@Ajsmommy: oh not bad. Doctors orders!

@josina: I feel like I am just one big Braxton hicks at this point. But mine have never been timeable even though they are painful...irregular/ no pattern. In my case though, they feel distinctly different from the actual contractions I had in labor so I just assume they're nothing.

@NorthStar: Mostly discharge for me too but it can be kinda...watery?

My poor little buddy is getting sicker throughout the day and has been soo miserable. I feel awful that I have to leave him to go to work tonight

@gilmoregirl: Thats how mine feel too. I 'attempted' to time them but there's no real stop/go.
I am excited for my appt. tomorrow to see if I'm dilated/effaced yet.

@Ajsmommy: Yay for getting to catch up on the Bachelor.

Another random question - does it hurt when the baby moves? The baby is really moving today and sometimes, man, it's painful! I don't think it's contractions, but perhaps because the baby has dropped. It's been so long that I cannot remember what is considered "normal". I'm thinking that it is when it is rubbing against something, perhaps.

  4. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@NorthStar: I wouldn't say it hurts but I do feel lots of pressure that I don't remember with dd. I'm not sure if I just don't remember or if ds is bigger than dd....or I'm just older and weaker

My scan today showed ds is 6lb6oz at 36 wks. Not sure if that's big or avg and honestly have no clue what dd was measuring at 36wks

@NorthStar: I'm having tons of discharge. Sometimes super thick and goopy (I'm assuming mucus plug?) and sometimes really watery. Sorry for the TMI. Lol. Baby's movements don't typically hurt, but I do get a lot of pressure and sometimes what I would describe as a pitching feeling in my cervix that hurts like a mofo!

@Ajsmommy: hope your BP goes down! Enjoy the doctors orders

@NorthStar: sometimes his movements are very painful. It's not all the time -- usually more pressure -- but sometimes he will move in a way that hurts enough to catch my breath.

@MrsA: yes a baby!! Congratulations!' Can't wait to hear more.

I'm not desperate yet for my baby to arrive (feeling nervous mostly) but oh gosh I do not want to go to work this week and only a baby will get me out of it soooo bring on the labor vibes. 39 weeks tomorrow.

@MrsA: congratulations! Glad to hear he's here safe and sound!

As for us we're still at the hospital. While the jaundice is getting better and both can regulate their body temperature our next obstacle is that they have some sleep apnea especially F. The only thing one can do is to let them grow and mature. We'll see for how long they'll let me stay...

@gilmoregirl: sending good vibes!! I'm so nervous too. I'm really feeling so anxious the last few days. I want baby here but I'm also just so nervous about all the changes coming my way.

@Pumuckl: hope they'll let you stay with the babies for as long as they need to be in the hospital. Sorry to hear things aren't going as hoped. Sending positive vibes that the apnea ends soon and you get to take your precious babies home soon!

@MrsA: Congratulations!!! So exciting especially since your due date is close to mine can't wait to hear your birth story!

@gilmoregirl: I feel the same! I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and would love to go into labor to get out of work. Stuffing myself like a sausage into maternity work clothes that barely fit now is getting old!

So excited to see who is next! I have absolutely no symptoms of labor nor any contractions. I just feel a lot of pressure down low. My last day of work is supposed to be this Friday, and while I don't want to be at work anymore, I'm half considering extending it because while I'd love a day or two off work before the baby comes I am so afraid I'll end up having baby go way past due and just be sitting around at home wasting 1-2 weeks of my maternity leave with no baby!!!! What's everyone else doing work wise???

  19. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@Pumuckl: here's hoping the apnea gets cleared up soon, is it just a wait until they grow more kinda thing?? if so grow babies grow
@gentlelunette: I am feeling anxious too. Not bc I think i'll go into labor but more bc I feel like at each dr apt they could send me to be induced and I'd really like to make it to that Feb 16 set induction date....
@maggierose: my plan is to work up until I'm sent in to have a baby. As of now my induction is set for Feb 16, so i'll be working until Feb 15. However, I'm getting anxious that they won't let me make it that far.... especially since Thursday I was sent home due to my BP. My friend was taken out a week early for her first and she said she felt like it was such a waste and missed having that extra week after baby was born so I definitely hope to not have that happen (although lounging around for a week prior to a newborn doesn't sound all that bad right about now!)

  20. josina

    pomegranate / 3973 posts

@MrsA: Congrats! Hope everything is going well!

