I feel pretty good at 5 months... I had to take a 1 week trip last week for work and I swear I'm still exhausted. I def think even though you have more energy in the 2nd tri, you still get way more exhausted than you do pre-preg. You can do it, but you will probably be totally drained from it! I didn't get to take naps or breaks or rest each day- we went 12 hours a day, every day, so maybe if I would have been allowed to slack or take it easier, I wouldn't have been so whipped!

I felt GREAT at 5 months. I actually think that would be the best time to take a trip while pregnant! 6 months wasn’t too bad either actually but now that I’m almost 7 months I’m not sure I could handle it.

At 5 months I was feeling great. I was over morning sickness but hadn't started awful heartburn yet. I was still able to sleep really well but wasn't exhausted all the time. I spent a week and a half hiking in Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks when I was 6 months and had a great time. IMO, 5 months is a really good time to travel if you aren't having any pregnancy complications.

I'm 16 1/2 weeks now and feel like I could definitely travel.

I felt great my entire pregnancy, so I would have traveled at 5 months.

I'm exactly that far along right now, and would feel totally comfortable taking a trip.

I felt great at 5 months! We took a long weekend trip around 25 weeks. My feet got sore but that was it, even after walking miles in crappy flip flops. I could still probably travel relatively comfortably now at 32 weeks.
I would be more concerned about traveling in the first trimester if TTC doesn't work out exactly according to schedule. I would not have been happy traveling between 8 and 15 weeks.

I felt pretty good and I went on a short trip by plane!

It's hard to gauge how you'll feel at 5 months, but for a lot of women it's the "golden trimester" and the best time to travel. I was definitely the most physically comfortable then (although my morning sickness never really let up) and would have been more than fine traveling.

I felt crappy until 20 weeks and that was like the magic turning point for me. Now at 21.5 weeks I feel great! Sickness is gone, appetite is back, and most importantly, my energy level is back. I obviously still get aches and pains but nothing that would make me afraid to travel.

I felt good at 2 weeks, but you get tired easier than normal (and heat does affect you more than normal as well, so AC is a must if in a hot location.) As long as you listen to your body and not over do it, you should be fine.
However, any later than 5 months I personally wouldn't go in July if going to a hot area. Too much to handle for me. (7 months now and couldn't travel for 2 weeks.)

I felt completely fine, would have been no issue to travel. Even now at 6 months pregnant, I feel great.

I live in Seattle and will be flying to NYC next week when I'll be exactly 20 weeks carrying twins. One of the major differences is I do everything a bit slower - walking, getting ready, eating, etc... I just have to plan for more time and always be ok to sit for a bit and take a breather & don't forget to hydrate hydrate hydrate

You never know how things can go! 2nd trimester was golden for me, but I had major swelling from traveling across the country and it took me a good couple days to recover. I wasn't on a vacation, it was a business trip--so at the end of the day I was zapped. Had I been on vacation, I probably would have hated it.

I felt great at 5 months. Only issue was having to go to the restroom so much.

I'm traveling to CA when I'm 5 months pregnant.. and taking my toddler with me! (we're traveling alone.. eek!).
I traveled when I was 5 months pregnant with LO too.

I definitely felt good enough to travel at 5 months, and I didn't like being pregnant at all. I'd go for it!

We took a four hour plane ride right when I was 5 months and I felt completely normal except for a really sore tailbone. I bought an inflatable cushion and that worked really well. We went hiking and everything, so I say plan it!! Maybe just buy trip insurance in just in case.

At five months, I still had HORRIBLE morning sickness (I still do, for that matter, at 30 weeks) so I wouldn't have wanted to travel.
That said - I did drive to NH for the night to visit family around 5 months (4 hour drive) and I barely made it. Lots of soda and snacks during the drive!

I just traveled to both coast last week at 23w. A few days were for work in CA and then we did a babymoon in Boston for the rest of the week. I felt fine. My feet hurt from walking a lot but otherwise, it wasn't bad.

I felt great at 5 months. Totally plan a trip if there are lots of bathroom breaks and you're not going to be hanging out in 100 degree weather all day. Keep in mind that you'll probably feel out of breath more easily, so you might not want to spend your whole trip hiking.

This is reassuring! We're considering joining my family on a trip to Croatia in December and we're currently TTC (POAS at the end of July!)...

Wow! Thanks for all the responses! I'm from Australia so July here would be winter but as we'll be up north it will be warm but not too bad. I am an outdoorsy girl and we are going camping... I am worried about being far from a hospital if I needed one but I think if it was an emergency we would work it out! Like pp's have said I guess I won't know till I'm at that stage but I think we'll plan it!!

I've felt great throughout my pregnancy. The only thing that has made traveling annoying in the 3rd trimester is the swelling I've experienced in my feet/ankles. I went to Lisbon for 4 days at 28 weeks and the swelling was pretty bad from all the walking. But that's my only complaint.
I also flew transatlantic at 19weeks and returned at 22 weeks, no problems whatsoever!

I went to Europe for 11 days at 5 months, felt totally fine. GO FOR IT! I'm so glad I did.

That was my golden time! I felt way, wayyyy better traveling at 20 weeks across the country than I did on a short 1 hour flight at 31 weeks...it was just too much for me.

I traveled to Taiwan at 19 weeks and I felt pretty good. I handled the trip pretty well. Even now at 6 months I still feel great and could travel easily.

I traveled cross country at 20 weeks and mostly felt great. The difference for me between 15 weeks (puking all the time) and 16 weeks was huge. I felt totally normal in terms of energy on our trip; though my sleep wasn't so good due to my belly (& having to sleep on my side) and a hotel bed that was too soft. I will say though that on the way home we got stuck in the airport for 6 hours due to a mechanical issue and then spent a lot of time on the plane (7.5 hrs. including 1 hr. on the tarmac)... I was sporting a pretty decent size bump at that point and felt uncomfortable jammed into the middle seat for that long. I sort of made the decision not to do anymore long flights like that for the rest of the pregnancy if I can help it. I would recommend packing lots of snacks, bringing a water bottle, and getting an aisle seat! Also dressing in layers... I found I was a lot hotter than my husband while we were stuck on the tarmac!
Good luck!
