What's on your day-to-day meal plan?
I'm newly diagnosed (about an hour ago! ughhhh) but I've been trying to research and prepare... meeting with a nutritionist next week so I'll need some ideas to hold me over until then.
I sent Wagon Sr. out on a grocery run the other night for late night snacks... he got the following:
- low fat, no salt added cottage cheese
- ry crisps
- low fat cream cheese
- baby dill pickles
- cheddar cheese slices
- peanuts (I'm allergic to almonds
)
- skinnycow fudgsicles
My snacks the past couple of nights have been some mixture of these and they've actually been very yummy and pretty filling and satisfying!
I have so many questions to ask the nutritionist, but maybe some of you GD ladies can help out as well!
- are protein shakes a good idea? I love to have a meal replacement shake for breakfast and I found protein shakes at Costco that are very low carb, high protein.
- how about Fiber One bars? There's lots of carbs but also lots of fiber... are those a good idea for a snack?
- I'm allergic to most fresh veggies so I need a crunchy snack for work... is popcorn a bad idea?
- what's your favorite GD-friendly (low sugar? low fat?) salad dressing? I LOVE salad so I think this will be a staple of mine... my salads usually consist of: chicken, hard boiled egg, lots of greens, cucumbers, mushrooms, feta, and croutons... but I can nix the croutons in exchange for a yummy dressing. I love creamy sweet dressings like honey mustard or french. I'm thinking of trying to find a good low fat or fat free french I can tote around? Haven't had great luck in finding a good low fat honey mustard in the past.
But if I want tons of dressing, I just go with Italian or Balsamic Vinagrette or Greek dressing
And it's SO HELPFUL that you already went through it once and have that experience to build on this time around!!
I don't have any website recommendations yet, but hopefully will soon!!!