@Pumuckl: Sorry to hear you are still stuck at the hospital, hopefully they do well and you are all home soon!

@maggierose: I'll be working up until baby is born. If I don't go by the 17th we may schedule induction for the 19th.

I was in the mall on Saturday and this woman stopped me to tell me how great I looked and how to really enjoy these last few weeks and not wish them gone. She mentioned she had her last baby a month early and she really missed getting that last month. Great perspective and since this 'could' be my last I'm going to try to remember that!
AFM - I was 1-1/2 dilated and 50% effaced on Friday, baby is low but has room to go down yet, so just hanging out for now.
Got talking to my mom yesterday and my siblings were all big babies, 8-10 lbs so I'm a little nervous. DS was 7.3 and did enough damage.

@MrsA: Congrats!!!! We should start seeing the babies in this group coming along soon!

@maggierose: I'm also working up until my induction date, so my last day is in 2 weeks. But, I've SO mentally checked out. It's really hard to stay focused when all I want to do is nap. lol. At least I'm not in as much pain as late last week and this cold is starting to go away.

  22. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@maggierose: yeah I am down to two pairs of pants that fit. It is not flattering. Can't wait to be done.

I caught a version of my son's cold and now my husband apparently has pink eye...so we are gonna need this baby to hold off. Even if I do have to work all week (ugh).

I'll be finished with work Friday no matter what. My job is taking too much of a physical toll and I just can't handle working indefinitely. I'm really looking forward to having a few days to relax and finish things. I had the same with my son and I think it was good for me mentally. I enjoyed it but I can understand why others don't.

That being said, I'm not going back until August so taking off before baby only means I am unpaid longer. And a few days won't make a huge difference. Plus my doctor induces by 41 weeks (I am 100% comfortable with this) so I know I won't have to wait terribly long.

Now if I can just get through this week!!

@Ajsmommy: Thanks for checking in! I was waffling so much about the induction, but yesterday I decided to go for it, if the hospital will do it. Waiting to hear back on the verdict (and date). Otherwise, no indications that labor will start soon... I'm so impatient right now!

Anyone else taking measures to help get baby out? I know baby will come when she's ready, but I figure some of the old wives tales can't hurt, so I'm drinking RRL tea, taking evening primrose oil, eating spicy food, bouncing on a yoga ball... basically trying to avoid going overdue at all costs. No signs at all that labour is near, but it's making me feel better, even if it doesn't work!

You ladies opting to go for inductions are brave! I heard induced contractions are no joke! I am hoping to avoid that at all costs and really hoping I don't go too late. My midwife practice lets you go to 42 weeks, as long as testing between 41-42 weeks looks OK. Of course I would much prefer not to make it that far!

@gentlelunette: Yes!! I ate a bunch of pineapple core over the weekend. Was drinking RRL tea but I finished the box. I walk at least 3 miles a day anyway round trip to/from work, so I don't know how much more I can walk. I have not had much of a chance to do yoga this time around but made it for one class last week and am going to try to go again on Thursday - the deep squatting positions are supposed to help, and I've tried doing a little at home but I'm so out of shape!

I'm going to try to amp it up over the weekend with "couple's time" :), nip stim, and trying to schedule some acupuncture for next week. As a last resort, I still have an almost full bottle of castor oil that I used to get labor going with my son. It worked like a charm last time, so I know I can always use that if need be.

@maggierose: my midwife practice lets you go to 42 weeks too, and I really don't know if I can handle that mentally. lol. The idea of being pregnant for a whole other month makes me want to cry!!! I'm going to try and get to yoga tomorrow morning, and do lots of walking on the weekend with DH and DD if it's not too miserable out. DH has been so swamped at work I feel bad asking him to "do his part" since he's so tired when he gets home, but I think I might tell him to just get over it and help get this baby out!

@gentlelunette: I went on two very long walks over the weekend... nothing. My friends keep telling me to enjoy this time, and they're completely right, but I'm so ready to have this baby!

@maggierose: I heard that about inductions too, which is what gave me pause. On the other hand, a good friend was induced on her due date with her second baby a month ago, and she had a wonderful experience - got the pitocin, had an epidural shortly after, and relaxed until the baby came out.

  30. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@maggierose: I was induced the first time (not planned) and it wasn't bad at all..I actually never felt a contraction! I was not the norm though.... I got my epidural and then they inserted foley bulbs and then started the Pitocin.

