We got a few recommendations, visited each of the pediatricians for an interview and decided on the one we liked best.
Different factors we looked for:
-after hours/emergency call center (pediatrician on call)
-doctor's education and experience
-separate waiting rooms for newborns, sick children, healthy children, teenagers
-nice office staff
-how well the doc communicated and the vibe we got from her

Recommendations. I spoke to the women I work with and a large majority use the same practice. I still met with at an information session they hold monthly but I kinda already knew I'd be satisfied.

Our hospital has a thing where about 6 doctors all come and do a meet and greet and answer all your questions. It was nice because we could see who we liked and narrow it down before going to the office for an interview.
We ended up going with someone that is open every day of the year and will give you an apt the same day you call if needed. Their office was nice and clean, and the doctors were all super nice. Also, I have a few friends that go to them and love them. And my obs kids go there so that's a good sign.

I asked my OBGYN for a recommendation. She recommended 2 different doctors in an affiliated practice of 9 pediatricians. I researched both doctors and picked 1 to interview. My husband and I both loved her when we interviewed her. One of the best things about the practice as a whole is that all of our regularly scheduled appointments will be with her, but if we need sick/same day/emergency appointments, we can see any doctor in the practice (to ensure we get an appointment), they have evening and Saturday hours, and the entire practice is made up of women doctors who are all moms themselves (this wasn't a criteria of our, but we enjoyed this fact once we learned it).
