. Hers is not a video monitor but I really want one once we move her into her big girl room b/c I "need" to see what she's doing if she's not in bed.
The one we currently have and have had since DD's birth is the angel care non video one. I love it, it beeps if it can't detect her breathing and really gave me peace of mind re SIDS when she was younger. I'd like to use it for DS as well.
So do I buy a video monitor with one camera for DD's big girl room and just use the angel care for DS? Or should I buy a video monitor with 2 camera's for both DD's room and DS's room and give up the angel care?
And what video monitor do you recommend if you have one? Anyone have one that does two rooms?

How far along are you now? 25 weeks 2 days
Next appt? Nov 17
Symptoms? How ya feeling? the usual--heartburn, RLP, fatigue. More carsickness than when I'm not pregnant, but we're in the city and only drive occasionally.
What have you bought for new baby? not a lot! we got an activity mat over the summer on prime day. I registered though and am planning out the things we'll need...
Has anyone given you gifts/etc for new baby yet? Anyone planning a shower/sprinkle? I doubt we'll have any kind of shower. My parents have said they want to gift us a bassinet and double stroller (the 2 biggest gear purchases we'll need!) so that's amazing.
What will your maternity leave look like? How long? Will you go back to work? Are you a SAHM? I'll have about 8 months off I think, depending on day care. I'm a grad student and so it's dependent on grants that I'm applying for plus if we get into our current daycare, which only enrolls new kiddos at the beginning of the academic year/September
Any cravings? Late night runs to the store?? only for things that are normal to crave, like mac and cheese and sweets, haha
Thanksgiving plans? going to visit my family!
What are you asking for for Christmas? I've asked dh to get me a Maya Brenner necklace with lo1's and lo2's initials for Hannukah and/or my birthday (in early Jan).
Finally, BUMP DATE...
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@Ajsmommy: we need a new monitor too! we had a foscam video one that was total crap. I think I want one with 2 cameras as well since even though the girls will be sharing a room, it'd be annoying to have to keep repositioning the camera to see each of them...though we haven't been able to see lo1 in awhile anyway since ours has been broken so long, so maybe it's not a big deal if the camera is on lo2...

Argh! I forgot to do this!
How far along are you now? 24 weeks tomorrow!
Next appt? On 11/2. My glucose test won't be until 28 weeks.
Symptoms? How ya feeling? I'm feeling pretty good. Heartburn depending upon what I eat and some evenings intense rib pain on my right side. Obviously, sleep isn't the greatest, but overall, I can't complain too much.
What have you bought for new baby? Nothing really. We have everything from DD, but I am making a crib sheet and changing pad cover. We will need to buy a few things, but I'm likely going to stalk black friday sales for some of it.
Has anyone given you gifts/etc for new baby yet? Anyone planning a shower/sprinkle? Only gift is a onsie and I highly doubt a shower or sprinkle. No one has said anything about it and I'm not pushing for one.
What will your maternity leave look like? How long? Will you go back to work? Are you a SAHM? I get up to 12 weeks STD pay; however, our HR said that the insurance company typically only approves up to 6 or 7 weeks depending upon the type of delivery (dumb!). I will take 12 weeks and supplement some of the remainder with some PTO, but mostly unpaid. Yes, I'll go back to work as I have to work 6 months after or pay back the STD payments.
Any cravings? Late night runs to the store?? No cravings, but I'm loving sweets (but really, I always do).
Thanksgiving plans? Heading to my parents for a few days, but coming back home on Saturday. We need to move DD to her new room and I'm thinking that weekend will be the best time to do it.
What are you asking for for Christmas? We are going to get a new kitchen table/chairs! We know a Mennonite/Amish family that does beautiful woodwork and am currently communicating with them ideas. We are hoping they can make it for us. !
Finally, BUMP DATE... post your bump pic (I'll try to do this tomorrow - I don't have a recent pic!)
For monitors - we want to keep one in our daughter's room too and she is 4.5. With her room moving downstairs, I think that it is essential. We currently have a Motorola video monitor and it's still chugging along. I need to see if the camera would be compatible with a new parent unit/monitor and if so, we will just get a new set with one camera. If not, we will buy a set with two cameras. I'm torn on trying another brand as it seems that every one I look at has good and bad reviews (including motorola).
