This is a long shot but if anyone is awake and has any idea...I woke up in a lot of pain from a ton of dental work I had done yesterday, and I took one of the pain pills my dentist gave me. About 40 minutes later I threw up...I'm in so much pain now that I can barely stand it, but I'm not sure if it's safe to take another pill or not...I'm leaning towards yes because OMG PAIN and I threw up after taking the last one, but I don't want to over-do it while pregnant and I'm not sure how much would've absorbed into my system in that 40 minutes. But it hurts so badly. The pills are low-dosage Hydrocodone, I'm allowed to take 1 every 4 hours and it's been like an hour and a half since I took it, and so almost an hour since I threw up.

I can't speak to safety of taking it but I would probably just take another. I can't imagine being in that kind of pain....I hope it resolves soon!

I think if you throw up within the hour after taking something, not a lot of it is in your system so in theory you would be fine to take another pill. However, I'm not sure about taking hydrocodone while your pregnant so I would be very cautious! What did your dentist say about it? Can you try a mild painkiller like Tylenol? I'm sorry your in so much pain!

I wouldn't take any painkillers. Tylenol at most.

I had to take low dose painkillers in my first trimester because of a herniated disc. Here's what my doctor told me to make me feel better- the stress your body undergoes when in extreme pain is WAY more harmful to the baby than a prescription drug. Hydrocodone is also safer than a lot of other drugs in terms of how it affects the baby- as long as you aren't abusing the medication, which this situation most certainly is not, you're not harming the baby at all.

Thanks ladies...I ended up just falling asleep shortly after posting this (amazed I was able to with the pain, but I was exhausted and apparently enough of the meds stayed in my system that I was drowsy.) Luckily by the time I woke up it was time for another pill and my mom was here with breakfast so I wouldn't be taking it on an empty stomach. She's helping me out today thank goodness, I'm a pretty shitty mom to my almost 1 year old today between the pain and the drowsiness.
And for those saying no painkillers or just Tylenol, I was assured by both the dentist and my midwife that hydrocodone is safe, it's a very low dosage and this was way too much dental work for just Tylenol! @lauraeabel: Thank you, that does make me feel better.

I was prescribed hydro condone while pregnant and was assured that it was okay to take.
