So when did you find a heartbeat at home.... and did you ever have days where you couldn't?
I heard the heartbeat loud and clear at home (randomly found it) for baby #2 a few days ago, at 9w exactly. Since then, I've been unable to locate it.
I'm not going crazy or anything, since I know it's still early, but tell me YOUR experiences with a home doppler!

I bought a POC one and returned it. Never could hear a thing. Like, even 20+ weeks.

I heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks, but it wasn't consistent. I could find it almost every time I checked around 11 weeks.

This is why doctors don't recommend getting them. They get a lot of visits from freaked out mamas who couldn't find the heartbeat due to positioning or other factors. The evidence base says that they don't change outcomes. Having said that, if I were to do it all over again, I'd probably get one as a high risk older mama

With my first, I couldn't find it until 13+ weeks
This time I found it at 7w

I had one but never used it. I felt movement super early, so it wasn't necessary.

It was very off and on in terms of finding it.
Even now that I'm huge and we can see the baby rolling around in there, its hard to figure out where to pick it up.

I found it at 8 weeks but then not consistently until maybe 13 weeks or so. I did best with a full bladder laying down. But I do remember feeling really freaked out in the days I didn't find it, but not wanting to admit it after promising over and over to my husband that getting it wasn't going to make me crazy. 
so even if the rational part of you knows that everything is fine, even doctors have trouble finding it occasionally, etc, I do understand if a little part of you feels nervous. But really, I checked frequently the first few weeks and had maybe and 70-80% rate of finding it.

I started using it just before 10 weeks and have found it most times, though not all (now almost 12 weeks). I did notice that the baby is in a very different place each time - he/she moves a lot!! So it takes a while to find it every time because it's never in the same place.

Thanks guys! No luck since that first time I caught it at 9weeks exactly, must have been a fluke. I tried again this morning & nothing... blargh! Little thing is hiding from me!

@jaguar: have you watched YouTube videos on how to use it? I had a sonoline B and ony found it after watching and seeing how low the baby really was and the trick of slowly moving the probe in a circle.

@Little Misters Mom: I have a Sonoline B - have used it all through Georgia's pregnancy, so thought I knew what I was doing re: circles etc.
Might have to go do some more research. Doesn't help having a plus sized belly in the way!

Update... I found it! Way down low again, even lower than last time. Relieved now. Won't be using again until after my next appt. xx

My physician brother in law couldn't find it at 15 weeks even though is already heard it multiple times before then at the docs. Everything was fine. This is one reason why I am anti home Doppler.
