I've noticed that men aren't really allowed to talk about pregnancy, so now I don't say anything.

@mrbee: haha I actually talk with a couple of my male co-workers about my pregnancy quite often. I think though, that if questions started to wander to the vagina area I might start to feel a little weird? I'm not sure though because I haven't dealt with it. I'm pretty open about a lot of topics though so maybe it will be fine. I have (so far) no issues with talking to men about my pregnancy.

@mrbee: The most *invasive* questions I was asked came from men . . . and I bet their wives would cringe if they knew what their husbands diclosed about their deliveries!

I once had a friend's father ask me if I was planning on delivery vaginally...um I'm sorry do not say the word vagina in any form to me, you've known me since I was 5!

@LuLu Mom: Haha. That's sort of a weird question to ask anyway regardless of the terminology. That said-- I never know what term to use for a "vaginal delivery" in any context-- people default to natural, because it sounds nicer, but really natural to me is without meds (like no induction) where you can be induced, but deliver vaginally... Then I get flustered and come close to doing hand motions to indicate and have to stop myself!

I'm pretty open, and don't mind sharing if someone actually cares (I don't assume everyone cares about my dilation, so I don't go around talking about it though).

I think the whole process is beautiful and natural, so I love talking about it.

However, people should not just assume everyone's that way. I can understand how people get uncomfortable about questions - it's really personal! When asked awkward questions, you should just give them some sort of 'wtf' look, and tell them that you'd rather not talk about it. Or ask them something equally ridiculous about their privates.

@MrsLilybugg: I know, right? Gross!! DH was just like "ahh... no...". I am so glad to be at home now with no one bugging me.

@mrbee: I have more fun talking to my male coworkers about my pregnancy than I do my female coworkers. The guys are always genuine and usually really funny (in a nice, I just want to make you laugh kind of way) but the women can be catty and chock full of unwanted advice. And I feel like I'm a little more lenient when the guys ask me an inappropriate question, because I feel like they don't realize it's inappropriate. But my male coworkers are also way closer in age to me than my female coworkers (all of us staff accountants are 22-25 and I'm the only female staff accountant).
