How do you feel about foot massages during pregnancy? This place just opened up near our house and they have hour-long foot massages for $20! My feet are starting to swell and the thought of getting my feet professionally massaged for an hour sounds like heaven. I'll be 34w on Friday, though, so I don't want to do anything to induce labor this early.
DH thinks the whole reflexology/pressure points to induce labor is total BS and is encouraging me to go. Would you go or skip it?

GO! I had DH massage my feet every night in second and third trimesters, and I still ended up being induced. I wish it had brought on natural labor, lol.

I would definitely go - the trigger points that the could get are in weird spots that they normally don't massage anyway.

Go!!! DH has been rubbing the heck out of my swollen feet, and I definitely had some excellent foot massages during my pedicures. Frankly, if reflexology made babies come early, no one would be overdue

I went a ton of times during pregnancy. I had my first one done before I knew I was pregnant and then got a few more after that. I love those reflexology places!

@LulaBee: DH has been massaging my feet every night for the past couple of weeks so I think that's also why he's encouraging me to go--so that he can have a break!

It's a good question for your doctor. I have some issues (not pregnancy related) that a foot massage will make WAY worse. I know that massage during pregnancy can be 'iffy', and it's best to only go to people that specialize in prenatal massage. Pressure point and zones are definitely real, and they could inadvertently trigger something. Obviously, it would feel AMAZING, but I wonder if a real massage therapist is trained to hit zones that aren't the safest for pregnant mamas.

Ok so I went on my way home from work and it was amazeballs. I called ahead of time and they said they could modify the foot massage for pregnant women. The lady also massaged my scalp, neck and arms. I am totally going back there at least once a week until baby comes!

I was going to say no, only because an hour JUST on the feet sounds like overkill. But if they did scalp, neck and arms on top of it.... amazing.