  31. josina

    pomegranate / 3973 posts

@maggierose: I was induced with DS also and it was sooo easy. My contractions didn't hurt at all until after the dr. broke my water, and I got the epi shortly after. 6 hours from start to delivery.
We have the 19th as a possible induction date although I'd rather go natural before then. I may be trying some of these tricks to help.

  32. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@maggierose: All these ladies are so lucky that they either had great inductions or have heard of them. My induction with DD was not that great, in fact it was horrible! I was about 8 or 9 days late, induced and was in labor for two days. I never progressed past a 6, even with an epidural, and ended up with a csection late on the 2nd day. I don't know if this is normal or not, but because of that experience, we have a scheduled csection this time around. I have zero desire to go through it again.

I hope that you don't have to experience that and can get the baby to come on it's own!!

Hey all, I haven't been posting much but congrats to all the babies so far! My February baby turned into a January baby--water broke at 4:30am (I felt it pop!) on 1/28 and DD2 was born just after noon. We didn't have our bag packed and DD1 had to come with us to the hospital because my MIL's phone was on silent! Luckily she woke up and came to pick up DD1 right before labor got really intense. Good luck to everyone, it's finally February!!!

Thanks for the well wishes! DS is cluster feeding tonight so I have some time to share his birth!

I had a dr appt Friday at 38w5d. Still 2.5 cm, so there hadn't been any progress. Still had back cramping every once in a while Friday and Saturday. Saturday night DH was helping out with my niece and nephew, so I was solo with DD for bedtime. I got her down and then was tired, so headed to bed around 9. I could not get comfortable, and kept tossing and turning, and furious with DH for not being home yet since I figured I couldn't relax with him away He got home around 11. I think I might have dozed but kept having the mild back cramps and what I thought was gas, so I was up and down going to the bathroom. Around 2 I had some bloody show and went "huh??" I had a few back cramps and woke DH at 2:30 saying I thought maybe I might be in labor? We packed up, called a friend, and were at the hospital by 3. Contractions were real, all in my back, and 3 min apart. Whoops!!

I was at 4 cm at check-in, so they sent the order for the antibiotics. It got really intense really fast...contractions super strong and close together. I labored in the tub about 20 min with very frequent contractions. They got the IV started, and said it'd take an hour to run the antibiotics. I said "I don't think I have an hour. I feel like I need to push!" My doula helped me back to the bed, and I'd gone from 4 to 10 cm in less than an hour. OB arrived, I pushed for about 5 super long contractions, and DS was born at 4:37am, just over 2 hours after I woke DH up. Holy whirlwind!! It was so fast it took me a while to process that he is here, but we're settled at home and just loving the baby snuggles.

DD has been great, some jealous moments but mostly so excited. It's a hard transition, and I have to keep reminding myself it's totally new for all of us.

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm trying to keep up but have more time to read than to write

@babybean404: congratulations 🎈! Glad to hear everything went smoothly. 4:30am seems to be a great time for waters to break. That's when mine broke too.

Our update is that as of yesterday the kids are now in the children's ward and are being monitored. So far they have done great though. A careful first estimate is that maybe we can take them home by the end of the week. We'll see...

@babybean404: Congratulations! What a nice early surprise!

@MrsA: What an amazing birth story. Glad it went so well - and quick! I am sure it is a tough transition to two but I bet it will get easier day by day. Congrats again!

@Pumuckl: Hope you can bring them home by the end of the week. That's awesome!

I had my 39 week appointment today and told the midwife how I'm planning not to go into work next week but don't want to be sitting home with no baby, either. She offered to stir things up and strip my membranes. I figured why not at this point. She said I was a tight 2 cm dilated (so basically nothing, which I figured since I haven't had any cramps or contractions) and did the sweep. Who knows if it will do anything, but she's only on the L&D floor tomorrow night and I would LOVE for her to catch my baby (she caught my son)...so hoping things get moving soon!!

Thanks for all your comments on induction. I had a med-free birth with my son and am planning that again but it sounds like there is no chance of going med free if you're on Pitocin, which is why I am trying to avoid it! I ate a ton of pineapple last night and had sexy time with the hubs, plus a good 4 miles walked total during the day, so that plus the membrane sweep this morning will hopefully do something!! Come on baby!
